Female Contestant’s Illness Forces American Idol Switch; Top 10 Guys Perform Tonight

Crystal Bowersox - Michael Becker/ FOX

American Idol producers have made a last minute switch to their performance schedule this week.

The top 10 girls were scheduled to perform tonight, but they will instead go on tomorrow due to contestant Crystal Bowersox being too ill to take the stage.

Fox issued a statement confirming the switch, saying: “Due to medical issues which would prevent Crystal Bowersox from performing tonight, the 10 male semifinalists will perform this evening, and the 10 female semifinalists will perform tomorrow night.”

Bowersox has been a judge favorite from the beginning, but she didn’t exactly make the biggest impression on Simon Cowell last week during this season’s first live performance episode with her rendition of Alanis Morissette‘s “Hand In My Pocket,” which Cowell dubbed “unoriginal.”

The schedule is expected to return to normal next week.
