Taylor Swift accepts her AMAs from London via satellite - Wireimage
Awards season looks like it’ll be sweet for Taylor Swift.
The 19-year-old country-crossover star, who walked away with the award for entertainer of the year at the 2009 Country Music Association Awards weeks ago, was the big winner at last night’s American Music Awards, held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
She beat out Lady GaGa and Beyonce for her first award of the night, Favorite Pop/Rock Female. Accepting via satellite from London where she was preparing for a concert, Swift looked shocked and thanked her fans for voting for her.
She’d later accept awards on air for Favorite Country Female and Artist of the Year, an award she took over another big winner, Michael Jackson.
The late King of Pop scored four awards, two for his compilation album, Number Ones, Favorite Male Soul/R&B singer, and Favorite Pop/Rock Male. Accepting on his behalf was his brother Jermaine Jackson.
In all, Swift won five awards. Her speech for Artist of the Year was largely dedicated to Jackson. She thanked the Jackson family and said it was an “honor” to be in the same category with him.
Next up, Swift will set her sights on the Grammys. The nominations will be announced on December 1.

Taylor is a wonderful role model…She is talented, humble and generous. Why should she give up an award that she deserves and was awarded by her adoring fans.
