Taylor Swift may claim to be Fearless on her sophomore album, but she should be a little afraid of Susan Boyle.
The Scottish singing sensation is closing in on Swift’s grip on the best selling album of 2009 title by selling an astonishing 510,000 copies of her debut album, I Dreamed A Dream, last week. It’s good for another week at No. 1 — fifth in a row — and a sales total of nearly 3million units sold since its release on November 23.
Swift’s set isn’t doing too shabby, though. The holiday shopping season has injected more life into Fearless; it moved over 200,000 copies last week, bringing its sales total to 3,157,000 copies according to Billboard.com.
Billboard notes there is one more week to calculates sales of 2009, as four days in the week ending January 3 falls within 2009. With holiday shopping over, and 175,000 units separating the two, the race is on.
In other chart news, Mary J. Blige’s latest album, Stronger With Each Tear, opens strong with 330,000 units scanned in its debut week, good for a No. 2 entry.
Mary adds herself to a long list of major artists and albums blocked by Boyle, including Lady GaGa, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, and Chris Brown.

GO SUSAN!
OMG, I’m soooo happy for her.
To do this in such a short period of time must make her the happiest person on earth right now.
She deserves this, her voice is something very special.
They call Susan Boyle ‘SuBo’. I wonder if they would be so brave if her first name was Samantha.
As a kid she was called ‘SamBo’ because of her black frizzy hair. In fact, someone in Blackburn mentioned seeing ‘Bet heavy on Sambo’ scrawled on a wall in Blackburn before the Britain’s Got Talent final.
Way to go,Susan! Good for you! I wish you all the best!
I wish with all my heart Susan beat Taylor Swift she deserve it, In the short time Susans Dvd has been out. I love Susan Boyle.
