After Adam Lambert wowed the crowd (in more ways than one) at the American Music Awards last night at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, he took a flight out to New York City where he would gear up for his appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman.

Word is Lambert will be performing “Whataya Want From Me” from his new album, For Your Entertainment, which hit stores today (November 23).

He was snapped arriving for the appearance this afternoon. With the performance being taped ahead of the broadcast, there’s no chance of any overly racy acts making it on TV. Maybe this time we’ll actually get a chance to focus on Adam’s amazing voice instead of the shock and awe tactics.

From an interview after the AMA’s, I was under the impression that Adam was singing another song from his album, not the single “For Your Entertainment”. Either way, I’m looking forward to the show.

  2. adamdevotee says:

I am so psyched to see Adam Lambert perform “Whataya Want From Me” on Letterman. I love Pink, who wrote the song, and I love the song. It’s been getting a lot of radio play and it will be so great to see his live interpretation of it. I thought he rocked it on the AMA’s too, and I’m looking forward to the better sound system on Letterman’s show, so those that are new to hearing him, can hear how unbelievably strong his vocals are. Those that judge and blow him off just because they are close-minded, should take a listen tonight. I guarantee he is going to rock it out tonight and don’t forget to watch him on GMA Wednesday morning too. He’ll probably do a couple of songs.

  3. Deena says:

Adam is NOT singing FYE on Letterman. Word is Adam will be singing Whatya Want From Me – another track from his album – a ballad very different from FYE. No racy stuff required.

  4. ally says:

I hope he sings the other song. ” What do you want from me” I’ve had enough of “For Your Entertainment”

It will be nice to focus on his amazing talent instead of all the “other” stuff

  5. Deena says:

Also, Adam’s appearance on Letterman will be Wednesday, 11/25 – NOT TONIGHT. He is pretaping the show today.

  6. TJ says:

    Thanks, Deena!

  7. mom4dance says:

I heard Adam rehearsing “What Do You Want From Me?” at the Ed Sullivan Theatre this afternoon. Also the taping was today, but the show will air on Wednesday. By the way, Adam sounded amazing as usual.

  8. suziequeue says:

from this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6o4NnBpbN6w it sounded to me like he may sing Music Again…he said a song about searching for love…hope it is! The whole CD is amazing…don’t know how he picked a single cause they are all so unique and special (my favorites are Pick U Up and Broken Open!)

  9. jill says:

Adam is amazing and I love his new album <3

  10. andrew says:

I am in MN and haven’t heard Adam on the radio yet wtf???

  11. Peggy says:

Your new album is amazing Adam and it is great to see your hair down again..I also like the Elvis pomoadore….

  12. LA says:

The album is incredible WOW. I can’t wait to see Adam on David Letterman. What a talent.

  13. amarynthine says:

Omg, I hope he doesn’t screw this upp, I really want him to get this second chance

  14. Elisia says:

    It will be awesome.
I think he just wanted to break away from the mold and the box everyone was trying to put him in; but he did say it wasn’t planned…

All the greats rose eyebrows at the start of their career, I think we should give him a break.

And novody is talking about Shakira showing ofher crotch for the cameras, Janet Jackson’s crotch-grabbing.
It def. looked like they were doing all that….

  15. jaberone says:

Go for it ADAM! You’re the greatest!

  16. Maggie Q says:

I loved Adam Lambert’s AMA performance it rocked. Sure it had some sound problems but who performing didn’t have trouble with their pitch or audio? He was also one of the few who didn’t lip sync which gives him more street cred in my book. And what did Adam do on the AMAs that hasn’t been done all ready? People screaming about their kids – should have sent them to bed when Janet Jackson opened the show. Janet grabbed herself more than Michael and then Janet patted down her dancer and grabbed his crotch and then leaned him over. So suggesting more butt access on a man isn’t a problem since she is a female? But if Adam had done that I bet more people would have had a major freak. Adam did great. He just needs to stay true to himself. Love his new CD it rocks.

