When r&b singer Kelis received a personal letter from PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), she couldn’t sit idly by and let them scold her for her choice to wear fur.
A pissed off and painfully misinformed Kelis penned her very own open letter to PETA as a response to the personal attack.
“There is no humane way to kill anything, let me start there. It’s unfortunate but it’s part of life,” she said in her lengthy blog post. “With that being said, I would eat pterodactyl if you found some and you told me it was meaty and delicious.”
Seemingly under the impression that PETA’s only cause is to protect animals that she considers to be rodents, Kelis justified her fur wearing choice by stating “if I started wearing endangered animals like polar bear or orangutan then talk to me.”
“But the minks and chinchilla that quite honestly are rodents and if weren’t in the form of a coat I would demand they be put to death anyway are not an issue to me”
Fan reaction to her PETA response letter appears mixed. While some fans agree with her view on the issue, others strongly disagreed, even correcting some of her points through posted comments. To read the full letter, visit Kelis’ official Myspace blog.

Kelis speaks the truth! These PETA idiots all wear clothes from Wal-Mart/ASDA, Next and Primark and are alright with the exploitation of fellow humans but when it comes to the rights of come glorified rats, they get all up in arms? While i don’t agree with wearing fur, PETA are the biggest bunch of self-righteout idiots I have ever seen
this is hardly a reason to WEAR FUR tho surely ?
what these moron ‘celebrities’ dont realise is whilst they are wearing mink they are advertising fur and promoting the cruel slaughter of ‘cheaper’ animals such as cat and dog to meet the high street demand FACT! educate yourself kelis and kanye NO fur source can be guaranteed even Louis Vuitton.
