Rihanna won’t be the only star showing the American Idol stage a little love this week.
American Idol season 7 runner-up, David Archuleta, will take the stage this Wednesday (April 7) during the results show. He’ll perform his rendition of the John Lennon classic, Imagine, to go along with this week’s Lennon/McCartney songbook theme week.
Also joining Archie and Rihanna during a packed night of performances will be newcomer Jason Derulo. He’ll tackle his latest single, the upbeat pop tune In My Head.

While I’m very happy that David will be on my TV again, I really wish he was singing a different song. Why sing that song for a third time, 2 years removed from his season? CRAZY. Gotta be that those nit-wit AI TPTB talked him into doing it AGAIN! He rarely ever sings it NOW!!!!!!! David please stop doing them favors, they’ve never ever done one for you. David’s earned everything he’s achieved these last 2 years with hard work and dedication.
I am just thrilled that David Archuleta will be performing on the show Wednesday. Even though it would be nice for people to hear David sing something else to show his versatility, hearing him sing Imagine again will be incredible! I truly never tire of that song from David, it gets to me every time. I am so happy that the American Idol stage will once again be graced by this amazing young artist! No one sings it quite like David can, what a great performer he is!
Yeah!!!! I’m so happy that David Archuleta is singing “Imagine” on AI this week!! He is amazing and that is my favorite song that David sang on Season 7.
I will be thrilled to see David reprising his Imagine performance on Idol. When he sang it in season 7 it was what hooked me as a fan forever. Now a new audience will get to hear him perform it live and on TV. It would have been nice if he had a new single ready to sing. Though he cowrote a lot of new songs and recorded a bunch – more than enough for an album, I don’t think the first single from those has been selected yet. I would be happy to see him sing anything but I love hearing him sing Imagine so I am very happy.
I love David Archuleta! But I’m bummed he’ll be singing Imagine. That is AI history and it shouldn’t be touched. Why not Hey jude, or something else? So many great Beatle songs waiting for David’s Midas touch! Oh, well.
Fantastic news that David will be performing………short notice, however. Must have been a last minute decision as I believe Rihanna was already announced as a guest a couple of weeks ago and we now hear about this two days before????? MAYBE THEY ACUALLY LISTEN TO US(fans of David A.)WHEN WE REQUEST THAT HE PERFORM!!!! I really feel that the guests on American Idol should all be former Idols (except for the mentors). Why would we want to see Justin Beiber or the Jonas Brothers, etc. on Idol. We get enough of them on other shows.
Do you all remember that David also did a wonderful job singing “The Long and Winding Road” during Season 7, the Beatles last hit, I think. Waiting for Wednesday……….
It’s fantabulous! to relive the Archuleta experience. Especially with his rendition of Lennon’s song Imagine again. If Idol would allow David to sing something current would be great or simply a cover song such as Bubbly or Thousand Miles or even Zero Gravity. Let the world experience how versatile this phenomenal talent truly is. Especially at the young age of 19.
David is a true vocalist whose techniques are a top notch class, and the emotional connections he makes are so real.
I really want him to sing at Idol Gives Back because he is the most inspiring guy Idol has ever had. He is involved in many charities and even scholarships created by his fans. His fans keep making fund-raising to donate money for the charities. I also want him to come back to Idol when his new single is out in spring. Idol should be proud of finding David who is the epitome of the goodness in this contaminated world.
Archie gave the best rendition of “Imagine” I´ve heard! Hopefully nobody will try and do it again on the show, not a wise thing to do, because nobody can top that performance! His vocals are exquisite, his technical skills are refined and the performance, wow… so tender and moving!
Plus, Archie is the perfect definition of everything who is pure, and kind, and ADORABLE!!!

