Keri Hilson made one big embarrassing boo-boo while singing the Star Spangled Banner last night (March 31) at the Atlanta Hawks vs. Los Angeles Lakers basketball game.
The sultry singer was doing fine belting her heart out until the lyrics seemed to slip her mind. Almost skipping a verse, she was forced to noticeably back-track; a move that upset some fans attending the game, as captured in a YouTube video posted by a fan who was there.
After the performance was over, Keri took to Twitter to tweet about the hiccup, blaming bad sound. “Bad sound can really distract U!! Well it happend 2 Aretha & the best of em!! EEK!!” she tweeted. Still, when Keri got the lyrics right, she sounded pretty great.
She’ll get a national anthem do-over when she performs at the Red Sox/Yankees baseball game this weekend.
