Singer/actress Michelle Williams spent most of the summer in 2009 starring as Roxie Hart in the London’s West End production of Chicago. She’ll now be bringing the role home to the States when she joins the Broadway cast.
The former Destiny’s Child singer will begin her limited engagement starting February 8. She’ll play her final performance March 28.
Williams is no stranger to the theatre stage. She made her Broadway debut in 2003 when she played the lead role in Elton John and Tim Rice‘s Aida. In 2007, she starred as the feisty Shug Avery in the traveling production of The Color Purple, scoring rave reviews for her soulful portrayal.
Michelle will take over the lead role after another singer/actress, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, ends her run on February 7.

Was delighted when I heard the news – as I got to meet her twice when she was in London last year.
I’m really looking forward to her next album and her future without Music World Entertainment! =D
