Consider London’s G-A-Y officially rocked.
With his face done up in his signature drama-adding black eyeliner and sparkle (courtesy of some expertly placed rhinestones) and wearing all black, Adam Lambert performed at the venue last night (April 24) for a crowd of adoring fans to help the city kick off its pre-marathon festivities.
Lambert gave UK fans a preview of what they can finally have in their hands on May 3 when his debut album, For Your Entertainment, is released there. He performed a few songs from the album, including “If I Had You,” which can be seen on the other side.

Who’s the jerk with the whistle? Most annoying & quite disrespectful. Us Glamberts fiercely protect our Adam! You should be ashamed!
dont be silly. they were given out to everyone and many people were whistling in appreciation – it was a great show and that’s what we do when we like a singer! i still have mine and my ears are ringing from a great night! it was a solid performance and better than a lot of his recorded performances. i know people who really didnt like him at all and left impressed (maybe converted). the only annoying part of the evening were hetros making their way in and complaining about what it is that essentially makes the gay venue what it is. lots of semi-nudity, sweat and shoulder to shoulder room only! we somehow manage to not hold it against you by asking for middle aged straight women to be removed from what is a ‘gay bar’ (we only have so many places we can go). it’s all supposed to be fun and it was very much in a festival spirit, with the whistles, alcohol, drugs and bare-chested men gettin it on! I dont understand why he is only doing a gay venue and not somewhere else too to accommodate other demographics?!
there were only 150 to 200 people, not a huge number, so i guess they are relying on word of mouth within a loyal gay community. and just to add, we are happy to have you come to our clubs to see someone you follow, but it’s different, you have to understand. i still think playing only in g-a-y seems strange as we are a pretty specific demographic in terms of exposure and purchasing trends. more sales to be made from the hetros i would have thought? perhaps the few tv performances he will do will count for alot. either way, cracking night!
Dan, see my reply below about Adam Lambert only doing GAY.
G-A-Y is has famous -( Madonna,Rihanna etc) artists -both genders, straight, gay or bisexual- and is one of the most popular venues in Europe -for years now – and Adam’s gig was only one of several for the night – both genders attended=so ‘dan’ stop trying to make a fool of us, we aren’t.
You’re not gay or you would most likely know that the G-A-Y club isn’t a gay only venue. Did you attend when Rihanna played there? Ha!
I don’t know why people are interested about the demographics of the audience. What matters is the show, and from what I read all over the blogs, Adam was fantastic and it seems everyone enjoyed him. I loved seeing the boys going crazy for him, they were all cute and I think Adam was loving it. I loved his outfit and the makeup was spot on! He is just a superstar. I hope to see him soon, in fact I am waiting for the June tix, and hopefully I get to meet this beutiful dude.
I love everybody but I love Adam more!
Peace Bitchesssssssssss!
Dan, are you really that clueless or playing games ?
Adam is the type of performer that is a must see live. A studio recording does not quite capture his energy on stage or his immense stage presence. Though his studio voice is really impressive. Some of Adam’s fans act a little bizarre – like that person who posted first. Most I find are normal. But last nights venue should have been strictly for members only and regulars. His hetero fanbase can catch him at other shows.
Last night was for members only. By the time of Adam’s set, others were welcomed. All were young guys and gals.Mostly gals. Adam dosen’t care who his fans are, just who his lovers are. Wake up.
The G-A-Y club is one the the largest in Eupope and they get the best name entertainers from around the globe- like Madonna, for example – it is a sought after venue. It is first class high quality venue, several floors with various entertainers each level. Your description insprires me to believe you’ve never atteneded a concert there.
Hello ‘Dan” Ha! It was “Members Only” and BOTH GENDERS were at Adam’s gig (not a concert, lol ) and the venue is open for both sexes, and straigh, gay or bisexual – it features big stars from all over Europe – current and long-time artists – Madonna is the one most USA know – so your info is all, ah hemmm – misleading & misinformed.
I didn’t know Rihanna and Madonna were gay, oops, dan full of dodo, the venue isn’t only for the people who are gay and Adam’s audience was of both genders and all sexual orientation. His tour will be in a lot of cities at popular venues that other artists use. Poor dum dan.
Glamberts are so incredibly and constantly disrespectful to Adam and his sane fans with their psychotic need to “protect” him and their crazy, obsessive behaviors. He’s not YOURS. I’m all for straight, middle-aged, lonely, ugly women at Adam’s concerts but if they had any common sense they’d support him by hiding in the back, not jumping around under the stage grabbing at his crotch. Let the gorgeous young boys and girls up front so he has someone to flirt with. An interview on a local radio station said it all when the DJ asked him if he ever had any SOS and he lamented yeah he looks into the audience for someone to flirt with but most of his fans are straight women. Glamberts, get a clue. He doesn’t want to flirt with his mother’s friends! Foolish Glamberts are the ones who should be ashamed, not anyone blowing whistles at a gay club!
I’m one of the “foolish mother’s friends” (I’m 51 years old). I love Adam Lambert and can’t wait to hear him in concert. Believe me, all of us know we are old enough to be his mother, but its innocent enough to want him to flirt with us. WE ALL KNOW HE IS GAY!! Lighten up.
It’s not innocent, it’s absurd and self-centered. Just for a moment think of Adam. What makes you think a young gay man wants to flirt with you? If you were a performer would you want to flirt with an audience of 51 year old women? Would you want them grabbing at you? Did you see that latest interview where he’s talking about crazy fan behavior? Show some respect for the guy.
Okay… I fully understand if your gays are frustrated … it is YOUR place – you don’t think Adam’s other fans should be allowed to be at G-A-Y, but please remember we are fans too and we buy his album… if only gays bought his album and could see him in concerts … it wouldn’t be good to Adam.
I think if Adam wanted only to perform for gay people he would do it. Flirting with Adam is too much I think… if you are straight… young or old… show some respect and also show the place you visit to see Adam some respect. I am going to London Monday morning to see Adam at Heaven. I am 49, straight woman and I am only there to see Adam live because I think he’s an amazing singer, performer and has a wonderful personality.
I have ben there in my teens screaming and flirting… but not tomorrow… I just want to see him, listen to him and that’s all.
Amen sister! I thought music was universal?? I guess thats what we (what does the younger generation say), cougars always felt in the eighties, the love of music and dance. I’d say I’ve earned that status but to label his other venues would mean they’d be heters concerts, sooo that would mean no gays, right? I seriously DOUBT that. Who cares!! I doubt Adam would want to lose any fans. If he performed for a ONLY gay fan base he would NOT have the record sales he has now. I think he is intellent to realize his need to appeal universally. I thought thats what its all about. You’d think it would be appreicated that he does, I see it as opening doors and windows, hey? Furthermore fans are fans, NO ONE should be grabing him, I don’t care what your sexual orientation is. I would love to see him in concert as I think he is the most talented singer to come along in years. I want to take my granddaughter too, who is 4yrs old, she loves singing to his music. She recognizes and associate him as a performer, I would really hate to have to knock some peoples teeth out for acting as it sounds extremely inappropriate sexual orientation be damned. Shame on you English(Dan)for being greedy little buggers. Learn to share, we have!
Adam never complained about any fan behavior that wasn’t something that couldn’t be done by and wouldn’t be done by anyone over mid to late twenties. You make no sense whatsoever, unless you are hoping that they missed the interview. I support Adam and all his fans benefit him, unless they (hello) try to interfer with his fan base.
Are you just not getting the idea – fans of both sexes all ages across the globe is the goal. Adam flirts with whoever he wants in his private life and only has his gay lovers, but fans-the more the merrier. No limits. Limits are for losers.
^^Now THIS Is totally true of rockon. WTF @runnerkm. Flirt with you? WHY? And wtf are you talking about. Adam doesn’t even flirt with the audience in his shows. You are really cluelessly embarassing. JFC.
I agree with rockon. Seeing these middle-aged, overweight women trying to get near Adam Lambert is weird. For people like me who are just starting to become fans it’s a real turn off. For Lambert’s sake I hope he attracts more young fans to balance it out.
YOUNG GALS * GUYS CLOSE TO STAGE CAN CLEARLY BE SEEN on videos, so all your B.S..Cali asinine- and shows you up for the jac**** you are. As for fans, the more the better, any age, both sexes, the more the merrier-like for Michael Jackson,Elvis Presley and all the greats have has. Ha!
I wouldn’t put Adam on the same level with Elvis and MJ just yet. I’m glad he has some younger fans in the UK but in the US I’ve seen more 50ish blubberbutts following him than you’d think possible. It doesn’t look right.
If you don’t die an early death from sheer ignorance, you’re going to be 50 one day. Only a $tupid phool would make such a comment
I have a friend who took a hammer to his Adam Lambert CD after encountering some of the weirdness of his straight/older women fans. He said it would be too embarrassing to be associated with them and he refuses to go to any of Adam’s concerts for fear of ending up on a YouTube video beside them. I know that sounds funny, but he was very serious. Reading these posts from people who can support Adam without being obsessive gives one hope and it shows the Glamberts are not the majority. Too bad they give Adam such a bad reputation.
i feel sorry for your friend jay, maybe it was time for his bedtime that’s why he acted that way. tantrums?? oh mommy will give him a cuddle. oh my baby!!!
How stupid to destroy a CD because of anything anyone else says does or thinks except yourself. Pathetic loser.
i’d stay away from that character.Sounds like he has a mental problem.
you got that right girlfriend! Guy needs some serious help….Fu(K!
Every single American Idol contestant gets stuck with these middle-age women. That’s what happens when you try to get fame via television. You are going to end up with a TV audience for fans. It’s gotta be embarrassing to have crazy granny be your fan, but that’s what happens when you sell your soul.
Adam will be richer and more successful with ever increasing fan base. I think there may be a hidden agenda by people ripping on his fans, maybe to get them to turn away from purchasing tickets or supporting him in media blogs. They all know his orientation, since they defend him againt bigots, so I don’t think Melody has Adam’s best interest at heart.
Adam is not embarassed by any fans. Adam never sold his soul. Melody, Adam is talented, and successful, and you aren’t going to change that with all your negativity; it won’t hurt Adam but it will hurt you. Bad energy brings bad luck.
I would appreciate you not lumping all Adam’s over 30 female fans together. I would never try to grab his crotch, I enjoy the environment of gay bars and I wouldn’t complain about half naked guys being frisky. I do on the other hand have just as much right to see Adam perform live as you do and don’t feel certain anti straight and age biased comments are any less insane, that the first person that started this thread. Adam is an amazing performer, a joy to watch and full of love – let’s all respect each other and love him together!!
I think you should get a grip. Does it matter who stands where at Adam’s concerts? Young, middle aged or old, I think he would be happy to see anyone having a great time at his concert and paying for the tickets. I think you are ridiculous to think that only good looking, young people should get the best seats in the house. I say Go Glamberts Go.
