Lady GaGa and Jay-Z are being recognized for their international superstardom. The two chart-toppers have earned nominations in multiple international categories at the 2010 BRIT Awards, it was announced today.
GaGa, who has already been confirmed as a performer for the show, boasts three nominations. She will go head-to-head with Taylor Swift for International Breakthrough Act, vie for International Female Solo Act against Rihanna, Ladyhawke, Shakira and Norah Jones, and see if her album, The Fame, has the right stuff to take down Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3, Animal Collective‘s Merriweather Post Pavilion, Black Eyed Peas‘ The E.N.D., and Empire of the Sun‘s Walking on a Dream for International Album.
Along with Jay’s International Album nomination, he faces some stiff competition for International Male Solo Act, going against Bruce Springsteen, Eminem, Michael Buble, and Seasick Steve.
Kanye West, Michael Jackson, and others are up for a special award, BRITs Performance of Past 30 Years. West’s 2006 performance of “Gold Digger,” and the King of Pop’s 1996 performance of “Earth Song” may score the award.
The BRIT Awards will take place February 16 at Earls Court in London.
