Melanie Fiona Dedicates “Redemption Song” Cover To Haiti

Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Melanie Fiona is sick and locked in her apartment, but even she is doing what she can to raise money for the victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. Besides making a donation at HopeForHaitiNow.org, Fiona decided to lend her voice to the cause by offering some inspiring words through a cover of Bob Marley‘s “Redemption Song.”

What — wait, wait — this sounds too familiar. Oh, that’s right! Rihanna also covered the song earlier in the week on an episode of The Oprah Show and made it available for download on iTunes with all of the proceeds going directly to Haiti relief.

Melanie might be stepping on Rihanna’s perfectly painted toes here, but there’s no denying how powerful her version is. No band or production needed. Fiona is a star.
