Ke$ha Doubles Up On The Singles Chart, Rihanna’s “Hard” Is A Top 10 Hit

Ke$ha - keshasparty.com

Like it or not, Ke$ha is shaping up to be this year’s breakout star, and she has the numbers to back her up.

Her club-ready single “TiK ToK” tops the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for a fourth straight week, while another song from her debut album, Animal, starts in the top tier. “Blah Blah Blah” featuring party rockers 3OH!3 comes in at No. 7 thanks to strong download sales. As previously reported, Animal debuted on the Billboard 200 album chart at No. 1 yesterday.

In other top 10 news, Rihanna earns her 13th top 10 single with “Hard” featuring Young Jeezy. The track moves from No. 15 – No. 9. This ties her with Beyonce for the most top 10 singles by a female artist on the Hot 100 since the beginning of the new millennium. (The two are also tied for most No. 1 singles by a female artist in the last decade.)

This week’s top ten singles according to Billboard:

  1. Ke$ha – TiK ToK
  2. Lady GaGa – Bad Romance
  3. Jay-Z featuring Alicia Keys – Empire State of Mind
  4. Iyaz – Replay
  5. Owl City – Fireflies
  6. David Guetta featuring Akon – Sexy Chick

Ok, I just don’t get Ke$ha. I listened to her whole album. I tried to be fair. But it’s just baaaaad. TiK ToK is probably the catchiest of the songs on it, but that’s not saying much. And “Blah Blah Blah”? The title says it all. Ugh. Why can’t the breakout star of 2010 be a real singer?

I’m kind of thrilled, though, that Train’s “Hey Soul Sister” is currently #2 on iTunes. I didn’t see that coming. It’s not my favorite song off their latest album, but at least it’s a real band, with songs that didn’t require 10 studio engineers to make sound decent.
