The third time is looking like it will be a charm for former Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland.
The Grammy-winning pop star is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on her as-yet-untitled third solo album, the follow-up to 2007′s Miss Kelly, and already new music is leaking. A new track, entitled “Smooches,” hit the internet today, whetting fans’ appetites for what’s to come.
Rowland takes a detour from the dance-pop sound of her hit with David Guetta, “When Love Takes Over,” and goes more hip-hop with “Smooches,” a sass-a-thon vocally delivered in the same vein as Keri Hilson‘s “Turnin’ Me On,” and features some of the same bass-bumping beats that made Lil Wayne‘s “A Milli” and Beyonce‘s “Diva” huge radio hits — that’s thanks to production by the producer of both of those songs, Bangladesh.
The song is a certified banger, but the only problem is it was slated to be fresh-faced singer/rapper Teyana Taylor‘s new single from her long-shelved debut album. So, at the moment, there’s no telling if Kelly will actually keep the song for her set, though it’d be foolish to drop this much heat on a newcomer.
