Chris Brown Brings Non-Stop Party To Baltimore With “Fan Appreciation” Tour

Let many critics tell it, Chris Brown was supposed to disappear into obscurity after a year of mostly lows, but he didn’t get the memo.

On December 8, his new album, the half dance floor-minded, half reflective set Graffiti, which features the top 40 hit “I Can Transform Ya,”  landed in stores.  He’s been traveling around the country for close to a month performing on his “Fan Appreciation Tour” to promote the new collection of music, and thank his fans for standing by him through his troubled times.

He’s only playing intimate venues — mostly 2,000-person capacity no-seaters — but even still, the tour was predicted to be a low-selling failure. Again, Brown and his loyal fans didn’t get that memo. Each show so far has been a sold-out success. Friday night’s (December 11) show in Baltimore, Maryland was no different.

The frigid cold temperature outside couldn’t keep the fans away, as many lined up for hours outside of Sonar Lounge to get a good spot to see C. Breezy. Once inside, they piled together close to the tiny stage to await his arrival. He took the stage around 9p.m. to transform the concert into a party with a high-energy set packed with chart-topping singles, like “Run It,” “With You,” and “Yo (Excuse Me Miss),” and dazzled with astonishing dance moves.

His age, only 20, is easy to forget seeing how his year was spent dealing with very adult issues, but he reminded everyone of just how young he is with the most important thing on his wishlist being his next girlfriend. She has to have a good body, be smart, smell good, but, “most importantly, she has to be able to do this…” he said before “Drop It Low,” his single with singer Ester Dean, started.

The live show wasn’t always such — a vocal backing track was employed for a few songs (“Transform Ya,” “Take You Down,” and “Crawl”)  — but the fans didn’t seem to mind, especially since Brown took more than a few moments to prove he’s no phony when it comes to singing. He offered acapella snippets of “I’ll Go” and “Brown Skin Girl” from his brand new album, and made the mostly teenage crowd swoon uncontrollably (and their parents uncontrollably uncomfortable) with a spontaneous brief cover of R. Kelly‘s “Bump and Grind.”

He wrapped the show with the flawless pop opus “Forever,” where he layered his vocals with the robotic sounds of a vocoder microphone. His appreciation for his fans was summed up with one tweak of the hit’s lyrics: “I won’t let you fall, B-more.” Judging by the reaction from the crowd, they don’t intend to let you fall either, Breezy.

I liked this review, it made a change to hear positive news! I’d love to see Chris Brown in concert, he’s the next best thing to MJ, he could be as great as him if he believes in himself and doesn’t get corrupted by people around him. I hope the media don’t destroy him. If they keep treating him like a devil, he might start acting like it and I don’t want that to happen – he’s too good!!!

Chris, don’t read too much in to what the media say about you or your new album right now, because if someone is good they try to take them down. Be the bigger person and don’t write negative things back cause they will love that and it will turn them more against you. Always be positive, it’s how you face your enemies that makes you. Stand up and have faith. Many, MANY people like you and respect you as an artist (and a person). Don’t lower yourself to some of the media’s level, just keep working hard. I bought your Album and I’m sure more people will too in time. I’m from Bristol, England (UK). I’m spreading the breezy word!! Chris Chris Move ya feet!!

Oh yeah, my girlfriend is pregnant and I thought up a new line for your transform ya song, it goes like this: “I can transform ya, I can transform ya, I even changed you from a sperm into my daughter!” hahaha.

Geezy’s post helped me understand why bitch beater brown still has fans. Multiply the number of halfway houses in each city by the number of dumb-coonasses in that cities trailer parks…

BIG UPS!!!!! glad to read a positive review about Chris versus the biased BS that other media outlets try to feed us on a daily. I don’t think fan or followers of Chris & Ri have forgotten “The Incident” but we have moved on and either made the decision to give him a FAIR 2nd chnace to prove he is changed or STOPPED talking about the incident all together and focus on the music and enteratinment side. I wish more people would do the same. Also, if Chris reads the blog comments I hope he gets the message to stop airing his personal opinions, the media is foaming at the mouth for something to say ” I told you he hasn’t learned his lesson” or worse ” see and people say he doesn’t have an anger problem”. Keep your head up Chris, stay positive and be grateful to just be able to still have a record company, allowed to do music and be on the scene even though right now it’s not as big a scene as you used to have. Remember, they can knock you down, but only you and your actions can make it a knockout. Stay deteremined and choose how to best fight your battles and in the media via twitter and other public outlets isn’t it. Keep in mind that when you do things like that it not only makes you look bad but also the people you have working for you (as if they don’t know what they are doing) you should have talked w/ your people about the problem and let them handle it. Also, I don’t know how you became aware of stores not stocking the shelves but I hope you validated this claim before taking the words of fans and random people, people love to get shit started. That being said I am behind you all the way and praying for you and your return to the top :) Just want the best light to shine on you and for you to receive the blessings meant for you.
P.S. I purchased 2 deluxe editions and love the new sound and vibe of the album, stays on rotation in my car.
