Adam Lambert Performs, Discusses Going “Too Far” At AMAs On The Ellen DeGeneres Show

It’s been over a week and Adam Lambert’s racy performance at the 2009 American Music Awards is still a hot topic. Today (December 1), he discussed it one more time on The Ellen DeGeneres show. “I forgot that this is the first time people are seeing me on TV again after [American Idol],” he said. “It was maybe a little bit too far… Maybe that wasn’t the best first impression to make.”
He does admit that while he had “fun” on stage, some people viewing the performance walked away feeling disrespected. “I would never intend to disrespect anybody.” He says his dad urged him to apologize after the fall out, but that was a no-go. “I was like ‘Well, Dad, I don’t feel like I did anything wrong. It just maybe wasn’t the right judgment call.’”
With controversy aside, he was able to showcase his amazing voice with a performance of his new single, “Whataya Want From Me,” from his brand new album, For Your Entertainment.

Well, I think Adam’s performance during AMA night was not just “too far” but also disgusting. Period. it seemed like he forced people to accept him as what he is, instead of letting people to adjust and digest about him and just performed and showed people that he deserved to be accepted as a talented singer with an amazing vocal range, instead of a singer with a wild, disgusting and overly provocative performance.
I wish that everyone would leave him alone. He is a great artist, and he is just trying to find his place. He is a great singer and a great actor. He truly knows how to put his emotions and feelings into a song. He doesn’t need to be so serious in every song.
I love him no matter what, and I will never give up on him. He will leave his mark in the entertainment world. He got a lot of attention after the AMA’s good or bad, at least he got recognition. Now a lot of people know who he is.
Black or white, gay or straight – he will always be my idol. He is a very good looking man with a lot of things that he wants to make people think about through his music.
Never give up Adam!!!! Also, never change who you are to make other people happy.
You take it in the poopie hole too, don’t you Jodi?
I think Adam is great, just the way he is. He’s an entertainer for god’s sake!!!
People already know that he is gay. Who won’t be able to see that? The make-up, foundation, the eyeliner. He didn’t have to perform like that just to show people that he is gay. Some other singers who are gay don’t perform like that. They performed nicely, properly and politely and people still love them. And I believe many polite gay people think that he was too much that night, seriously.
