Solange Knowles joins Beyonce’s fans in the peeved group over how some media outlets are covering the 52nd annual Grammy Awards.
Beyonce broke a Grammy record by winning six awards last night — the most awards won by a female artist in one night in the history of the awards show. Her wins include a few in the R&B and pop categories, but she took home the big Song of the Year honor for her ubiquitous hit “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It).” Still, many outlets are naming 20-year-old country darling Taylor Swift as the night’s big winner for taking home the top prize of Album of the Year in addition to three other awards.
“Im sorry but i’m having another kanye rant moment. My sister BROKE THE RECORD for the MOST GRAMMY’S IN ONE NIGHT BY ANY FEMALE,” Solange wrote on her Twitter account. “So why do i KEEP seeing ‘other artist’ as the Nights ‘big winner’….(*kanye shrug here) ????”
A flood of responses came Solange’s way. Many agreed, but others defended Taylor. “Okay, Taylor Deserves her congrats. She worked just as hard as your sister.ur sister has been in the game for along time,” one commenter wrote.
Solange didn’t harp on it, though. “Wowzers 2 some responses. Good darnit……im glad folks agree. Ok. On to the next one:)”
No one is saying anything about Taylor not deserving. Solo is talking about people not understanding the fact Beyonce made HISTORY, Beyonce changed Grammy history not only did she have 10 nominations – she walked away with 6 – most won by a female in ONE night – not only that she is also African America – also the third female with the most Grammys overall. This is HUGE and for people to all say something about Taylor is crazy to me.
I agree but that goes to show how this society really is not taking nothing from Taylor because before the Kanye upstage he did on her at the MTV awards she held her own but clearly something is wrong with this picture when in fact Beyonce did make history…and let me add Gaga was robbed that night as well..but like she said on tho the next..

Also she is a great actress, and on top of that she makes up most of her own dance moves( she does them in 7inch heels) Taylor Swift probably doesn’t write her music. Even if she did all of it is about her falling in love with a boy and it is just dumb. Beyonce has been in this business since she was 12, thats 17 years. And beyonce has soled 10 times more album’s produced them, traveled the world like 6 times, and worked her but off every time. I do not see how you can compare Beyonce to Taylor of Taylor to Beyonce. It is like comparing Lebron to Kobe. Beyonce has has more time in the “game” than Taylor, she has had time to perfect her talent. So regardless they both won big and both made history. Its not a black or white issue because you could say that Taylor won because she is a white darling but in the other hand maybe the Grammys wanted to go politically correct so they gave Beyonce all her Grammys because she is black. She didn’t talk to the reporters, but she did an interview with Extra and Entertainment Tonight. But I agree with you, she shoulda got a press room shot with her grammys, like she did in 2004 and 2006.
it’s exaggerating to win 6 Grammys in one night. In just 7 years, she won a total of 16 awards with just three albums. Aretha Franklin and Allison Krauss won theirs over decades. I know Michael Jackson won 5 for Thriller but I Am Sasha Fierce? Is that album even groundbreaking? Compare? Beyonce’s album with Thriller and it’s nothing. It’s like now the Grammys are handing their awards like popcorn.

I personally think it’s very odd that the headlines aren’t about beyonce’s victorious, record- breaking 6 grammy wins in one night. If it was Taylor Swift(whose perfomance was critcized and only contributed to the questioning of her talent by the public) winning those awards she would have certainly recieved more praise and attention. She already has despite winning fewer awards. It’s been a constant effort made to prove kanye West wrong about his remarks concerning her. She’s been portrayed as this underdog that was a victim of being overlooked, when shortly after the spectacle she rose to new hieghts. She’s dominated all the award shows and it seems like it’s always silly to even expect Beyonce to win over her in catergory’s their both in. Beyonce won at the grammy in smaller, lesser catergories just so that a point could be made later when Taylor wins the war! I just think alot of people feel Beyonce is a little over -rated, so it’s not easy for them to see her being honored for her hard work. Gaga’s being shoved down our throats all year, but it’s never going to be an issue. I can atleast say, that she has some talent. Taylor’s talent along with her music on the other hand is very childish and hard to take serious if your older than 13. Lastly, Pink’s performance is seen as the highlight of the night, but it’s not even any mention of her doing three different versions of that same performance. It’s so funny what some artist can get away with. Beyonce , on the other hand will always have to do something extraordinary to get half the credit she deserves.

If it were up to me, Beyonce wouldn’t have gotten any award. “I am Sasha Fierce” is a crappy album with horrible lyrics and lackluster music. The Grammys ain’t nothing but a popularity contest these days.
I’m a black woman, and i do not own any of Beyone’s music, but I can’t avoid it because of family and friends worship her also. Yes she can sing has beauty, but I feel she is one of the most OVERRATED artists of all time. Look at the other female artists such as Jennifer Hudson, Jazmine Sullivan, Leona Lewis,and even Melanie Fiona voice delivery of the songs they sing. Is there no other artists that are deserving and worthy of awards instead every show the same one all the time? Heck, I think Susan Boyle has better voice quality than riffing and ranting and taking other people’s song and saying I wrote it. Learned that from her Papa, who is about the business of her getting songwriting credits. Maybe Solange needs to beg Papa to put more energy to help her career, because she may defend her big sis, but she knows she can never reach her sister’s plateau.
Why does Beyonce have to be sacrificed so that other black women can be recognized? Does this even make sense? It seems people believe she is the cause of other black women’s hardships and failures in the industry. Ciara, Amerie, Keri Hilson, Alicia Keys and Mary J. Blige all had hits during Beyonce’s reign. It’s not her fault that some of them can’t maintain their status. It’s just sad that as a black woman you can’t be happy for her, despite not like her music. she’s earned her keep in the music world.

I only read about half of these comments but if it hasn’t been pointed out before, it should be, that the Grammys are voted on by PEOPLE IN THE MUSIC BUSINESS. That means other artists, song writers, producers, etc. So Taylor’s (and Beyonce’s!) Grammys were awarded by their peers so the people that do the same jobs they do were the ones that said Fearless deserved Album of the Year. Maybe the industry is trying to give Taylor a blanket apology for inflicting Kanye on her but I don’t think it would be by giving away the industry’s highest honor UNLESS it was genuinely earned. I also wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out that Kanye was put up to his stunt by Jay-Z if anyone other than Beyonce won that MTV Award. I don’t remember who else was nominated but Kanye probably would have done the same thing even if someone else won. I’ve only seen enough of Beyonce’s Single Ladies video to know that Taylor’s You Belong with Me is far superior in my opinion. Taylor is an auteur when it comes to her music and my understanding is that she micromanages every nuance of every song. I for one am in awe of the massive talent packed into that young woman. That’s just my opinion and I’m sure that someone will disagree and that’s their right…
