Looks like Adam Lambert and ABC are playing nice again.
The electrifying rocker will sit down for some chit-chat with the ladies of The View on Thursday, December 10, Lambert tweeted and ABC confirmed. The interview and a performance will be pre-taped due to a scheduling conflict, reports the LA Times.
The sudden change of pace comes on the heels of the network canceling two major appearances involving Lambert: a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live and Dick Clark‘s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. “Don’t blame them. It’s the FCC heat,” Lambert tweeted about the situation.
Perhaps the turn around was due to mounting pressure from GLAAD (the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) to spotlight what they feel is a double-standard being cast on Lambert for his racy performance at the American Music Awards a couple weeks back. “ABC has taken a step towards fairness by inviting Adam Lambert to perform on The View,” GLAAD president Jarrett Barrios said in a statement. “GLAAD has been advocating against the double standards that have been applied to Lambert as an openly gay performer. We thank community members and allies for voicing their concerns with ABC so that entertainers like Adam have the opportunity to be broadcast into living rooms across America.”
Adam will also appear on ABC as one of Barbara Walters‘ 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009 which is set to air December 9.

It would’ve been more favorable if ABC acted out of their own will.. They invite him back because of fans protest, bah, are they really desprate for reputation?
ABC/Disney is a big business and the goal of business is to make money. They can’t do that if the majority of their viewership thinks their behavior is wrong and boycotts them and their sponsors. So get your facts Freya; this was not a case of a network “acting of their own will,” as you said. This was ABC/Disney caving to the same bigoted, homophobic, Christian organization that said the purple Teletubby was gay! That’s who filed the FCC complaint and the 1500 calls that ABC supposedly got complaining about the AMA’s was less than 1% of the millions watching. So using your argument, ABC kept canceling Adam Lambert from further performances because of an infinitesimal amount of judgemental prudes that could have changed their channel after Janet Jackson grabbed a man’s crotch, after Eminem rapped about 17 rapes and 400 murders, after Rhianna was barely dressed and had multiple assault weapons in her act, but chose to watch the whole show and only saw fit to complain about the gay man’s performance. Did fans protest this injustice and double standard? You bet, and so did people who aren’t even fans, but can recognize a witch hunt when they see one. People who have rational thoughts and decry this kind of bigotry are the majority, so yes, Adam was invited back to ABC partly because of fans’ protests. You see, this is big business and when you destroy your reputation, as ABC/Disney was doing by blackballing Adam Lambert, they were indeed desperate to repair their reputation with us, the majority. It ain’t that deep; it always comes down to the bottom line – money.