Sorry darlin, but I’m a babe and quite sassy too, so deal w it, I don’t tolerate nonsense from dudes, and tho I like ya all, that is what it is. As for ‘protecting’ Adam -if you bash or mislead someone, it will be corrected, cause that’s what friends do, get some and you’ll know.
Poor you,you have no clue about how far off you are about me and many other glamberts, so stop trying to bash Adam’s fans to get them to stay away, because when you talk about fans hurting Adam, you are talking about yourself. It is what it is.
Rockon:
First and foremost, I just happen to be one of those straight, mid- aged ladies you refer to as “Glamberts’; however I am not lonely, and very far from “ugly” (last boyfriend was 15 years my junior); and have had men turn around and look at me who are far younger than I am. Your adjectives describing us are totally misplaced, disgusting, and show just how dumb, juvenile & immature, not to mention intolerant you are; you are not fit to be anybody’s fan – least of all Adam’s, as he would not like your tone one bit. Secondly, if I want to grab Adam’s crotch I will – if I have the opportunity to do so and am close enough to Adam; however I have enough respect for Adam as a man and as a performer not to do this, as I feel this is a conpelte & utter invasion of his privacy, but would definitely welcome any opportunity to do this in private, should I ever have the distinct pleasure of getting Adam to myself, if he ever were to experience a bi &/or a hetero moment. Just because I,and a good portion of other women in my age bracket are emotionally & sexually secure enough in our skin to ogle over a sensationally handsome, super talented and incredible “man” like Adam Lambert doesn’t make us stupid – we all know he is gay, but it doesn’t make a damn bit of difference to us – we love him for what and who he is; at least we are a bunch of vivacious, sexually active and lascivious and libidinous women who admire and drool over a ravishingly handsome man like Adam – we exhibit goodtaste. The only thing you are exhibiting is how narrow – minded, shortsighted, incredibly asinine, brainless, half – baked and half – witted you really are; you don’t know the first thing about being a true fan, and with your antiquated notions about divergent age groups, you are intolerant, prejudiced, hateful and extremely small – minded – I distinctly hope this does not apply to anatomical body partso f yours, but would not surprise me in the least; MOST DEFINITELY, YOU ARE NOT THE TYPE OF PERSON ADAM WANTS OR NEEDS AS A FAN – YOU ARE A DIVISIVE INDIVIDUAL!!! As you can see, my vocabulary goes beyond “goo – goo and gaa – gaa”; as many of my counterparts, I graduated with a 98 average in high school, was on the dean’s list in college, and am a former English Literature Major and A German language minor. Finally, do not voice your half – assed opinions and make them sound as if they are coming out of the lips of Adam – I doubt very highly that Adam would ever utter anything as alienating & insurrectionary as the commetns you have made; after all, Adam is a “true man “, and you seem to be very lacking in this department. FROM ALL OF US MID – AGED GIRLS I HAVE THIS TO SAY TO YOU – KISS MY MIDDLE – AGED A*****E – I TRULY HOPE YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO FILL IN THE BLANKS!!
What?? That bothered you that much??? If you just want to hear Adam then stay home and listen to the CD.
All I can say to these comments about older, straight women not being allowed to have fun and enjoy Adam’s stage performance, is I would give anything to be a fly on the wall when you are in your 50′s and someone tries to tell you what you should and shouldn’t do. You’re only as old as you feel, and sometimes you just have to grab life by the balls and say to hell with what others might think about how appropriate your behavior is. Life looks very different when walking in someone else’s shoes. Discrimination comes in many forms.
I think the problem isn’t grabbing life by the balls when you are over fifty – it’s grabbing Adam by the balls disrespectfully. Too many of his fans are out of control and they give everyone else a very bad reputation.
Thing is, it was only the young and never the older who ever tried to pull anything-and the crotch grab never happened in the first place. What Adam did say was some girl grabbed and kissed him and was pretty agressive, said she was gorgeous, also said the weirdest thing was someone ‘trying to climb aboard’- that would be a young dude or dudess to pull that one off.We are the ones w the energy, funny but not funny.I don’t care who fills the seats at his concerts because the more the merrier. Michael Jackson had fans all ages all around the globe. That is my watermark number for a fan base for Adam.
oh shut it – you are embarrassing to him, whether he tells you so or not. where is the common sense, where is an inkling of it in the way you all act . middle aged women throwing drawers and dildoes and other shit on stage during the idol tour, grabbing his crotch at the casino show. you look like fools, and open yourselves up to be relentlessly mocked by your embarrasing behavior. when was the last time any of you had a life, knew how to show your support without all the craziness and utterly mortifying things you do to turn off perspective fans. it doesn’t help any when you all descend on clubs and web sites like mama bears with your justifications and rationalizations for your behavior. he doesn’t want to see you, have sex with you, he doesn’t fantasize about any of you – he wants your money, and takes it and probably laughs his butt off at you. pathetic.
I agree! These women are an embarrassement to the artist. Music is about being young and cool and these old women about as un-cool as it gets. Your place in life is taking care of your homes and families. It’s not about being obsessive over a musician who’s old enough to be your son!
Adam may be embarrassed by some over the top fan behavior (I wouldn’t blame him in some cases), but you insult him by suggesting he takes the money while laughing his ass off at his fans. You might want to consider that you speaking for him might embarrass him as well.
I have wondered if Adam resents his obsessive older fans. I’m over 40 and I was too inhibited even when I was younger to make a fool out of myself over any celebrity. Sometimes I go to concerts by myself just to sit, listen, and observe. I like being in the crowd and seeing how people react to someone like Adam who came out of nowhere into “our” lives through American Idol. I do agree that some women need to act their age and not try to tackle Adam to take a picture, etc. But I’ve always been somewhat reserved. Who am I to tell other women how to have fun? I would actually like to see more young people in the crowds and around Adam. But think. There’s a lot of young girls who probably aren’t going to spend a lot of money traveling the concert circuit with Adam when THEY KNOW he’s not fantasizing about any of them either. They probably would rather be at a Timberlake or Jonas Brother concert where AT LEAST they can pretend that the man on the stage is singing “to” and “about” a woman. So, I don’t know if Adam or if Adam’s “young” fans can afford to offend too many of those old gals just out for kicks.
Don’t speak for me. My mother likes Adam as much as I do, and she is an original free spirit, & some of her friends amaze me.I haven’t see anything thrown on stage by anyone except the fans about my age and I have’t hit the big ‘three 0′yet. We don’t attend functions together very often, but if she wanted to attend w me and my crowd, she’d have them in stitches n add to the fun. Always did althoug I probably never mentioned it.
They haven’t been the ones tossing down that sh**, and ripping on them makes you lose credibility, pull it back in a bit. Major point, Adam dosen’t care who his fans are, just who his lovers are.
Hmmm? First of all thats mammabear to you sourgrapes and I live up to that name. Your poor mother, what in Gods name did she do for you to hate women? Is she not middle aged, is his mother not middle aged? Clearly you read what the hell you want too! Dude you clearly have some issues. Did I say I descend on your clubs, NOT! Did I say I fantasize about have sex with him, NOT! Man all I hear is jealousy and insecurity, now that is pathetic! Do you think that seeing young and/or old gay guys upfront would be less, as someone said, embarrassing? You are personalizing this when it is not just about you and “yours”. Sorry I stepped on your sensitive toes. Here some “justifications and rationalizations” for you. Why do you feel the need to categorically separate his fan base? Gays aganist straights? He just doesn’t belong in any catergory and he knows this, its about his mass appeal. Him being gay doesn’t transend to him performing for only gays its sooo not about that. Listen I could have made demeaning comments on Dan’s remarks about his distress of having no quailty time upfront to run bare chest doing drugs, alcohol and “getting it on”. This is ok “behavior”? You can justify this? But notice during my “justifications” I did not mention it. Seriously did you not read I would love to take my granddaughter to see him. DO NOT clump me with your demeaning description of how you think so called middle age women act! I’m sure he would not appreicate dumping his mother into your classification of middle aged women. And idiot of course he wants our (everyones, yours) money! But only “pathetic” people would believe its all about that. There the little thing like, oh I don’t know, artistry. He started at a very young age and has a love for performing and who wouldn’t want to get paid to do want you love? Your “justifications and rationalizations” are way too onesided, politically selfserving. Its just a bunch of propaganda crap!
sourcandy you are an idol tard who posts at the second most vile Adam hating site on the internet, TI, correct? Nuf said.
I would think that Adam would think you a real idiot for saying stupid things, my guess would be that he would prefer that people like you stay home and NOT listen to his CD.
Cannot wait until Monday when I will be going to see him at Heaven, met him at Capital radio a couple of weeks ago and he was so lovely and chatted, gave autographs and let us take photos – so exicted.
hai..,would you mind if i ask for some detail about Monday s program..??

Tickets were not for sale and were available to be won if you pre-ordered his album from the HMV site. It is an invitation only event run by HMV. Saying that I think some of the tickets were on sale on e-bay but there is no way I would sell as I love Adam too much and cannot wait to see him tomorrow.

dear julia…,i’m asking you about the program.plz let me know.
Someone should have removed the guy with the whistle from the club at the start of the song. What were they thinking?
‘Bells and Whistles” .Long standing tradition – in some areas -no more bells but yes for whistles – are compliments -’quiet’ is rude.
The audience at G-A-Y are given whistles, okay?
Looks like a great concert, can’t wait until Monday where I will see him at Heaven… for the first time… whohooo
The membership club used to have a certain kind of music perform there- likt Eurythmics, ABBA,pet Shop Boys, fun dance stuff; different music now- as long as it is good artist -Rihanna just played there, now Adam has his gig of 7 songs too. Talent is the deciding factor. And’ bells and whisels’ (now just whisels) are a compliment-it party not sit down dinner.
Both sexes -st, gay and bi- attended Adam’s gig.
To the idiot who is complaining about the whistle. It’s a COMPLIMENT to blow a whistle didn’t you know that??
No, we didn’t know that blowing a shrill whistle overpowering the performance was a compliment. It seems rude and derogatory not only to the performers, but to the rest of the audience. But pardon our ignorance of your customs.
people stateside seem to take music and their stars more seriously, i think i’ve noticed. it was just one of those times a show is so good you want to join in and not just be a voyeur. it’s a sort light hearted appreciation of fun music we have that also indulged the likes of bowie and mercury, funnily enough. he seemed really please after the set, so no worries. his music could be at home here, all being well!
Dan, it’s seriously not a US thing, most of us here are good times and can totally tell it was a compliment. Sorry for the ones who can’t. :P
that’s cool i was really trying hard for it to not sound like an insult in any way, def not meant as one :)
I think a whistle would save my voice at a concert. Instead of screaming with excitement. I saw Adam Lambert in NY live and you can’t help but scream with delight at some of the notes he hits. Then I couldn’t talk the next day.
