Susan Boyle‘s second place finish on Simon Cowell‘s talent competition Britain’s Got Talent, and her resounding world-wide success thereafter has been nothing short of astonishing. So, could it be that Cowell’s other talent fight-to-the-finish, American Idol, is looking to duplicate her record-selling appeal?
Not exactly, but according to Idol judge Kara DioGuardi, the new season will have quite a few Boyle-esque moments. “I would say that there were more than a few times this season that someone walked in and sang and I was shocked that they didn’t have the appearance to have that voice,” DioGuardi told Billboard Magazine in an interview. “It was just kind of a ‘Whoa, where did that come from? Hold up.’ It’s like Susan Boyle.”
Cowell and the BGT judging panel initially laughed off Boyle’s audition as a joke because of her frumpy appearance until she blew them away with a soul-stirring rendition of “I Dreamed A Dream.” The song would go on to be the inspiration for her debut album of the same name, which has clocked an amazing five weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart and sold over 3millions copies in the United States alone.
The real test now is to see if America is ready for a Plain Jane or John with a remarkable voice to be the next Idol.
We’ll soon find out when the ninth season of American Idol premieres January 12 on Fox.

We heard the same thing last year on America’s Got Talent, and Susan Boyle still stole the show. They are not going to find abother Susan Boyle-especially in America where people are always on the watch for talent. This is just a way to get everybody to watch.
There is only one Susan Boyle…period.
And she’s amazing.
Another Susan Boyle ? You’ve got to be kidding! There is not another Susan Boyle anywhere and time will prove this to be true. Certainly there are other people with good voices out there and there are judges who will compare others to Susan Boyle but she is one of a kind-an international treasure!
Here we go again. They did that at the beginning of every talent competition last year and it appears they have not learned a thing from the ensuing results. No only is Susan Boyle a once in a lifetime experience, it is not fair to the competing talent to compare them with the incomparable.
Let them be themselves, good as they can be, and that should be enough for anyone.
Geez, give the “next Susan Boyle” thing a rest!!
“I would say that there were more than a few times this season that someone walked in and sang and I was shocked that they didn’t have the appearance to have that voice,†DioGuardi told Billboard Magazine in an interview.”
Uh, so this idiot thinks that voices and appearance go hand-in-hand? Did Susan provde that to be wrong? Hey, I’m pretty cute but can’t sing worth a cr@p. Would that be shocking to DioGuardi? They shouldn’t allow such a prejudiced judge on the show! I can’t believe she’d say something so stupid.
Another Susan Boyle? Forget it. There IS only ONE Susan Boyle.
Oh come on, are we going to hear this about every freakin talent show contestant again this year?
Enough already.
Susan Boyle was used enough, let the contestants make it on their own like she did.
Are you kidding? There is only ONE Susan Boyle. The only thing we are going to see on AGT are wannabe’s ! Actually I am boycotting anything that Simon Cowell is a part of. If Simon Cowell doesn’t have the ba##s to take Sharon Osborne off his payroll then I have no respect for him or his music productions with the exception of Susan Boyle.
