Lisa and Jessica Origliasso, the raven-haired twin sisters of The Veronicas, had a lot to celebrate last week. Not only did they have a great Christmas with their family and friends back in Australia, the day also doubled as their 25th birthday.

Instead of selfishly being showered with gifts, the girls decided to give one to their fans in the form of a brand new song called “Could’ve Been.” They uploaded a video of themselves singing the new tune to their YouTube account on December 24.

The beautiful but melancholy ballad replete with regret and yearning was written by the twins for their upcoming album, which they intend to start recording in January. In another video to intro the song, Jess says the song isn’t exactly the style the new album will take on, but it’s something they came up with while just writing for the album.

The Veronicas’ last album, Hook Me Up, featured the hits “Take Me On The Floor” and “Untouched.”