He does have an amazing voice, doesn’t he. Well, I can respect the fact that its a compliment to blow whistles instead of clapping. I wouldn’t like it for the mere fact I wouldn’t be able to hear at all afterwords, what with both loud, although amazing music, then add in abit of whistle blowing instead of clapping. No problem with the custom of whistling rather than clapping. Just not for me, wouldn’t do at all to have permanent hearing loss. Hope your concert was amazing as it sounds. I hope to catch him live soon. I love being blown away at how great they sound in concert, its as if their recordings, although very good, don’t give their voices due justice. He seems to love playing with the arrangements and they always sound just more each time. Love the many licenses he takes on his interpretations of his songs. Here we are sharing the pure joy of the mans chops with no politically agenda. How divine, thank you.
lucky for all who saw Bowie and Mercury, all I have are videos and now luckily, Adam.
Er, I’m an American and have never been to G-A-Y and I still managed to figure out without much mental effort that it was a compliment and a club ~thing~ from the fact that MANY people were appreciatively blowing whistles in the audience throughout the video, not just the one person nearest the camera.
And if anyone couldn’t figure that out, okay, now that they do know, it would be awesome if could stop acting rude and entitled and instead try being grateful that anyone took the time to make videos, instead of complaining that people were partying and having a good time at a dance club!
Yeah, reading the comments, I thought someone was heckling, but when I actually watched the vid clips, the whistles were totally a compliment (if not a complement). Sheesh! I’m a hetero female fan of 42, but I’m not so old that I don’t recognize a good time. I hope Adam had a blast! Gah! When did Glamberts turn into a gaggle of bummed out old ladies!
Adam’s fans, all ages, both sexes, are mostly warm hearted open minded free spirits. Got some weirdos who are trying to limit Adam’s fans to the young gay males – which will harm him – but they are the exception to the rules. Not everyone has his best interests at heart, only their own wishes or fantasies.
Ditto !
AMEN! AMEN! DITTO AND THEN DITTO!!
If a whistle is customary, then its a fine way for the audience to show their enthusiasm and appreciation.(Better than yelling, I think.)Just as long as it doesn’t disturb the performers though. And I doubt it bothered Adam. He wants his audience to get involved, dance and have fun. I bet the energy in that room was ELECTRIC.
Disturb the performers? What about all that high-pitched screaming usually done at concerts? Unfortunately I doubt very much if most people really care about disturbing a performance as much as they do about their egotistical need to get the performer’s attention.
they were blowing them before he was there and long after he had finished.
Well said. Adam was clearly loved by the audience.
Wow! How does he hit those high notes? Incredible!
He’s just so magnetic and great all the way around. Amazing vocals live as usual…and nowadays especially, isn’t that all one can really ask for! What a yummy treat it is that he also seems to be such a nice guy – icing on an already delicious cake.
Some people can be very provincial and think their culture spans the world. It’s not true, and what can be disrespectful in one culture is high praise in another, so it’s not nice to call someone a jerk over a percieved slight with a whistle. If you are a true Adam fan please take a page from his book of tolerance.
I agree! Adam is incredibly tolerant of opinions and rarely judgmental. He also has a great sense of humor which is often an indication of intelligence. Too many of his “protective” fans don’t get it.
Please stop lumping fans together. I saw two people complain about teh whistles and all the rest got it. Now let’s rock on!!
I was there!! I was there!!! he was amazing!!!!
I’m a straight woman but fully agree with Dan. G.A.Y is a gay club and the owner (and therefore security) has every right to turn away straight women, or even gay women or gay men who don’t fit their preferred clientele. clubs all over the world have always turned away people based on their ‘image’, however that is interpreted. The number of clubs that gay people can go to and claim as there own and not feel judged is limited. For straight people to feel ‘entitled’ to go into them is odd. As for the whistles…*groan* don’t criticise what you don’t know. Its a GOOD THING here!
Btw Dan, he isnt only doing a gay venue. Tomorow night he’s doing a gig at the same venue, Heaven, for fans. The same people complaining about not getting into G.A.Y all have tickets for tomorrows show so they really have nothing to complain about.
ahhh i see! it’s tricky with gay venues. they become theme parks and tourist destinations for straight people who feel like being ‘outragious’ (sigh). we hate it. but they bring in extra dosh on one hand, but ruin a clubs reputation on the other. who wants to go someplace they cant pull in, whilst being told by some numpty that ‘gays aren’t so bad after all’? in the cold light of day i regret blitzing some straight bird who told me off for knocking her in a packed venue! it’s not the apollo dear! i hope i didnt ruin her evening as it was a good show. anyway i digress. have a good time tomorrow to all those who go. he did four songs i think. he did ‘for your entertainment’ and hit the big note perfectly, exactly like in the song (i started paying attention to see if he was lip-synking after that. he was indeed not!). it’s usually the part he struggles with a little. maybe he was more at ease! i know a few cabaret singers on the scene like adam who do what he did before idol. I relate to what he has done from that aspect, but none of them are to his standard. it’s really remarkable!
To quote Adam, “we should all be able to party together” young- old – straight – gay. Get along people! It ain’t that deep. Adam is for all of his fan’s entertainment! I believe that video above was taken by a Lambrit (not sure) glad you got in!
I think Rockon should read this.
no it’s not deep in the context of a pop show. i want to see what he gets up to in his show tomorrow though. i will have to settle for youtube sadly :(
hi Dan! So glad you posted! I agree with keeping the old straight women out, particularly if the complaints you are mentioning is what happens when they are in. I am glad that Adam got to perform for demographic that he is a part of. Thanks for explaining about the wistle. I sort of picked it up in context that the whistles were a good thing. Everyone seemed to be having a good time there. :)
hey jae. looking back it did have a mardi gras feel with the whistles, which i didnt expect. the venue is in the arches underneith a really old rail way station. crampt and stuffy but atmospheric! trains dont run late so that wasnt a problem with vibrations. i stayed out partying all night as hotels are expensive, but i blew £100 ($200) on drinks just in that venue and lost my phone there! that just tells me it was a good night! lol
it’s not a big deal though, it was more of an off the cuff remark about the older straight women going in and nicking all the good views mostly lol. it just turned into a running comment on this message board. either way gotta love the love! xx
i was there.the night is really unforgettable to me as thats the 1st time for me to GAY.wish i could attend today’s program.
I truly hope that as Adam’s career unfolds, the time will come when there is no discussion of who has the right to enjoy his performances no matter the venue. It would be his greatest accomplishment, to stop the divide among all people. As one of Adam’s older, hetro, female fans, it bothers me to be singled out as not knowing my place. It is odd that for the first time in my life, I feel discriminated against by gay men. That even sounds ridiculous as I say it. The thing that has endeared Adam to so many of us around the world is his willingness to accept every person as an individual. We all need to follow his lead and be fans of Adam Lambert. That is definition enough, that is what we share in common and that should bring us together not tear us apart.
You know, there is absolutely a broad streak of misogyny and ageism involved when people make snide comments about older women fans in general, and I wish it would stop.
But you ARE being ridiculous when you’re complaining about gay people wanting the crowd at their gay club to be gay, and right here on this thread the complaining was provoked a couple of rude and ignorant fans showing up to bitch at the live crowd for enjoying THEIR CLUB.
I really don’t think it has anything to do with misogyny though maybe ageism does play a small role. I have seen some of these women at a Lambert show and their behavior is uncouth. I think that is the problem. They are not acting with anything approaching the dignity(and I am not talking about just enjoying the music and having fun at a show) that maturity should give them. Then to read these comments that show them griping about not getting in and about whistle noise. It doesn’t paint a good picture. For everything there is a season and some of these older women fans are off the chain! I was really glad to see Adam perform at G A Y before a crowd with a mean age of maybe 25. It’s good for him.
You obviously know nothing about being gay and therefore need to educate yourself before whining about discrimination. For a solid year Glamberts especially older ones have been swarming over his every move. Even insinuating themselves into his personal life by showing up at his friends venues hoping to corner him and his MOM there. NOW the boy fianlly has the chance to perform in one of the LIMITED GAY VENUES available to a GAY audience and what happens? Glamberts whining and bit#%ing about “getting in” and AGAIN hogging the venue. The percentage of out gay people in the USA is stated at 10%. Therefore by sheer numbers, the older female Glamberts will overtake all venues. Have a bit of respect for ADAM’S PEEPS and stop thinking ONLY of YOURSELF. If you truly cared about HIM, you would intuitively KNOW that he MUCH PREFERS seeing the NORMAL GAY CLUB demographic when he plays this type of venue. Grow up.
Boy I agree with you ally! Adam needs a huge demographic of people supporting him, but I have found the Glamberts (typically older, middle-aged straight women) to be incredibly demanding, mean and nasty to his regular fans, constant complaining about venues, pushy and obsessive. Their obsession with him and crazy behaviors indicate symptoms of a mental illness. I’m not sure why they think a 28 year old gay entertainer wants them front and center demanding his attention any where he shows up. You’d think with Adam’s tolerance and desire to have all types of people at his concerts they would have the common sense to back off. But mental illness isn’t rational.
I’ve also heard the percentage of US homosexuals is 10% (although the religious right would like us to believe its more like 2%). I don’t think that’s true. There are a lot of gay people hiding and I’d like to believe the percentage is MUCH MUCH MUCH higher.
Yes rockon it’s much much higher. I know of 10 married men personally in my immediate circle sleeping with men or who left their female wives for men. It’s a joke. However, the rest of your post is nonsense. First of all, no “Glamberts” are mean and nasty. Much the contrary. They don’t even have that reputation so wtf are you typing? Their reputation is overly emotional on the peace and love side. But don’t get me wrong. Plenty of MEAN can be summoned from ME given the opportunity to reply to the nasty trolls all over the internet wishing violence and worse on Adam Lambert.
Secondly, what “venues” have “Glamberts” complained about. Oh, ZERO. So therefore you are most likely a Cook or Aiken fan, sock puppetting here for your own narrative. Because you clearly know NOTHING about Glamberts. OH and who are “his regular fans”. LMAO. Lame.
Speaking as an older straight woman, and I’d like to think, a rational fan, (not all of us are “Glamberts”) I WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE. There is so much second hand embarrassment brought on by some of these women, especially when they glom on to his family and friends…so transparent. At his first concert in Vancouver he made a point of saying how thrilled he was to finally have some fanboys up near the stage. I’d have thought that statement alone would have made some of these women think, and possibly back off and give the boys some room the next night, but no. While it’s good he has a monumentally devoted fan base, there is a point of too far. I’d be ecstatic to see more fanboys at his concerts, especially right up front. It’s appalling that they bitched at all about getting into G-A-Y. I sincerely hope the pushy Glamberts aren’t making men think twice about attending his shows, but I fear they are.
