Think the sound of Nick Jonas‘ new band, The Administration, is a new direction for him? Think again. According to the 17-year-old singer, this is the music that comes from his “roots.”
In an interview with Billboard.com, the youngest Jonas Brothers member talks excitedly about the new project, saying it allows him to craft songs that aren’t “necessarily right for the Jonas Brothers sound.”
“With this record, the overall template was 60s and 70s funk-rock and, at times, soulful rock,” he told the website. “I got a little deeper with that and (influences) like Stevie Wonder, Elvis Costello, Prince…really just discovering myself in this project and working with these (Administration) guys to draw out our individual inspirations and experiences to make this record.”
The new band is releasing their debut album, Who I Am, on February 2 and will launch a nation-wide tour January 2 in Dallas, TX in support of the set.
Though Nick will be busy promoting his new band, he promises the Jonas Brothers are not breaking up, just taking a break. “We all have individual things that we’ll be doing and just learning how to balance each one of our individual dreams along with our dreams together.” Kevin just got married to long-time girlfriend Danielle Delesea, and Joe will pursue a career in acting.
If you’re still missing the Jo Bros in 2010, you can look forward to a second season of their Disney Channel sitcom JONAS, the D-COM premiere of “Camp Rock 2″ and its accompanying soundtrack.

This whole thing like he MUST express himself through a side project is nonsense, such a power play. He clearly can’t accept that he is better as a member of a band, which has other talented members. How arrogant.
