Hip-Hop/pop spark-plug M.I.A. is about to release a brand new album this year that she promises will contain “no gimmicks.” From the looks of it she’s either teasing fans with new music in the most authentic way possible or the most gimmicky way: via Twitter.
The rapper/singer debuted the video for a new song, which may or may not be on her new album, and may or may not be called “THERES SPACE FOR OL DAT I SEE.” (That line followed the video in her tweet and is also a line in the song.)
The track starts with blaring sirens before mellowing out into a spacey, synth-laden groove. As for the video, it’s a simple affair focusing on lights and shapes that change with the rolls of the beat.
The as-yet-untitled album will be the follow-up to M.I.A.’s 2007 effort, Kala, which delivered the hit single “Paper Planes.”

Uh, I enjoyed Kala and Arular a lot, but this? No. I’ma need somethin’ mo’ better, M.I.A.