I know I know…I was at one of the Vancouver shows as well and felt it odd that, especially with our large gay community here, that there weren’t more younger gay fans. I was thinking maybe it had to do as well with the “no minors” prohibition and the Casinos probably gave out a lot of “comp” tickets to their VIP clients. For Adam to be as successful as he deserves to be he needs a larger young fan base, not just us irrational straight women pushing 40 : )
Yes, check out my posting higher up about my friend not wanting to get caught on YouTube at a concert surrounded by and being associated with out of control, middle-aged, straight women lusting after Adam. I think it’s sad as Adam definitely needs to be motivated by some young, gorgeous men his own age dancing in front of him at performances. Young, gorgeous women would make him happy too, just maybe not as happy. :) I don’t know if these obsessed Glamberts consider Adam at all and instead, think only of themselves.
I noticed that in Vancouver too. It was like it was assigned positions at the barricade at the stage both nights. Do they ever let other people up front? But I do think Adam is attracting younger fans. And I hope more glammed up boys.
Adam would say what the hell people – just get along and let’s all party together!!
hi lisa, i kinda regret mentioning it as it seems to be taking off on the message board as a bigger deal than it really is. we feel our ‘world’ gets encroached on. alot of these women filtered to the front, blokes stuck at the back. just a niggle but no big deal in the context of a pop show that we all enjoyed i’m sure.
I’m a middle-aged woman who enjoys Adam Lambert’s singing and will often look for his performance videos. However I’m not a “Glambert”, I’m not obsessed and I’d like to think I’ve lived long enough to know how to respect people, even young gay performers. If I ever go to one of his concerts, I wouldn’t be screaming like a possessed teenager, I wouldn’t beat my way through his younger fans to get a prime place in front of him and I wouldn’t wear glitter. I’d encourage my kids to do these things and I might invite a few young gay male friends to go with me and tell them to position themselves under the stage. hahaha I think there is a lot of backlash because these Glamberts believe they are somehow entitled and that makes others defensive creating the divide. People are stereotyping all his middle-aged straight women fans into this group, but it’s not ageism or misogyny, it’s a reaction to bad-fan behaviors. I think the crazy obsessed fans are the minority, but they say 1% create 99% of the problem so they seem a big group than they are. Notice Adam has a much bigger bodyguard these days?
Adam has the same body guard he’s had since the American Idol Tour.
I have been loving Adam until some of his nasty insane fans(Glamberts) attacked me on Twitter. I vowed to forget about Adam, but he won me over again during his visit to idol. I’m entering into a middle age group and a straight married woman and I’m going to see Adam at a concert this Summer for the first time. And I’m gonna sit right in front with my gay friend and cheer him on. And to those of you think we shouldn’t because we’re older straight woman, Tough Shit!
Good you didn’t let them discourage you as they have with so many, but please don’t start acting like them just because you can.
THANK GOD FOR SOMEONE WITH A SEMBLANCE OF A BRAIN – AND THANK YOU FOR BEING A VOICE OF REASON!
Oh my ra! I LOVE him svm! He is really so AMAZING, not many singers sound better live! So happy Adam got to sing to lots of pretty boys & men. I was a little annoyed seeing the women complaining on twitter about not being able to get in, but these videos are from some of those women, so I can’t complain too much! :)
Looks like it was a great night, I totally understand the door policy which is why I didn’t go, saying that I think I may have had a chance of being let in. I’m attending Mondays show as I have tickets for that, really can’t wait hope it’s a fun crowd.
Agree with dan. The whistle is for cheering instead of screaming like you guys do in the Sates.
dude this man is amazing!! i love him soo much…………… love love love you adam XxxxxX gr8 video btw :) London love’s you babyyyyyy!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Yeah, the whistles are for cheering instead of screaming like you guys do in the States.
By they way anyone who doesn’t have tickets for Monday, might be worth turning up as there will be spare tickets floating about.
OMG that looks like such a great time! And from the sound of it it looks like Adam made his mark at G-A-Y. Glad those who went had fun and I love the attitude..it’s just a big fun party full of love!!
Have to say, as 40+ straight woman living in Texas even I know that the whistles are all about fun and a compliment! They’ve been used around here since the late 70′s in dance clubs…straight or gay. I’ve never been turned away from going into a gay dance club, seems strange to me but I suppose this situation was probably a bit different. Straight women don’t usually bombard gay clubs and Adam WAS there to play for the GAY crowd.
Whatever, Adam clearly had a great time and I’m sure he was more than happy to play to a club full of half naked, young, hot, sweaty boys appreciating his music. GO ADAM!
I found the performance interesting in a way i never thought i would. he can call what he’s doing ‘futuristic pop/rock glam’ all he wants, but what he is actually doing is really good gay cabaret! when it’s in that environment it seems to fit so well and i think the direction he is going in is directly influenced by his time doing cabaret. what he wairs, what he does on stage, the music. it gives him a sort of artistic credibility when you look at it that way, a sort of sincerity in his convictions. it’s not unlike the scissor sisters in that respect. i dont think he’ll be the next george michael or michael hutchince with that material (more accurate comparisons than freddy or bowie), but this seems to be what he really wants to do.
Yes, really good gay cabaret, the point’s been made here in the queer faction of the US that his style is of that ilk. However, now google Crawl Thru Fire and Whole Lotta Love on youTube and see his other side. Especially the Fantasy Springs Concert wherein he and the band essentially ad libbed a totally different vibe of the song. Not gay cabaret but a fusion with rock and jazz. He is his OWN sincere artist and will ONLY do that which he believes in. Being intellegent he also realizes it’s a business and just breaking thru on radio is virtually impossible without some adjustments. Not to mention the ghey factor.
Please stop insulting older women. If it wasn’t for us giving birth to you and wiping your sorry asses when you were babies, you wouldn’t be here. And I’ve got a newsflash for you. One of these days, you are going to wake up and be in your 50′s – if you’re lucky enough – and you will have to hear the same insults from some little brat like you.
Thank you for the video * :=)It looked like all had fun, and the whistles sounded like appreciation for his great singing & very complimentary. I didn’t find it distracting one bit-it’s a live concert, is perfect response.
Adam is arguably the most open-minded individual in the entertainment industry. I believe him when he says he loves his fans (all of them)and that he appreciates their passion. He resists stereotyping even when one group or another struggles with entitlement issues. That being said, I am embarrassed by the behavior of some pushy old ladies who happen to be Glamberts. Please understand, they do not represent us all.
I’m a 60 year old straight woman and I absolutely love Adam. Not only his amazing voice and the way he performs on stage but his peronality and charisma as well as sex appeal, those gorgeous eyes and that smile. He’s the most exciting performer that has graced any stage in many years. He’s a role model, truly honest not only to himself but the rest of the world, we need more people like Adam in this still bigoted world of ours. He started the trail, not only for more gay people to have the courage to come out, but to educate people on acceptance and equal rights, it’s what inside that counts, this is why people of all ages and sexual preference love him, I knew the U.K. would love him.
You have certainly summed up Adam …..and the situation, completely! Adam is the whole package together with great intelligence and character… a thoroughlly beautiful person. How fantastic to realise that all us 50/60 year olds will be able to ‘grow old’ with Adam…..all the artists/musicians of our era will be long gone…ha! how privileged we all are.
Some of the people at these events post videos on youtube for everyone to see-they run websites to promote Adam-they buy multiple albums for themselves and promote his music and they” just may” be over 40,but they are having a hell of a good time and promoting Adam to everyone. Not all Gays are the Same Gay – Not all fans are the SAME FAN ! Adam is a really good time so Christine @ 11:17 why should the fun be reserved for your teenagers. Throw on some glitter-and scream your bloody guts out. GET CRAZY!
OK frecklenose! But if I scream I’ll do it in the back of the theatre so the young adults (my kids aren’t teenagers) can get up front so Adam has his peers in plain view instead of seeing women his mom’s age and older jiggling around in front of him sadly trying to get his attention. I don’t need that kind of fantasy validation. I have a real life. I won’t do glitter – it bothers my eyes and my skin. I will NOT be crazy like a Glambert. They need therapy. Adam deserves respect.
Hmmm, let’s see, crazy = Glambert? You can be an Adam fan, not crazy, but if you are called a Glambert you are crazy. And old. And ugly. And female. And hetero. Right? Can you be a male Glambert, or is that reserved for old ugly hetero ladies? Just checking.
Also, good to be gay fan in gay club, but not a Glambert in a gay club. What about a woman Adam fan, not crazy, not a Glambert, in a gay club? Is it OK to be a hetero male fan in a gay club? How about a gay fan in straight club? I’m very confused, but I want to know the rules. I don’t want to make anyone mad at me, or Adam puke. This fan business is very complicated. Can ugly old women Glamberts in gay clubs still buy his album if they stand in the back with a bag over their heads?
Okay, Kris, you made me really LOL! I need a copy of that rule book, too. I would be devastated as an Adam fan if I accidentally wore the wrong membership pin. As Adam says in DTRH, “Who are you?” What an excellent question!
So what that it’ a gay club? If you book an artist of Adam’s caliber you should know better. To discriminate straight midlle-age woman? What is going on?Tolerancy? Zero.Very nice, gay community.Shame on you.I wonder if Adam knew about this shameful policy. He, as so liberal and singing for all of us.If there is no much room in your club for half-naked , whistling, go , buy his CD.
I tried not to comment to the age dispute but as a 47 year old female fan of Adam’s I am offended that I should be lumped in with a few overzealous fans of my age or older who have been a assertive and flirtatious at his concerts! There are some of his older fans who simply enjoy his music and would not think of flirting with or invading the space of this lovely talented young man.I am one of those fans! I have yet to be able to see him live but I hope to at some point because he is a true jem! It has been a long time since we’ve seen the like of ths glittery glamrocker and there should be no age boundries as to who should be allowed to be a fan. I also take offense to the comment about straight middle-aged,lonely ugly women being foolish and flirting with Adam. The comment was uncalled for because you don’t know thier personal situations and as for the ugly comment? also uncalled for.Another note to think about. There are some fans who are just not aware of the customs of appreciation over in Britian so thier comments about the whistling was just a matter of not being in the know about this custom. Here in Canada I have heard people doing wolf whistles at concerts which have the same pitch as the whistles at the G.A.Y performance so it amounts to the same thing. For the record not all of us who call ourselves Glambert’s are over the top obsessive about Adam yes we have his back and we think he is fabulous, funny, beautiful and very talented and we get annoyed when someone makes awful comments about him but we aren’t confrontational and is saddens me that some people lump all of us into one and say we are all crazy because that is not true at all.The one thing we all do have in common is an apreciation for a man who is fast becoming a worldwide superstar and trailblazer in the music industry.