  17. LJ says:

We are HUUUUGE Adam Lambert fans, who were extremely disappointed in his AMA performance. It was unnecessarily lewd, and needless for a man of such incredible talent. We just don’t get it. He is better than vulgar gimmickery. He shrieked instead of sang. Adam can and must do better if he wants longevity. The CD cover is absurd, and is too camp. Does he want a serious career as a singer or a drag-queen? There is no gay discrimination going here, but Adam has to play to his talent, not defy cultural norms just for publicity. Forced and abusive sexual suggestions are not okay when posed against either gender, under any circumstances. Shame on Adam. Get back to singing!

  18. Bern3755 says:

Well Adam wanted attention and he certainly got it. He was even on the news here today, a first!!! Looking forward to hearing his amazing voice on Letterman here in Australia on Thursday nite.

  19. Kristina says:

Adam is such an amazing singer and performer. Can’t wait for Letterman.

  20. marie says:

“Those that judge and blow him off just because they are close-minded, should take a listen tonight.”

I understand the devotion and in some cases the obsession with Adam. Been there and done that with artists.

I have not seen people blowing him off out of close mindedness. I have seen a majority of everyday folks feeling that his performance at the AMAs was over the top and inappropriate for various reasons but most of all those of us who enjoy his talent feel that he blew a great opportunity to raise the roof with that voice of his. His vulgar antics showcased nothing but sexuality and left his voice in the background, out of tune and out of synch. He doesn’t have to prove anything to be successful but he does have to please the audience not just his loyal base. He didn’t do that. He disrespected the public on our airways. This was netotk TV, prime time Sunday.

For those who think kids shouldn’t watch the AMAs, ABC shouldn’t air the AMAs on a Sunday evening, traditionally a night for family programming, in prime time. That entire show was not appropriate for the time slot or the network but they sure do try to pull the younger demographic in. If you don’t have kids, you may not get it. My 3 are teenagers. We watched Adam’s rise to fame on American Idol and saw him in the live show and in my time zone the AMAs were on from 7-10. My kids were excited to stay up to see Adam. We were all very disappointed and my husband and I were disgusted. Adam’s CD hasn’t got a prayer in my house and we won’t be buying any tickets to see him again. He can’t be trusted to entertain a younger crowd even though he pretended to be what he isn’t during AI. We are sad about that because we adored his talent. What he did last night was sell his soul but why? He didn’t have to. He will appeal to the fringe and lose many in the process. His loss in the long run.

    • America1 says:

marie, very well said. My thoughts exactly was he presented something entirely different on AI when in reality he was setting us all up for disappointment all for “shock value”. He seemed HUMBLE on AI and on AMA he seemed nothing but arrogant. He lost my family as fans. His voice is amazing to listen too but he can’t be trusted to perform. He ultimately had an alterior motive from the beginning of AI.

      • ALLUSION says:

grow up …oh wait…danny is that you?

      • katherine says:

i agree with what marie and america1 said…adam just blew his chance to show his real talent. he need not resort to this cheap act coz he’s such an amazing talent. i’m 17 and an adam lambert fan but for those adam lambert fans who chose to be blinded by their love for adam should realize that there’s a huge difference between being artistic and just being lewd..maybe this is the kind of act you see on gay bars or somethin…totally inappropriate for primetime viewing…im terribly disappointed with adam…

    • ALLUSION says:

That’s so cool how your angels got to see Janet crotchgrabbing a guy and herself, then hear Eminem talk about 435 felonies with 17 rapes not to mention Rhianna with 10 rifles and Gaga with her outfit outlining her vag and smashing booze bottles. Exactly how did you explain all that before Adam’s soul selling number? Liar. You’re not even a real person but a troll. OH and I LOVE THIS PART :

“wont be buying tix to see him again” what a liar. if you EVER went to Adam’s tour you’d KNOW NOT TO HAVE KIDS WATCHING IT …HELLO? MIC STAND ANYBODY

      ROFLMAO AT THESE FAUX PERSONAS.

