Taylor Swift Sparkles On April 2010 Cover Of ELLE Magazine

Taylor Swift - Alexei Hay/ELLE Magazine

Taylor Swift is attracted to dresses that sparkle. Maybe it’s because she like things as bright as her career.

The Grammy-winning country star graces the cover of Elle Magazine’s April 2010 issue in a silver sequins-covered dress and her signature curly locks teased to add some sex appeal. She also smolders on the cover of Elle’s inside booklet dedicated to “power dressing,” and gives the curls a rest, showing off straight hair with bangs in the accompanying photo shoot.

In the issue, the 20-year-old ‘Fearless‘ singer says her biggest fear is “making a bunch of bad decisions and embarking on a painful, slow, devastating tailspin.” Despite a few light-weight controversies, it’s been so far, so good for Swift. But she says it’s not good enough for her to be good when other people could twist a situation and cause needless media scrutiny. “If I go to a bar, even if I’m not drinking, who’s to say that a source isn’t going to say that I was doing something I shouldn’t have been doing? So it’s not only about your own moral compass, but the moral compasses of other people that you don’t know.”

The interview isn’t all heavy, though. She talks about who she thinks is hot (“Um, well…Taylor Lautner.”), and drawing inspiration for songs from her relationships with guys. “I like to categorize the various levels of heartbreak,” she said. “I’ve only had that happen once. A letdown is worth a few songs. A heartbreak is worth a few albums.”

The issue in on newsstands now. See a few photos from the shoot below, and visit Elle for some behind the scenes footage.