I agree with Pam. I am 62 years old, and while I will always love the music of Luther Vandross, Maxwell,Usher, and other R&B artists, I like other artists as well, even John Mayer, because I love his music, and not him so much after his comments. I love Adam, Ferras, and some other artists because they’re good entertainers. My 14 year old granddaughter loves Adam as well.
I don’t know why I should be ashamed because I like and support the music of Adam Lambert. I have supported Adam since he was on Idol, and I joined the glamberts early on. I would never do anything to embarrass Adam or myself, but I will not apologize for the deep connection to this young man and his music. Everything is not about sex!
worldwide superstar and trailblazer – honey, please. that ship has sailed, when he failed to capitalize on all that idol hype during his cd release, and during the christmas season. he should have sold 10x the cd’s and singles he has with all that pimping from rca and idol. but they have to keep trying to send him places like the uk and overseas to try to manufacture something of a semblance of success, so they don’t look like the abject failures they are. gay, straight, blue, black or purple, anyone who has been hyped as much as this guy should be at gaga’s level. he sabotaged his own career with that disastrous vocal performance at the ama’s, coupled with that ridiculous not ready for primetime orgy, so now rca is hellbent on trying to recoup some of the dough they’ve shelled out on this turkey. you all keep drinking that kool aid. when it all comes crashing down, the i told you so’s are going to be brutal.
What planet do you live on?
Have some of you never been to a night club before? Speaking as someone who has been to many all over the country it is common place that club members get preferential treatment and Heaven is a gay club, seriously stop moaning about it, there’s another gig Monday that everyone can attend.
Sorry, I’m just gonna say, I understand this was a Gay club, however, i love Adam and know he’s gay. but adam needs to be a rockstar and not dedicate to GAY environment. Bottom Line I am a straight women but I think all those same people who are making a project about older women and young women in his fanbase better think twice. On Idol Those Women casted hundreds of votes each night to get him where he is, they make sure he’s at top of the charts they buy CD’s . Basically Them put him where he is,I should hope Adam don’t mind them being at his concerts, on the other hand there should be young to. Don’t mind the Gays at shows but I really beleive that if the gays were voting on idol Adam would never have made the top 12. So with that said Gays can complain all they want but Adam knows who butters his bread. If he had to rely on Gay community’s support, Sorry London Adam would not be there performing this week. Enough Said. All the Gay community wants from Adam is to be a poster child, and Hello Adam responded He IS NOT GOING TO BE. So Like or not his women fans are not going nowhere cuz if they did Say GOODBYE to Adam’s career. Enjoy ur day!
You might want to reword your blurb. I smell a very strong odor of “entitlement”. I think Adam appreciates all of his fans but he shouldn’t be indebted to any of them. Sure, the females were the first onboard, but I truly hope that he builds a more diverse fanbase. I am the typical 40-yr old, straight female fan. However, I have no desire to be front and centre at his concert nor do I feel the need to meet him. I enjoy him for his music and talent, but I can do so from afar. I want him to look out at the crowd and see pretty young guys – not me. We should support Adam but not at the expense of alienating other fans. I would be happy to be the “silent majority” and let the younger fans be more visible.
Glamour: you are the quintessential Glambert. ENTITLEMENT with capital letters. Entitlement of any kind breeds hostility and division which is why Glamberts are such a negative force. I agree with others who have said Adam needs a very inclusive fanbase, but you don’t get special priviledges because you voted for him on Idol. If only Glamberts were allowed to buy his CD, he’d have sold no more than 10,000 and that’s with the extra copies they bought. Glamberts did not put him where he is – Adam put himself where he is. He’s the one who made all his decisions, not you nor your crazy, entitled cohorts. I know he thinks Idol is responsible for his success. I disagree. Idol sped up the process, but still, Adam is where he is because of his talent and who he is. He would have made it without Idol. I can say with an enormous amount of confidence that Adam LOVES performing at gay clubs for young, gay men. I’m guessing it’s his venue preference. It has nothing to do with being a poster child for the gay community. Anonymous is right – there are ways to support Adam without monopolizing him and feeling entitled.
and pissing off every other fanbase in the process with their arrogance and obsessive posts. they have burned so many bridges with other fanbases, and with casual fans it’s not even funny anymore. they stand alone, all by themselves out there now, as many want nothing to do with adam because of their rude, aggressive, delusional and nasty behavior, and putdowns of everyone and everything not named adam lambert. i’d feel sorry for him, a little, if he didn’t encourage a lot of this crazy in the beginning. but there is an immaturity and a lack of ability to see reason and common sense with this group – they both deserve each other.
Oh my!! Can we tone this stuff down. No one owns Adam, not the women, the gay guys or those that voted for him on Idol. Adam Lambert is an entertainer and we are all fortunate to be in a time and place where he is the rising star. Sit back and enjoy the ride. There is romm for everyone!!
You “don’t mind the gays”? How very big of you! Your comment not only reeks of entitlement, but also illiteracy.
Those “old” women are heavily involved in Adam’s fandom (not all are “Glamberts”…there are several different groups) and were there to have fun and get videos of this performance to give the rest of the world a chance to see how awesome he is. The women (a handful) were not new to the G-A-Y nightclub scene and were with friends who were allowed to enter. Ignorance is the main thing that drives criticism of Adam and his adoring fans. Check out some of the fan websites. You can read some of them without joining. They contain a wealth of information on not only about Adam but there are many very intelligent discussions that deal with gays and their struggles in today’s society. The forums are open to all Adam lovers of every age and persuasion. Don’t bother going there if you just want to complain…we only want to hear from those who want to truly enjoy Adam’s awesome talent and support him with CD purchases, concert attendance and any other means possible to give him the success he deserves. I really appreciate the videos posted by Adam’s these dedicated older fans as this is the only access I have to this exciting, energetic and electrifying; fast, fine and ferocious; daring, devilish & dashing; crazy, cute and courageous; trim, taut and terrific; long, lean and luscious; spicy, saucy and seductive; stunning, sexy & soulful; intelligent, inspirational and inviting; bold, beautiful and brilliant; sensational, smashing and superb; hot, hotter, hottest; admirable, addictive, awe-inspiring; mesmerizing, magical, mystical; enchanting, electric, evolutionary; revolutionary, radiant and ravishing; rebellious, revered, respected; dreamy, delightful and delicious; charismatic, cool and collected; glamorous, gallant, groovy; debonair, delectable and dynamic; drop-dead-gorgeous, dramatic and dear; crazy, compassionate and caring! Dynamite, captivating, creative, courageous; campy, creative, caring; kinetically a killer, kissable, kryptonite, killer, knock-out; indescribable, inventive, impressive; hot, handsome, sensational, glamorous, peerless, flawless, talented beyond words, unmatchable, indescribable, yummy, fabulous, out-of-this-world, angelic, heavenly, honorable, gentlemanly, sweet, thoughtful, humble, daring, brilliant, brave, humorous, perfect, drool-able, mind-boggling, earth-shattering, jaw-dropping, phenomenal, breathtaking, upbeat, positive, energetic, charismatic, beautiful, sexy man. (This is part of a list of Adam’s qualities compiled by his fans!)
I’ve been on many of the fan sites where I’ve lurked and watched the Glamberts harass those naive to think discussion is welcome. I’ve seen them drive away lots of people from Adam and treat people rudely as if they are the only people entitled to be his fans. They post threads on how they want to kiss Adam, how they fantasize “converting” him, how they can’t get their housework done because they are so obsessed and if you post an opinion they don’t like they will start screaming names at you and run you off. I advise all his sane fans to not go to these sites or they will discourage you. You’ll wonder why such a nice and talented guy could attract these kinds of people. They give all his fans a very bad reputation.
oh i agree about the obsessive “fans” who have gone so far as to try and insert themselves into his private life by going as far as to claim to be fans of his friends and attend their events as well-creepy-and he’s said as much. he owes us nothing more than a great show/performance, he does not need to party with the fans afterwards-that’s his bands choice but he needs a private life. That said, i won’t let these “fans” prevent me from enjoying his music or going to see his concert when he comes my way, to do so gives these “fans” way too much power. Saying they’re 1% of his fan base is too generous, it would be less, they’re just more vocal on the fansites which Adam is smart to ignore. He’s an infant in the biz right now, but people are expecting alot. Gaga had time to build a fan base so should he. Rock on Adam and just don’t give up!
This is essentially bull, and you are clearly just trolling for trolling’s sake. Typical American Idol loser. Cook fan perhaps?
this is exactly the type of batshit crazy we’re talking about – what sane fan compiles and posts such drivel. and i bet it’s from of these middle aged women, not a teen, who could be given a pass. this is just absolutely insane, and makes you all look like complete nutters.
yeah i’m not sure what the problem is with older ladies loving him. i think it’s great he can be relevant to different types. there’s no need to make indirect insults about them though. i think people must have been upset to be held back at the door. i didnt see it but read thats what happened on here somewhere. i noticed they suddenly appeared. i’ve heard it’s a notoriously difficult (at times) to get in for any non members. daniel o’donnel from ireland and cliff richard have a core fanbase of older ladies and they have seen them through for decades! we know he’s for everyone if they want him!
I liked many comments and want to say that crazy behaviour happens in all ages. For me a fan is the one who gets it. I’m real fan.I recorded every Adam’s performance on AI, the first day I ran to Target and bought CD, I listen to it by myself.Somehow do not like to listen with company. And do not need a crowd around me when I listened to Adam. And it’s only for me to know how I feel when I hear Adam’s singing.Happy!Oh. yeh!I wouldn’t go to your club to see Adam. All those jumping and whistling would make me sick. But, still, any kind of discrimination makes me mad.All those young sweating boys are fine with me.Only I doubt if they get it.The point made.
Christine @ 1:10. The people who SHOULD sit in the front at any concert are the people who paid for those seats. Soooooo if the Rolling Stones show up ( certainly the over 60 crowd ) they should be ushered out because they sure ain’t pretty or young(They ROCK)by the way. Most of the musical influences for Adam are from his Dad’s musical collection. I went to a concert and the audience was very diverse. They were having so much fun dressing up and dancing. There are obnoxious people at all concerts younger and older-groupies etc. Is there one out there that if you had a chance to meet Adam Lambert wouldn’t want to???????Having
said that,he said he was looking forward to meeting some NEW faces on tour/so maybe if you’ve met him-give others that same chance OK. p.s. sorry about that glitter allergy. People making rude comments regarding ANY group of fans DO NOT represent Adam’s views!
I couldnt agree more with your last sentence, although i just think it’s great he has such excited fans. young at heart!
