Before taking on the nerve wrecking task of performing the National Anthem at the New Orleans Saints VS. Minnesota Vikings game yesterday in New Orleans, reigning American Idol champ, Kris Allen, took to his Twitter account to express his joy in having the opportunity.
“Feel really privileged to be singin the anthem at the NFC champ game,” Kris tweeted. “This place is awesome.”
He carried that awesome feeling over to his performance where he gave a heart felt performance of the Star Spangled Banner.
Why would anyone want #88/Shockey stuff? He has not yet palyed a full game as the suppossed “animal” he claims to be. He should not be on the team as he contributes nothing to the effort. Thomas eats his lunch..He does have a good excuse for his efforts and I quote “My pussy hurts”
Love Kris! He did a great job, how anyone is able to sing in front of that many people with the light up is beyond my comprehension!

I thought Kris was a poor choice. In a pre game interview, he admitted that he was not a Saints fan, and seemed to be pretty clueless about the Saints and New Orleans. Plus, New Orleans is of course the home to so many talented musicians. In the Saints Cardinals game, we had Kermit Ruffins and Jeremy Davenport, sharply dressed jazz trumpeters, perform the anthem beautifully. WHy go with the corporate souless pablum American Idol in a city that breathes real music?
Not everyone are a fans of a football, but if they were asked to sing, I am pretty they will sing the National Anthem. Well, you said it lady, New Orleans is the home of so many talented musicians, and there he was, Kris Allen, singing the NA – it is self-explanatory, everybody love Kris except you. Move on….
Kris did a fantastic job. Kris had the number one video on VH1 this week and sang the National Anthem BEAUTIFULLY, plus Kris is going to Haiti to help out the people of that country. I loved his NA, and loved his ‘twang’.

I thought Kris did a great job. There are a lot of quality musicians from New Orleans but this was a championship game and it wasn’t only about New Orleans but about Minnesota as well. I think it was a wise move to choose someone without clear ties to either team. Kris was a great choice as he brought in more viewers. His single is continuing to rise on the charts. I would probably have watched the game anyway, but with Kris singing, I definitely watched.
Simply a heartfelt rendition that resonates well with Kris’ gorgeous vocal tone. Kris sang it with so much passion that stirs your own so much so you are drawn to sing the anthem along with him.
I absolutey love it. Well done Kris.
