Ke$ha Ends Susan Boyle’s Chart Reign, Notches No. 1 Album And Single

Whoever said talent can conquer all was wrong. Turns out all you really need is a sick beat and drunken lyrics to shoot to stardom.

After five weeks of ruling the Billboard 200 album chart, Susan Boyle‘s I Dreamed A Dream takes a backseat to newcomer Ke$ha‘s debut set, Animal.

The album, packed with party tunes from the former songwriter to pop stars like The Veronicas and Miley Cyrus, sold 152,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen Soundscan and reported by Billboard.com. Boyle’s Dream held up its strong sales, shifting 93,000 copies.

The good news doesn’t end there for Ke$ha. Her single, “TiK ToK,” notches another week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, making it a double whammy of chart glory for the self-proclaimed party girl. “TiK ToK” has spent a total of four weeks at No. 1 so far.

Her chart reign doesn’t appear to be a long one. Early projections place Vampire Weekend‘s latest effort, Contra, in the top spot next week.
