With this week’s American Idol theme being Lennon/McCartney songs, true Idol fans thought of one thing: season 7 runner-up, David Archuleta‘s rendition of Imagine.
Sitting at his piano, the talented young star returned to American Idol to remind fans of his epic performance and show the new contestants how it’s all supposed to be done.
David’s performance was sandwiched between two others during tonight’s (April 7) results show. Starting out the night, Jason Derulo took the stage with his new single. The night ended with a performance from pop princess, Rihanna.

Wow! David again shows why he was in the finals of AI. What a beautiful, quality vocal! His version tonite was so heartfelt and spot-on. All of these contestants could really take a lesson. Way to go, David —- Cant wait to hear you live AGAIN!
That, folks, is the way it should be done! David sang “Imagine” with a reverence for the original, but nevertheless infusing it with originality and spirit. Beautiful!

AMAZING PERFORMANCE by David Archuleta. A good example of REAL talent. David did not need dancers, leather outifits and special explosive lights. Only singers that need us to be distracted from their vocal imperfection.
David Archuleta was absolutely incredible. He is the perfect American Idol role model and now 19 years old. Our family was not impressed with the other entertainers who use the AI platform to promote their CD’s. EEEK! Congratulations David Archuleta for all your continued success. Your fans are so very proud of you. :)

Wow, His performance saved the show yesterday. Who agrees with me? The less talented vocals, the more gimmicks and extras to cover the weakness!

David’s performance was stellar last night and he certainly showed everyone how it is supppose to be done! No fancy technos or costumes, just pure talent and a fabulous voice!
Kathy, I sooo agree with your statement. It’s true, the real singer doesn’t need “fancy technos or costumes, just pure talent and a fabulous voice”. The real singer doesn’t need background dancers etc. That’s right that David was sandwiched between two performers, and usually the middle part of a sandwhich is the best part. Yum!!!!

David was beautiful last night (like in every way!!). His performance right before Rihanna’s really showed the difference between someone who can sing and those who hide behind lights and dancers to make people believe they can sing. I miss David!!
David you do a wonderful job with “Imagine”. Hope you put it on your next album. Loved seeing you again on Idol. I’m a senior citizen and I know a great voice when I hear one. You are awesome.