  21. No comment says:

The AMA performance was like Ring of Fire on AI – only X 10. Now that he has everyone’s attention, he is going to bring in back around with his vocal performances – everyone is riveted to see what he is going to do next. What fun!!!

  22. Anonymous says:

Adam can sing his face off—and that’s what i Really Want from him! A show with dancing/showmanship it is ok—but please not so over the top Adam baby! Love Adam! Even he justs sits to sing—-it is amazing to hear that voice of his!

  23. RiverGirl says:

Totally agree that Adam’s AMA performance was to breal the Idol ties that bind. Everyone who followed Idol this past season knew that Adam wss not from their mold. Even those of us who were huge fans, understood that him coming in second was a blessing for his unique career. Don’t give up on him so fast; if we’re lucky, we will be seeing lots of different sides to his performance abilities. You can always count on him shaking things up. Rock on Adam!

  24. Lauriellen says:

I LOVED Adam’s AMA performance but I can understand those that had a problem with it. Adam has an awesome voice and his CD is the best I’ve ever heard. Hopefully those who haven’t heard of Adam will give him another chance and watch Letterman and The Early Show. If you buy the CD you can alsways listen without watching.

  25. Anonymous says:

It’s all about self expression and that’s what I love most about Adam! He is true to himself and will always have a huge following. There shouldn’t be a double standard with women doing exactly the same thing for a decade now! Come on people – grow up and open your mind a little! He’s the real deal and we love him!

I feel sad that Adam Lambert is abusing his wonderful talant on xrated perfomances. He will destroy himself I believe. We have just lost Michael Jackson because of his extreme behavior we has lost Elvis vecause of extreme behavior. Adam? Beautiful talant will he beable to keep his sanity or go the way of other extremely talented people.

  27. judyjolie says:

Adam is a pervert and so are the people who are fine with his vile performance On Ama. Anyone who wants or needs so watch such pornography, must have that visual arousal, have definite problems, but most of us are normal, and want our music to be romantic, funny, entertaining, but not pornographic. If that is what you need folks, rent a porn movie. As far as the other entertainers who also were slightly porno on that show, we are not talking about them, and we know that those mentioned are pervs. We are speaking of Adam Lambert who led us to believe he was a nice clean cut gay guy. He deserves nothing but disdain for his performance. He behaved like a dog in heat, and that finger to the audience at the end of his “performance” showed us all how he felt about us. Well, consider that I am now giving that finger to him.

  28. 04england says:

OMG juliejolie, you need a life. You are very close minded. I feel sorry for you. You are really boxed in with blinders on. Adam has talent and lots of it. He breaks the mold for entertainers. So, his bit on AMA was a little risque, obviously you don’t watch any of the videos that other singers perform in. Adam is refreshing. I’m sorry that you and others can’t get past that one performance. Obviously you and the others aren’t true fans of Adam. Great CD!

  29. JuliAn1413 says:

Amazed and became an avid fan during AI – loved Adam’s AI Concert Tour performances – thought his Mic Jerk was disrespectful of all the families that attended. Wasn’t necessary – distracts from his talent. Hate his album cover. Don’t like the S&M theme of FYE. Expected racy imagery on AMA – not the face in the crotch though. Who cares if he kissed a guy – noticed more that he dropped a line and wondered if the drop & roll was an accident or intentional… Wonder if he really was “bros” and as close to Kris and Allison as he says he was and if he has even called them to see how they are doing… He’s calculating, intentional and very talented – although he does get pitchy at times (maybe all artists do) – he has a gap or break going from low notes to high but is amazing at both ends of the spectrum… What’s good is that I am no longer as obsessed – still curious and a fan. He is a big fan of Madonna. Remember how people were shocked and offended by her book? People had fits over some of her videos as well. Adam is driven. He knows shock value brings in the bucks. I didn’t notice and don’t “get” why he gave the finger in the AMA performance… But, he didn’t kill anyone – he’s enjoying what he’s doing and I’m happy for him.