Oooh, the Rolling Stones! I love them. So let’s talk about how are they different from Adam Lambert? First, most of the people at their concerts (now) will be their age or younger, peers or younger. I wonder what Mick Jagger would have thought at 20-28 years old to look out into the audience and see mostly middle-aged women? At least they’d be straight. Adam can’t even look at the bright side and say “At least they are straight.” It’s gotta be traumatic and make him wonder what the hell went wrong.
Second, Stones concerts these days usually have paid seating right up to the stage, as far as I’ve seen. Some of Adam’s haven’t – they have the pit where people rush to get in front. (I think some Glamberts have complained about these kinds of facilities. They complain a lot about everything forgetting they are older and Adam is younger.)
Third, if I had a chance to meet Adam, I wouldn’t, BUT that’s part of the weirdness. All these older, middle-aged straight women fantasizing obsessively about a gay man and thinking if they go to a concert they will MEET him? Then what? Is that why they beat their way to the front and try to get his attention? Is that why some of them follow him from performance to performance? Is that rational thinking? Can’t they get validation in other more logical ways? Do they need some fulfilling hobbies? Or a real, warm-blooded relationship? A couple cats, maybe?
Lastly, Adam wanting to meet new faces, honey, he’s desperately hoping those faces belong to pretty, gay boys, not more middle-aged straight women. As a middle-aged straight woman not obsessed, I know my place. That doesn’t mean I won’t have fun at a concert, I just won’t try to monopolize his attention acting stupid.
I’m not saying Adam’s fans shouldn’t be diverse, I just think they should be respectful to Adam and to his “normal” fans. There is a group of them that aren’t and those people are giving everyone else a bad name and chasing away the young fans Adam very much needs.
Oh, I forgot – I used to scream at Rolling Stones concerts when I was young. Right up front under Mick’s nose. :) With glitter and platforms. :)
Christine, you are right. In fact, the Rolling Stones keep the first ten rows cheap and try their best to get the tickets to younger fans and out of the hands of scalpers who sell them to older people who are blowing their retirement following them around.
These women who follow Adam around and post such idiocy all over the internet will be the death of his career. He needs to go back to theatre anyway. He’s no rock god like these weirdos think he is. If he wasn’t so old himself, he should be on GLEE.
Stars have always and will always have “obsessive” fans. I am sad when I read comments like all the ones I have read on here because Adam doesn’t feel like most of you and all of us could take a lesson or two from him. I know fans from the age of 6 to 60 and that is what makes him so special. I am not a “Glambert” but Adam makes me feel young like I was when Elvis Presley appeared on the scene. He truly made me “love Music Again”..his songs make me wish I could still dance..still have fun. What’s wrong with that???
let me get this straight… it took a contestant singing karaoke on the cheesiest show in the universe to make you feel alive again. a manufactured down to his toenails broadway singer reached and reenergized you in a way that , oh, having a life didn’t. that’s kinda sad actually, but hey, it’s your story.
love my adma lambert and he has a great voice veyr unique come home soon my americna idol.
(Kris writes)
“Hmmm, let’s see, crazy = Glambert?
Can ugly old women Glamberts in gay clubs still buy his album if they stand in the back with a bag over their heads?”
Woooot!
Your post made me giggle, especially the last sentence! I think the point is everyone can like Adam just don’t expect to get into his gig if it’s members only night! :)
lol. this gay club had a lot of people going, just to go clubbing, not really to see Adam especially from some guys i spoke to, but just to enjoy the venue. all Adam’s fans can go in of course, but sometimes door staff are selective about the people who go in, for one reason or another. i think they’re conscientious about keeping their members happy i guess. but it seems he is having a general concert on monday or something in the same place for ticket holders only from a hmv sale.
Haha, you R 2 funny!
Yes! You are getting it! The term “Glambert” has evolved to mean something very specific based on the consistent behaviors of a very select group of people.
Glambert: (noun) A middle-aged or older, straight woman exhibiting obsessive-psychotic behaviors regarding Adam Lambert with demonstrations of disrespect, intolerance and hostility toward anyone they perceive as a threat to their exaggerated state of entitlement.
I previously used the word “ugly”. This isn’t necessarily a physical description but one of behavior. The rude, nasty, intolerant would describe an “ugly person”.
All others not fitting this definition are considered “fans of Adam Lambert.” No such thing as a male Glambert, gay or straight.
Clear?
Go check the Glambert Fan List and tell Steven Fudd and Derek Sheldon and all the rest to give up their numbers then…and the term was first coined by TEENAGERS. Soooooo….you’re off the mark there buddy.
It is those middle aged women who had Adam’s back after the AMA’S. Where was the Gay community. From AI through today they have been the most critical of Adam and have posted the most gross comments on their sites. I am so sick of everyone putting down Adam Lambert fans. They come in all shapes and sizes, all ages, and from all over the world. Adam believes in diversity not stereotyping, but it seems a lot of men in the gay community just are so ignorant, just like the narrow-minded, closed minded people in the U.S. Who are you to say what Adam wants. Of course, he would like to see more young men in the audience so where have you been. No one is stopping you from buying his music and going to his concerts. Get near the stage and have fun like all his fans have and will continue to have. Stop being so self righteous and putting other people down!!!
hi Anonymous, see the above post by me and also Peroxide Pixie. i think you’re confusing door policies of a club to the gay community’s opinion of adam in one way or another. just want to explain that’s taking things out of context. :)
Dan,
I don’t think I am out of context. Some of the comments telling people that women of certain ages that they are ugly, fat and should stand in the back and how Adam does not really want them as fans is beyond contempt. These comments were not made because of a confusing door policy. If that were the case people would just state that it wasn’t right to allow people who were not a part of the gay community to be able to get the better position near the stage or felt this should have been a strictly gay concert. These comments were about prejudice and that is political.
I want to clarify that I did not mean all people in the U.S. are closed minded and prejudiced, but there are a lot of them out there.
Yes, thank you. I’m gettin tired of everyone hatin on the U.S. & making ridiculous comments. Adam wouldn’t have made it into the Idol finale if we hadn’t voted for him, meaning we LOVE him!!!!!
close minded and prejudice has nothing to do with it – it’s just the ick factor seeing women old enough to be this guys mom acting like idiots at his concerts, and following him around from place to place. what is lacking in the lives of these kind of women that they leave all sense of class, dignity, restraint and self respect at the door with him, and other male idol contestants. david cook has the same problem that rca tried to fix w/the college tour last year. the fans from idol are not the kind of fans they want either of these two to be seen having if they are to have long term success. both are relatively young guys. the expectation when seeing concert or club concert footage is to see age appropriate fans. i would not want to be caught dead at a lambert concert in the us, with all these loony older women running around in too tight clothes, glitter and all that bs. not cool, not cool at all.
Again with the generalizing . . .
And re “what is lacking in the lives of these kind of women that they leave all sense of class, dignity, restraint and self respect at the door with him, and other male idol contestants”.
Try inserting “teens” instead of “women”. (Did you even see any of his Canadian MOD interviews?) And try applying the statement with either term regarding any artist who is/was crazily popular, ie, Bieber, Beatles, Elvis, etc. In fact, a recent Bieber appearance had to be basically cancelled because they were afraid someone would get hurt because of all the craziness from the little girls. He also had to sing from INSIDE a studio, instead.
Yeah, I think any artist wants only certain kinds of fans all the non-way to the bank.
Just to give casual readers a hint to how popular and well-respected Lambo is in the Industry – dude has friends and fans in: Zeppelin, Brian May/Roger/Queen, Slash, Steven Spielberg, Paul McCartney’s Brian Ray + band, Stephen Fry, Steven Tyler, Tim Burton, Demi Moore, Joe McHale, Rob Marshall, Muse, Gaga, Madonna, Rivers Cuomo, Selena Williams, Lisa and Priscilla Presley, Pink, Justin Hawkins, Tegan & Sara, Linda Perry, Sam Sparro, Smokey Robinson, Gary Jules, Boy George, Ann Kendricks, Carmit Bachar, Meatloaf, Ben Barnes, Ellen Degeneres, Rob Halford, Amy Adams, Dita Von Teese, Robbie Williams, Evan Rachel Wood, Marilyn Manson, Christina Applegate, Rob Cavallo, Greg Wells, Dr. Luke, Max Martin, ……..the list goes on forever man.
Curt Smith called him an “uninentional pioneer” and May said “there are few people built, driven, talented, creative, authentic enough and destined to become what we call Iconic. To become even a modern-day icon like pehaps Lady Gaga, is difficult and takes a lot. But Adam Lambert is one of them. The kid is already on his way there.
“Margaret Cho: “Adam Lambert has such a rock n roll free-spirit, I love that. You’ve got to respect anyone who dares to dare, and marches to the beat of their own drum. He’s bringing personality and male sexuality back to the charts. He’s electric.”
Rob Halford: “Firstly, thank God for Adam Lambert. We need someone like him in the community. His voice can do many things.”

(Kris writes) 2:21 p.m. Now this is the good laugh everybody needed-right people. I wish Adam could read your post. Could you please post it on all the blogs. Wait until people get really ugly and then hit them with THIS-still smiling at your insanity…..
Boy, where to start with all these crazy posts and arguments! First off, regarding
“Please stop insulting older women. If it wasn’t for us giving birth to you and wiping your sorry asses when you were babies, you wouldn’t be here. And I’ve got a newsflash for you. One of these days, you are going to wake up and be in your 50’s – if you’re lucky enough – and you will have to hear the same insults from some little brat like you.”
Jen, I have to say, get it gurl! Your comment made me laugh out loud. I wonder how those people who made derogatory comments about older women would feel if someone said that about their mum. I also think it’s kinda funny and I think it’s kinda sad that it’s OK to make discriminating remarks against older straight women, but it’s not OK to make discriminating remarks against gays. For those of you doing so, you’re not helping yourselves at all. However, I do understand if it was a private club, that you have to be a member of, that only members would be allowed in. It’s either member-only or not, in which case anyone should be welcomed. I think it’s only because Adam is in the beginning of his recording career that all of this discussion/argument is occurring. Did you ever see anyone fighting over who could or could not be a fan of Elton John before he was married, or who could sit in the front row? Oh wait, that’s right, many of you weren’t even born then!! L.O.L. Maybe that’s why some of Adam’s fan are older, because we know what good music is, and we actually experienced it in the 70′s, especially, and 80′s, two periods that Adam embraces. And if someone forks out the money for a ticket, they have every right to sit in whatever seat they bought. (Some of these silly arguments here remind me of “Dibs on the front seat!” (in the car) and “Mom, he touched me!”, “Mom, he looked at me!”) True, Idol didn’t give Adam his talent and expertise, but it gave him the perfect platform on which to amaze us. And it gave us the ability to vote him into our, nee, the world’s, consciousness. Let’s just all be thankful for the amazing performer that is one Adam Lambert, and let’s just all get along, shall we??!!