Agree, David’s Top 20 performance of Imagine is a perfect minute in time, best left alone. Would have loved to hear him sing Hey Jude, but compared to not hearing him sing at all, go David!!
I AM VERY HAPPY TO SEE THAT DAVID ARCHULETA WILL BE SINGING ON AMERICAN IDOL THIS WEEK. HE HAS WORKED VERY HARD SINCE SEASON SEVEN AND I THINK HE IS AMAZING. ALSO THE SHOW IS CALLED AMERICAN IDOL SO WHY NOT KEEP THE TALENT ALL AMERICAN IDOL CONTESTANTS.
OMG, I don’t care what song he will sing what ever it is will please my ears, my eyes and my heart. It’s true that actualluy I want him to sing a different song. But, he will turn the place into a warm and loving place. I miss him so much. I wish that he is healthy, have enough sleep so he can perform his best. Last time he was so sick for several days when he sang “TMH”. Good luck David, I’ll record it!!!!!!!
This will be the biggest ratings week for AI because DAVIDS BACK!!!!!!!!! I agree with everyone, David SHOULD BE at Idol gives back due to all the charitable work he is involved with. We will always love David no matter what he sings, but it would be nice to add ZERO GRAVITY with Imagine on Wednesday to pump up the crowd since AI has been a great sleep inducer all season. Oh, and hopefully no one will be stupid enough to insult David while he’s there by comparing him to Arron what’s his name????????
Wow! Excited to hear that David Archuleta is returning to AI for Imagine! Lots has been written over here in Europe about this beautiful performance a few years back!
It doesn’t matter what David Sings on Idol, he is simply the best and I’m thrilled that we get to experience his beautiful voice again. And don’t worry soon his new Cd will be out and he’ll have performances everywhere on the planet. So lucky to be his fan. He blesses the lives of so many with his beautiful spirit and song. Tomorrow can’t come soon enough!
I am not a David A. fan….or Rihanna fan…..I like David cook and Clay aiken, but Adam was the top last year….I hope he can help these no talent kids and it is the worse the judges have picked out yet…Last year was the best as far as 4 or 5 of them…Went to the AI Show and I can say Adam was the star, but likes some of the others just to listen to…Lots left after Adam…..He is an amazing talent…..can’t wait till 13th to see him……..Go Adam

This is the first time that i will be watching AI again after David’s season. I am just too excited to see him perform. The Voice is back and i can’t wait !!!!!!!
When I was watching Season 7 of American Idol and David Archuleta sang “Imagine” — he got a fan for life. David’s voice/rendition of the song just blew me away. I’ve attended many of David’s concerts and he is just amazing on stage…along with being a very talented songwriter. I am sooooo excited David will be appearing on the AI stage again and singing “Imagine” — his fans have been hoping he would have an appearance this year! WOOT!
It will be so great to hear the amazing voice of David Archuleta on AI again. Perhaps the contestants (and the world) will be reminded what the term “singing” means (no screeching, notes on key, no crotch-grabbing distractions, no auto-tuning, and a passion for the music). I can’t wait!
To be honest, I was initially disappointed when I learned David Archuleta would be singing “Imagine” during Season 7. It’s actually a song I’ve never really liked — that is until he sang it! David infused the song with spirit and meaning, and his beautiful voice and nuanced performance lifted the song to new heights. I’m certain we’ll hear a new rendition from David this time around since he always manages to bring a fresh perspective each time he performs.

To tell the truth, tomorrow I will watch AI9,just for tomorrow. The reason is, because David A is back. Other than that, I won’t watch. Even if Rihanna, Miley, Usher, Bieber perform. I’ll wait until David performs and I’ll watch and record it.
I don’t really care what David Archuleta sings, I’m just so happy to get to see him on Idol. That’s the most positive thing Idol have done all season! I don’t usually watch the Wed. night show, but I will now. I only wish they would have let him sing something like “Zero Gravity” so he could show off his ‘new found performing skills’! Love you David, and I will always be your number one fan!!!!
Would like to see him again AI! To see guesting there all the time coz he’s a awesome talented good personality as an entertainer and be a part as a mentor guest star and being around entertaining again and again there to everyone…whole world love him.
