If you want success, speak it into existence like Ke$ha. She said the party don’t stop, and it surely hasn’t.
Ke$ha’s “TiK ToK” is still rocking the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart party at No. 1 for its eighth straight week. Along with continuing its unending assault on the pop world, fending off hits by Lady GaGa, Black Eyed Peas, and Young Money, “TiK ToK” earns Ke$ha another spot in the music history books, as the song becomes the longest running No. 1 debut single by a female artist since 1977.
The top ten’s second biggest story this week belongs to the Black Eyed Peas. Their sizzling performance at the Grammys helped them place two songs firmly in the chart’s upper tier, as “Imma Be” bounces 4-2, and “I Got A Feeling” zooms back up from 16-9.
This week’s top ten singles according to Billboard:
- Ke$ha – Tik Tok
- Black Eyed Peas – Imma Be
- Lady Antebellum – Need You Now
- Young Money featuring Lloyd – BedRock
- Lady GaGa – Bad Romance
- David Guetta featuring Akon – Sexy Chick
- Train – Hey, Soul Sister
- Ludacris – How Low
- Black Eyed Peas – I Got A Feeling
- Iyaz – Replay

I’m going to start calling Ke$ha’s genre “Drunk Pop.” I’ll put 3OH!3 in that category too because their lyrics sound like they were all written when they were drunk.
And while I like “I Gotta Feeling” (because it has a semblance of a melody), I think the rest of BEP’s singles this era have been nonsensical droney crud. “Imma Be” is so monotonous that it makes me sleepy listening to it. And, wouldn’t you know, it just came on the radio. Excuse me while I take a sip of my Diet Coke to wake me up.
But I love “Need You Now.” It has a melody! Lady A doesn’t sound drunk when singing it! Gotta give props to “Bad Romance” and Train’s “Hey Soul Sister,” too. Although I sort of blame Lady Gaga for ushering in lesser, lamer versions of herself onto the chart (like Ke$ha). But I suppose she couldn’t have known.
I love Ke$ha… and Tik Tok is an excellent song!!! I’m happy for her
I feel bad for all the real musicians and real singers in the world