REALLY? Adam’s straight, female, over forty fans should be relegated to the back, kept away from him. Or, they should be banned from gay clubs? REALLY? Who the hell do you think played a major part in putting him where he is today? Do you really think you would even know who Adam is if it were not for the over forty, straight females who voted for him weekly on American Idol? Sad to say that nowadays pure talent does not necessarily make you successful. The over forty crowd recognizes genius from having had to endure talent-free acts for many years.
And, FYI – EVERY SINGLE GAY GUY that I know had the hots for & thought Kris should have won. Go blow you damn whistles at him!
Word.
Also, I worked with a gay guy who also liked Kris. I thought, really? I didn’t understand it. But he was not a fancy person or dresser – kinda dressed more like Kris. Go figure. Guess there’s a lot that we, or I, don’t know/understand.
Hmmmmm . . . I just remembered – Adam liked Kris, too.
I just had a revelation. It was the GAY GUYS who gave Kris the win, NOT ARKANSAS!!!! lol
Hey for all the so called fans that make in front of the 40 something fans and how fat they are, well just wait ladies when you hit your 40′s and have kids, your beautiful little rock hard bodies won’t ever look the same either, believe me. I honestly don’t see why young fans, older fans, gay fans, yellow fans or whatever the heck color you or care about why all his fans have to be of a younger generation? Don’t you realize Adam is bringing back the rock of old days?
lady, adam is not rock, never has been never will be. he is a electro pop/pseudo glam wanna be, trying his best to ride the wave of the gaga’s to the top, but it’s not going to happen, not in the us. it’s statements like this that show the delusion in his fanbase, when they can’t even correctly identify his music. the brits have seen his kind of act 100 times, and he’s really not bringing anything new or groundbreaking to the game. carry on in the delusions of him being at the vanguard for a rock revival – just reinforces the image of his fans as being out of touch with pop culture and its music, and just bsc.
Another clueless pseudo-know-it-all actual troll. Gaga’s wave? Well, if you simply googled Adam Lambert from years ago you see that he long pre-dates Gaga in his style and love of electro-pop AND rock. Your argument is totally invalid. The proof is on youTube with dated videos and audio. And obviously you’re invested since you’re HERE pontificating trying to influence the dialogue. FAIL, Nena.
Kris, great post and speaks to all the stupid mean-spirited posts. If management wanted only gay young men at the concert, then that would be what was only allowed in. They must have wanted diversity, and that is how it should be no matter whether it is a Gay bar or Straight bar (I don’t think there is such a thing as a Straight bar). That would be discrimination. On one hand you talk about the atmosphere being like a mardi-gras and on the other hand you are putting down Adam’s women fans for showing their love and appreciation for Adam’s performances. I think instead of putting down people for what gender and age they are, you should be supporting Adam by buying his music and going to his concerts and being the ones near the stage and showing your love and appreciation for his amazing talent. Why do people have to be so hateful in their remarks and put down people because of their age, sexual orientation, what they look like, etc. This is not what Adam is all about. He celebrates diversity and individuality. I envy anyone that was able to attend last night to see and hear the most exciting performer of all times. I also got the whistle thing and thought how clever. Saves losing your voice screaming your love for his performances. Adam performs with such passion and in return the people who get it love him back with great passion. I guess those of you who do not really get Adam cannot appreciate that!!!
this is a p r i v a t e club – one that has every right to decide who gets in, who stays out. if they don’t want you in, you aren’t getting in. it amazes me the level of cluelessness and lack of understanding many lambert fans express toward protocol and real understanding of gay culture. what really drives it, what and how it views the invasion of so many crazy and ott straight women who seem to want to make lambert more a masturbatory aid and a diversion to their dull lives more than they care about his career, his image, his music.
When I was twenty I once stood right up to the stage with a female performer. Although I liked her music a lot, I felt out of place. It felt like the first few rows are the ones to flirt with, and since I did not mean to flirt I inched a few rows back.
Being 42, female and straight, I’m puzzled about me liking Adam Lambert as much as I do. And although I like his music, would love to see him perform, and not from the back of the venue in the shades with a sac covering my head. I think I would prefer it to be a few rows from the stage. More room to dance too ;-D
I just wondered how many gay men do you need to neutralize the effect of straight women to a gay-atmospher? (my guess is about 50 men to 1 woman).
FOOD FIGHT! or PILLOW FIGHT! not a fight over who should inhabit the front rows. Thanks for being such a good sport Christine(and you may continue to madly crush on Adam “secretly”) hugs….
Whatever happened to just enjoying the music and the performance? I’m not advocating drugs at all, but if we were back in the ’70s at a concert with everyone takin a toke or simply breathing in the concert air and flickin their Bics, we wouldn’t have this problem! No one would frikken care, I guarantee it! I didn’t realize music had gotten so discriminatory and I’m getting a little confused. So if a performer is straight, then does that mean only age-appropriate straights can be in the front areas, and the old ugly gays have to sit in the back or stand with a bag over their head when they buy the artist’s CD in WalMart? How does one specifically prove that they’re gay or straight for concert entry? What if a straight guy is wearing, horrors, eyeliner, black nail polish and/or a lot of jewelry? What if a gay guy is wearing a decidedly unfashionable boring outfit? Do we have to get tested or something? Do we need to carry cards now? Please clarify, blogtards.
I love the European and Asian press tours he’s done because he has more age approrpriate fans there. It’s beyond unconfortable to watch women who look over twice his age acting like teenagers, leering at him, and trying to get ahold of his junk. People need to act their age because it’s embarrassing and I don’t think their bizarre behavior does Adam any good.
Lisa I totally agree! I’ve been waiting for someone to make this exact point. It IS embarassing and just gives Adam’s critics more fuel.
I’m going to Heaven to see Adam tonight, but even if i hadnt got a ticket i wouldnt have tried to go to G-A-Y cos that was a night for the gay fans to enjoy him and for Adam to enjoy them!
Its great that we are all fans and support him, but whatever your age and gender theres a way to act appropriately. Ridiculopus OTT screaming, grabbing and chasing is too much even for teens but they have the excuse that they dont know better yet. For everybody else its just plain wrong. A lot of the clips we see of Adam in the US seem to be full of this kind of behaviour.
After reading through all of these hilarious and downright nasty comments, I just have one more thing to add. Adam stated during his recent concert at River Rocks, Canada that no matter how old you are, who you sleep with, what color skin, we can all party together. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhNmRBq7vWY&feature=related (makes above statement at beginning of “If I Had You”.
Adam and I share the same philosophy. Peace :)
young, hot, pretty gayboys do not want to party with middle aged women – what part of this do you dunderheads not understand. it is just stupid to think a bunch of menopausal, bored, horny housewives and overweight women in tragic clothes would make him look cool, or give him the kind of image his label would rather he have. he looks like a modern day liberace, a gay man with hordes of delusional horny old women making fools of themselves over him – here in the uk and the usa.
I keep hoping he’ll catch on with younger fans in the UK. The US may be a lost cause, I’m not sure. Your comment depresses me because I can’t really argue with it. The only thing I can do is try to convince myself that although these women are the loudest and most visble part of his fanbase, they don’t comprise all of it. Unless they manage to run everyone else off, which is a possibility.
Lisa, trust me, here in the US, these OTT middle aged women are well on their way to ruining Glambert, along with his actions/words. He’ll be back to the theater/gay clubs before long. The fans of his scare the hell out of “normal” people, gay or straight.
I hope you’re wrong but I fear you may be right. They’re doing a good job of running me off. I’ve seen these women in action and it’s scary – women chasing after this guy who is less than half their age. Once you’ve seen a group of middle aged women sexually assault a cardboard cut-out of Adam Lambert you start to ask yourself what you’re involved in. Know what I mean?
hahahah. really? oh god, its worse than i thought.
Adam is not stupid! HE WANTS YOUR MONEY! And, he knows the old ladies have it and that you’re stupid enough to give it!
Afterthought: I wish I would have known about the “old, ugly, middle-aged fat women to the rear during Adam’s concerts with bags over they heads” doctrine and how these horrid women are going to ruin his career those 25 years ago when I attended 2 Bette Midler concerts. Those old, fat, gay men in the front yelling at Bette during her concerts should have been in the back rows keeping quiet while I, at age 20, should have been standing in front of the stage with my equally pretty friends. Our smooth taut faces and perky breasts heaving with excitement as Bette belts out “Bugle Boys”. How dare they, those insensitive gay men out to ruin Bette’s career !!! Oh my goodness, there may be a pic somewhere of me, yes young perky me, among those old, ugly, screaming gay men. How embarrassing !!! Hummm…maybe I should go break my collection of Bette Midler albums, cassette tapes, and cd’s. Wouldn’t want to be associated with her and her horrid old male fans who were going to make her career fail. The horror…the horror….
Touche’, touche’, and touche’, Debbie 22.
Is it so hard to believe that I have and will attend Adam’s concerts with my husband, because we love him as an entertainer; will not be throwing my underwear on stage and will not be trying to grope him? And is it so hard to believe that I am a female fan, professional woman, size 4, 120 pounds, hetro and have three people in my immediate family who are out and gay? Wow. Adam is so tolerant, one reason we love him. First and foremost however, we are fans of his talent. There’s a lot of hate being thrown around here. So sad. And so narrow minded, on both sides.
too late anonymous – the batshit crazy wing of your fanbase has forever branded you all. their behavior has been so over the top and sustained that everyone from the media to the radio stations have that image burned in their brains. it is unfortunate, because i don’t dislike adam. but i loathe and detest the glamberts who have overtaken the claymates in the lunatic fanbase category. it’s one thing to show support for your favorite, and to be devoted to them, glamberts have given a bad name to the meaning of ‘fan’. the constant put down of other idols to make adam look good, the just plain nasty and low class way they try to get next to him, feeling him up, tossing dildos onstage – this is jerry springer trailer trash disgusting. what sane person wants to be associated or seen with older women and grandma types doing this stuff.
Let’s be honest. The nastiness and rudeness is a characteristic of every Idol fan base. I’ve seen plenty of rude comments about Adam from fans of other Idols. Personal stuff too, about his sexual orientation, appearance and weight. Even the problem of these older women isn’t exclusive to Adam. David Cook has his cougar problems. The fact is that a lot of older women watch American Idol. I agree that some of them behave in a ridiculous way and will probably end up hurting Adam, especially in the US market. I don’t think there are enough of them overseas to do the kind of damage they’re doing around here.
Probably because they didn’t actually do the real work of spending all the time supporting, vesting in, and voting for Adam. They get to just enjoy the fruits of other people’s labor . . . of love, I might add, and without calloused fingers, too. To them, Adam is someone who just showed up on their doorstep. Maybe those in the U.S. should have just not voted at all, and then the rest of the world might not have known about Adam Lambert, and certainly not as soon. And by the way, I have read a few negative UK articles/comments about Adam, so, everyone, stop blaming the U.S., and the women in particular, for everything. Again with the generalizing . . . so tiresome. Yawn.
