Whitney Houston Performs “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” On Dancing With The Stars Finale Results Show

After starting things off with Million Dollar Bill from her new album I Look To You, Whitney Houston returned for a second performance on Dancing With The Stars’ finale results show. This time, she whipped out a classic! The comeback star performed her 80’s smash hit I Wanna Dance With Somebody.

Although this was a perfect song choice for the show, seeing this performance unfortunately highlights how Whitney’s voice tends to struggle. Dressed in a stunning yellow dress, Whit tried her best to keep up with the tune but came up a little short. The crowd didn’t seem to mind, cheering loudly as she finished.

    Great Job Whitney Houston!!!

    • Rick says:

Talk about denial! This must have been your first time EVER hearing her sing for you to make that comment. I danced to all her music in the 80’s, she was GREAT back then. She is withered and decrepid now. So sad!

    • BJ says:

Thank you for not judging her , you are one of the few people oUt there , who build her up and not tear her down, well to all those people watch and see GOD will restore her pure voice unto her as long as she believes , with GOD nothing is impossible. Straight.GB

Anonymous , at the beginning. Go Whitney Houston, keep on doing your thing and trusting THE LORD who will renew your strength and spirit, as you said in 1996 , while filming the preacher’s wife”I LOVE THE LORD”Thank you Jesus we worship your name JESUS we exhalt your name , for you are worthy to be praised , you and only you are worthy to be praised , Hallelujah KING JESUS in the highest.

Go Whitney keep going and ignore these no life having JEALOUS haters.

  3. terrell says:

I love this performance better than the first one. The sound was not right on her first performance. People need to realize that that old Whitney Houston and voice is no longer because of her choose life style and bad choices. But with that said she still sounds good and thats better then any of the so called singers to day. This is what u get like it or not. Don’t dwell in the past. Just be happy for the lady.

  4. sugar says:

Shes trying so you can’t knock her that..

    go whitney!!!

  5. Michael Jones says:

Whitney…you threw it all away for Bobby. I felt bad that your back up singers had to carry the part of “I Want to Dance with Somebody” that you used to just sing so beautifully and with such power.

  6. ct fan says:

Whitney was really struggling — to stay on her feet, to sing, to stay awake! She also looked pretty stoned! Really sad.

  7. don says:

The woman should be applauded for coming back from the hell she had with Bobby Brown. She still sounds terrific and I would love to see her in concert.

    • Anne says:

Terrific? What performance were you listening to? This wasn’t even average. Several of today’s singers could outsing the new Whitney.

  8. Alyson says:

How many more years are we supposed to applaud for her finding her way out of a bad situation and overlook her poor performances? She has not given a great performance since her “come back.” This is by far one of the worst.

    • Rick says:

I agree. She did not look good, did not sound good, and was struggling all the way through. I actually thought she was having a hard time breathing at times as well. Sorry Whitney, you were Great once. The “Bobby” has not been good for you or your career. Once a diva….. leave it as it was. I will remember you as you WERE.
This was a sad performance and the reprocussions will be detrimental I fear to her career.

      • brenshan says:

Yes! Perhaps she is encountering a bit of a struggle at times however,
she has had several really moving performances since her ‘comeback.’
Regardless, I agree with with Don. Some of you hyper-critical, judgmental &
non-forgiving folk should zip your lips saying she should be over the ‘Bobby thing’ by now. Just because she is a celebrity doesn’t mean she must have a super-quick restoration. Damn it! she’s back and actually
improving. Be careful not to curse that which God has Blessed (in spite of her mistakes in life… Oh! and BTW a few of you should take phonics, grammar and spelling classes b4 U start “MESSIN’ WITH HER REPUTATION, EVEN AIN’T GAT NO EDUCATION, TRYIN’ TO MESS HER CONCENTRATION, DON’T EVEN HAVE A CLUE WHAT SHE’S FACING…GOD IS THE REASON HER SOUL IS FREE AND SHE DON’T YOU MESSIN’ WITH HER…WATCHALOOKINAT”
        Go get some LOVE.
        Brenshan.

