American Idol will get a little love next week from pop’s reigning chart princess, Rihanna, when she performs “Te Amo” on the results show, according to Entertainment Weekly.
“Te Amo,” which is taken from Rihanna’s platinum-selling album Rated R, has been a conversation piece since leaking to the internet early in 2009. The flamenco-inspired song follows the Bajan beauty as she has a little fun flirting with another girl, but has to tell her female admirer she isn’t interested in her in ‘that’ way when the girl’s feeling grow deeper.
No word on why Rihanna isn’t performing her current chart-topper, “Rude Boy,” though the song’s racy lyrics not being a match for the prime-time show could be the answer. She recently performed a more family friendly version of the song at the Kids’ Choice Awards.
As for Idol’s remaining nine singers, they will take on the Lennon-McCartney songbook Tuesday night.

Yay! I love “Te Amo” and I hope that either Te Amo or Photographs is the next single. Those two songs will have massive international appeal.
