Jay-Z, Rihanna, Bono and The Edge brought their star power together to help Haiti, and they also managed to score themselves a hit.
“Stranded (Haiti Mon Amour),” from “Hope For Haiti Now,” the album which features live tracks from various artists who performed on last Friday’s telethon of the same name, will debut at No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart this week, thanks to the strong sales of 131,000 downloads in just two days, according to Billboard.com.
The track, which was produced by Swizz Beatz, is available on the album twice; once as a live version, again as a studio recording.
Justin Timberlake and newcomer Matt Morris also charts with their duet of “Hallelujah.” The song sold 64,000 downloads, good for a No. 48 debut.
As reported yesterday, “Hope For Haiti Now” tops the Billboard 200 album chart and becomes the first digital-only album to do so in Billboard’s history, with sales of 171,000 downloads.