  9. Joe says:

Well, it’s been very hard for her for the mistakes she made.
Now that she has come back and walk in the light. Let us give her support and pray that she will walk in the light with the LORD and the LORD will bless her back with that voice that amazed the whole world over.

    • Guest says:

Joe, I agree with your comments. It’s amazing how folks are so inclined to spill negative comments about a woman who gave us her best (vocally) in the prime of her career. Yes – Whitney had a PERFECT voice (years ago) but who has a PERFECT life??? She is STILL fabulous and STILL full of life and courage. May GOD Bless us ALL to have the courage, the strength, the friendships, (perhaps fans) & professional support to overcome each and every one of our set-backs (no matter how minor or severe). Whitney is still very much ALIVE & GRACEFUL. What ever happened to the celebration of life and courage??? If these same folks had better things to do in their own lives than to cling to or to be so negatively obsessed with a “Reality” series about someone else’s struggles in life, perhaps they wouldn’t be so harsh and incredibly judgmental. If anything – I think a reality series can perhaps show that in the end – with the love of a HIGHER POWER, a strong spirit, wonderful family & friends – there can STILL be an option (at some point) to reach out, to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and face the music (literally in her case) and “Dance With Somebody Who Loves You”. Hell – I can’t even do some of the same things I did 20 some odd years ago, and I never smoked crack and I live a very conservative lifestyle. And so (finally) to the “Haters” – It is much easier to pin a tail on a donkey if you’re simply an on-looker running from the stuff that you need to fix in your own life (running from your own ass), and not the one in the blind fold at any particular time in your life. How else is one suppose to rehabilitate themselves if not by taking steps to improve? I celebrate the ABSOLUTE gift & creative talent/skill that Whitney has offered (and now works to re-define) as an entertainer. I ADMIRE her very own courage to stay ALIVE and to work hard even attempt to do what it takes to get on track!!!!! Even if it turns out to be simply an attempt to overcome her circumstances, I applaude her and I encourage her. Keep it positive & keep it moving!

      • Shalla says:

I agree with you. Your words are an inspiration for me and I know I will have a great day today for that. Thank you. I love you Whitney and I wish you all the very best. I accept that you aren’t perfect and I just wish others would also

  10. Trish says:

I am a HUGE Whitney fan, but I agree with some of the other comments that her back-up singers sang a lot of the parts that she used to sing with such power!! Nonetheless, I still love her!! Go Whitney!!!

  11. kitkat says:

It was horrific! Her hair was styled so you couldn’t see she was stoned and she spoke the words more than sang the words. As for ‘poor Whitney’ it’s not like Bobby Brown kept her as a prisoner for god’s sake, she was to blame as well.

  12. thpeople says:

I really feel sorry for her. She does appear to be somewhat inebriated. Her stomach looks rather large which could be an indication of overeating or overindulgence in alcohol (beer) or other substances. Please, let’s all continue to pray for her. I don’t typically have an interest in celebs or their crazy lives but Whitney reminds me of the 80’s, a good time in my life. Her voice isn’t completely gone. She can improve with time. I wish her all the best.

  13. thpeople says:

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THE COMMENT BOBBY DIDN’T DO “ALL” OF THIS TO HER (DID ANYONE SEE “BEING BOBBY BROWN?” I REST MY CASE). AGAIN, LET’S PRAY FOR HER. PRAY THAT HER END WON’T BE THE SAME AS HER GOOD FRIEND, MICHAEL JACKSON. I THINK PART OF THE PROBLEM IS SHE GETS NERVOUS. NOT TO MENTION WHITNEY SEEMS TO BE IN DENIAL THAT SHE IS AN ADDICT WHETHER SHE IS USING OR NOT. FOLKS SHOULD STOP CRITIZING HER AND START TRYING TO HELP HER. SHE NEEDS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. Susan says:

I think she was on crack tonight. She was sweating heavily through the first song and almost fell down the stairs on the second. Voice was bad.

