Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell - Michael Becker/FOX
Another season of American Idol is on the way, and, as with almost every season, a hoard of pre-premiere rumors are making their way around the internet. The biggest rumor is the possibility of top judge Simon Cowell leaving the show.
Cowell’s brother Tony might have let the cat out of the bag when he announced on his weekly podcast, The Cowell Factor, that Simon will walk out after this season to focus on bringing his British talent competition, X Factor, to the states.
Fellow judge Randy Jackson was asked in an interview with Billboard.com to shed some light on the situation, but it seems he’s cloaked in darkness with the rest of us. He’s not buying into the rumors just yet, though. “I won’t believe it ’til I see it,” Jackson told the website. “I haven’t spoken to him about it.
“You just never really know; there are a lot of alleged things going on, but who knows, right? We’ll see what happens.”
The ninth season of Idol is moving forwards sans original judge Paula Abdul, who abruptly quit the show last August. She’s being replaced by comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.

what! Isn’t he the one that started all of this and he is going to walk out!? HA! What kind of guy would do that?……..maybe this is just for publicity for the show….who knows…..they like drama right? and great ratings? Whatever happened to finding the greatest musical artist out there? Hope they don’t lose focus on what their first goal was, finding a great musician….or maybe the first goal was to make money…..
apparently simon is bringing the x factor( the brit version of american idol which discovered leona lewis, alexandra burke and jls) to america and he will judge that.