  15. whitneys dealer says:

Once a crack whore always a crack whore. I’m only watching next time if she is naked.

  16. Jotaki says:

I feel so bad for Whitney. All of her performances so far have been weak. She looks tired, out of shape and sweats so much every time she performs. You can see that she is really struggling and has not been able to catch her breath. I dont know if she will ever get her true voice back because she is not even close right now.

  17. joscks says:

Are you kidding me? It’s fabulous that I just really met my Mr.Right at a wealthy romance site Billionairepal.com. Are you still single and looking for perfect match to flirt with and much more? Try it out and it will help you find your true love…

  18. Barb says:

I didn’t see that anyone mentioned the “the 80’s” were almost THIRTY yeas ago and the poor woman is 46. Yeah, she did have a hard time catching her breath. Granted, she has done all of this to herself but by golly, even if she had been a saint, time alone can take it’s toll.

  19. Me says:

Bobby Brown did not make Whitney Houston do anything. Whitney chose to do drugs and fuck up her life and career. I’m so sick and tired of hearing people blame Bobby for the decisions Whitney Houston made for herself. I’m glad she has cleaned up but you know what she did it to herself. If your cousin Frida had made the same choices she would be your drug addict cousin and you wouldn’t be praising her would you?

  20. Jay says:

whitney may not have been ‘held prisoner’ during her time with Bobby as so many of you are so keen to point out but there must have been something wrong in her life for her to take the path she took and sometimes its not easy ‘to get out’ even if you want to – but she did so eventually – the only person she really hurt was herself so whay all the HATE towards her – she didn’t kill anyone or abuse anyone – but i guess thats the society we live in….
as for ‘the voice’ – she still is better then most of the so called wannabes out there and its sad that the only person she is being compared to really is herself (20 odd years ago) – i’m just glad she’s still around and love the new sound – but i do sometimes feel maybe the record company is working her to hard
    - her performance on the the music award show was excellent .

  21. melvin says:

What a sad sight! She is high as a kite!

  22. Daniela says:

I love Whitney. She sounded terrific on her recent performances! This was not one of her best, because her voice needed a bit of rest. But she was stunning during all her recent performances. And those people on here who want to make her bad once again should take a look at her recent xfactor performance and Sunday´s American Music Awards Performance, Wetten Dass Show in Germany. Her voice was excellent during all her recent gigs! This is the first time her voice needed a bit of rest. And after all she is just a person like you and me. Everyone should imagine singing on stage every few days in another country. This is super hard work, and yes, there will be times when her voice is not on top, but nevertheless she did a great performance! Whitney is still one of the best live performers out there. All the haters should try to make it better, before they put out their bad comments on here!

  23. nippy41 says:

she did a great job……..she is back and she look great..

  24. Ella says:

So sad. She can’t sing-no matter what excuse she has.

  25. Jimmie says:

Whitney gets credit for getting back in the game, but she does not sound like she used to. Her voice sounds hoarse most of the time, she rarely sings an entire line of the song like she used to, now she seems to talk the lines or speak them more than sing them. She also adlibs terribly and cannot belt out as in days past. I do love some of her new recorded songs, but live, she is not that good anymore. They should have had Donna Summer on. Now, that’s a timeless vocalist, even at 60.

  26. Princess says:

Whitney looks great but she is 46 and her voice is worn out…it happens to everyone, the voice just changes plus I’m sure the drug use didn’t help…you can still hear the great voice but it’s just not what it was:(

  27. Dave says says:

Whitney was a superstar as her voice was spectacular. It is sad to see her struggle with songs as she is unable to reach most notes and seems to be talking her way through songs. Keep getting your life together and hopefully some day your magnificent voice will return. No individual wants to admit they have lost it however, at this point it is obvious Whitney can no longer sing!

  28. Donna says:

Poor performance compared with her voice years ago……….I like the old rendition better. Whitney struggled with being drowned out by orchestra and back up singers. Sorry………….