More lies. Constant put downs of other idols? Nonsense. You’re just another American Idol tard who can’t stand that the guy has risen to the top of the heap. No “Glamberts” say anything about other idols like kelly, fantasia, ruben, allison and the rest of season 8. Only Kris and Gokeyisadouche. And Aiken. All justified. You idoltards are total hyperbole.
Bigotry is bigotry, hatred is hatred. If you judge a group of people based upon shared characteristics, you’re a vile bigot. These characteristics are not limited to sexual orientation, race or national origin but include gender and age.
Among Adam’s fans, one characteristic is constant. A total intolerance of hatred.
Your heart isn’t quite right. Make it so.
Is this a joke? The Glamberts are intolerant of hatred? Really? Have you heard the things the Glamberts have said about Adam’s ex-boyfriend? Have you heard what they say about Ke$ha ever since it came out that he made out with her? They have a total intolerance for anyone who might get close to Adam who isn’t one of them. Adam should invest in a lot of security.
Jen, thank you for demonstrating my point so perfectly. I have no interest in any celebrities personal life, I ignore the hype completely. I do not feel a need to get “close” to Adam or to get an autograph. I’m thrilled to see him accepted by all groups. He entertains me…..I admire him and love his talent. I do not, however, love him as I don’t know him.
I’m a 51 yr. old female “Glambert” and you don’t know me. You’ve judged me based upon my gender and age. Would you happen to be a friend of Mark Verman?
Who is Mark Verman? Oh snap, I get it now – memory loss is one fact of life as one gets older, and enters men-o-pause. Surely you meant Mark Furman? Increasing the dosage of gingko biloba should help you out there.
What? He has almost 500K twitter followers. So a handful didn’t “like” his ex? And Kesha? And you care….why? You’re ignorance is silly. Most Glamberts are pushing for the most is for Adam to find love whenever that happens.
I get it! We old ugly straight women are not welcome as ADAM’s fans because we don’t fit in the proper demographic. Does that mean that I should stop Voting for ADAM in all the online polls because of this ‘affliction’ (old. ugly. straight) … should I throw away all the FYE albums that I have purchased for myself, family & friends, too? Also am I banned from watching his performances on TV & Ytube & fansites? Am I also not allowed to encourage my grandchildren to listen to his music and discard any pictures we may have of ADAM? I am one of the ADAM LAMBERT fans who considers herself a GLAMBERT because I THOUGHT it was a composite word coined by his fans (Glam for Glam Rock + Lambert) thusly GLAMBERT! Forgive me for misunderstanding the meaning. I had no idea that I was LUMPING myself into a bunch of OTT zealous females. Just reading these posts really saddens me. To think a young beautiful charasmatic talented humble caring funny eager-to-please individual should be the center of such vile remaeks from both sides is LUDICROUS! The truth of the matter is THIS IS ADAM’s LIFE & CAREER … IT DOES NOT BELONG TO HIS FANS … WE are simply supposed to ENJOY this GIFT that HE has CHOSEN to SHARE with ALL of us … REGARDLESS of what demographic we happen to be! THANK YOU ADAM from this GRANNY who will NEVER have the JOY of seeing you in person. PLEASE don’t stop making your WONDERFUL MUSIC … IT has been needed for DECADES!!
Tess, Tess, Tess… fess up, it was you who threw the dildo, right? Are you teaching your grandchildren the proper technique in throwing them, so they can more accurately reach their target? That’s what good GLAMBERT grannies do – pass on their batshit and crazy to the young ones. Are you going to buy them their first hit of acid, or mushrooms, how about letting them experiment with a little weed and coke, all in the spirit of freedom and fun like Adam has espoused. While we’re at it, are you reserving Friday night for gay porn viewing, for their sleepovers. You know, broaden their minds, expose them to all the different ways to make love. I wish I had a Grannie as cool as you.
Stealth, you really should take your medication on a regular basis. Srsly. It’s for your own good.
Adam is an amazingly talented & good-spirited human being. I can’t help but admire and respect him in every aspect. I am one of his 40+ fans and have worried about younger people being turned off by the demographics of his fan base. I was astounded to be able to stand in front of the stage at one of his Vancouver concerts – I wasn’t there because I wanted him to see me – it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to see and experience his talent up close. I didn’t throw anything at him or grab him; I just thoroughly enjoyed every moment. It’s a shame that a part of me has to feel embarrassed or even guilty that my appreciation for Adam may negatively effect his success. I don’t fantasize about him, but I love looking at him and listening to him. Watching him perform is exciting and fun. And I think the inspiration he has brought to so many people from all walks of life is nothing less than amazing. I think many of his middle-aged female fans truly do get him in a very unfiltered way – they like him for him. And because he is gay, it’s very non-threatening, it’s not a sexual thing. I truly regret that a few have apparently been overly aggressive and obsessive giving the rest of us a bad rap. Some of the comments here are a bit shocking: ranging from the feelings of entitlement to the comments that some should just stay home and listen to his cd’s. Both views are extreme and incredibly harsh. I hope his talent and positive energy will rise above all the stupid stuff and fans of all shapes, ages, and persuasions can comfortably and openly reflect back his wonderful light.
It’s nice to see a sane person here, finally. I, too, have been surprised by some of these discriminating remarks. It never occurred to me that a certain segment of the population would not be considered by some to be welcome at a paying event. I’m the type of person who likes to have up-close seats for any performance, whether it’s a play, ballet, movie, concert or whatever. Now I’m almost starting to feel a little like I shouldn’t try to get up-close seats for my husband and I at one of Adam’s concerts. Notice I said “almost” . . . :)
ADAM definitely has a diverse fan base and welcomes all! During and post idol I noticed that he mainly attracts women (largely because women make the biggest share of AI demographics), bi-curious guys (tend to like guys like Adam, like me thirty-something) , and few gay young guys.
A superstar attracts all. He definitely will Need to expand his fan base by attracting younger markets internationally (Asian & Latin American).
Please, everybody, please don’t hate. Please don’t discriminate on the basis of someone’s race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, nationality, AGE, or GENDER. Thanks. Many of the quotes above are very disturbing and disappointing. I would have thought that members of the gay community would understand something about not wanting to be discriminated against on the basis of a single aspect of who they are as a person and would want to be treated equally and fairly. We are all human afterall, and we all love Adam Lambert. Let’s respect each others’ differences and celebrate being part of a GLAMILY. The Glam Nation is a Nation of people from all backgrounds, old and young, rich and poor, gay and straight, male and female, and everything else in between, but the one thing we have in common is belief in LOVE, LIGHT, and POSITIVITY.
what is this glamily bullshit – sounds like a silly cult, or some twisted barney bullcrap..i love you, you love me, we’re a great big glamily… that sounds so juvenile and retarded and is exactly what makes people laugh at you all. love, light, positivity, hmmmm. what about that kookoo ebook published by one especially obsessed adam fan that slandered kris allen, members of his family, called the state of arkansas in essence crooks and criminals, and accused at and t and chik-fil-a of rigging the idol voting so allen could win. hmmmm… what about all the snide and hateful comments you all sling his way, whilst sitting around on those fat asses all day over on planet fierce and adam official and mjsbigblog… the rest of the nation and world is beginning to see you all for the delusional batshit crazies you’ve become. nope, not going a glamily anytime soon – i outgrew the taste of kool aid long time ago.
FAIL. Your butthurt over Kris Allen and reference to all the Idol tard websites indicates you’re mired in the American Idol Glambert bashing crowd. lame.
Dan — guess what? Straight women are not gonna stay home so the pretty boys can have Adam to themselves. In his private life I hope he is sorrounded by gay boys – but in concert? A ticket sale is a ticket sale is a ticket sale. Adam himself has said he adores ALL his fans – not just the ones he would shag. Deal with it. Also, the term ‘Glamberts’ does not refer to straight women fans – it actually encompasses all of Adams fans. You are a Glambert. What other artist has fans that think that fans should ‘hide’? Go to the concerts of artists whose music you enjoy. If other ‘fans’ don’t like it tough shit
adam has also called his fans sweaty and smelly. his behavior in avoiding the crush of them during the idol tour should give you a clue what he really thinks about them, lol. the mouth can say anything, and the mouths of politicians and those famewhoring or seeking money and attention damn sure say anything, whatever appeases their intended audience, or plays on their goodwill, or their slavish desire to like or get close to them. adam’s band partied and met with fans after his casino gig, he didn’t. would have been a perfect opportunity for him to show just how much he love his glamily.
@lovely rita Adam said SOME fans were sweaty & smelly which was understandable because the concerts were during the summer. He did not avoid the fans. He was out there with the rest of the Idols signing authographs and he was always very polite & gracious. In addition, Adam had to go to Las Vegas to mentor the S9 Idols the day after his Vancouver casino gig and his band did not. He tweeted that he had to rest up.
no other idol alum in seasons past ever complained about meeting and greeting their fans out in the sun, day in and out. many sucked it up, went out there on vocal rest and still let the fans know how much they appreciated them, and it wasn’t by insulting them for waiting hours on end to see the person they voted for. he came up w/excuses after excuse for not fulfilling his obligation to the fans on the tour, and got away with it. doesn’t look very well, or speak very well for someone who’s supposed to be all about his fans. yeah, keep spinning those excuses for him not making the time other idols and pop stars make before the shows and after the shows to meet their fans. many even offer paid vip packages that allow fans access to them before the shows. it’s financially lucrative for the stars, and gives the fans an opportunity to see and talk with their favorite up close and personal. he has not done this. doesn’t seem like the actions of a person all that enarmored with their fans. at least to most sane and objective people, ones not blinded by delusion and glitter dust. carry on, keep the lulz and spin coming. too much evidence out there to refute and mock you all with.
i think some people have become confused. i admittedly made an irrelevant comment about hetros coming into a gay club etc. and now people see that as an attack on their ‘right’ to see adam and the gay community trying to make him a poster boy (that’s a bit of a leap there). this is not what i intended people to think. i was making a gripe about a particular fan who obviously had an immense sense of entitlement to this event held at the club. i’ve noticed that some fans can be like that, but i wont fan any flames by going into that. if the bouncers let you in, you have the ‘right’ to be there, if they dont, you dont. it’s their prerogative. simple as. i apologise that my comments were digressive, i didnt think a quick whinge would be taken politically! message boards can me vortexs of different opinions. as for people who make nasty insults about people whilst hiding behind the anonaminity of an avatar, it’s just not on. show some of these ladies respect!
I for one will not be caught dead at an Adam concert and it’s all the Glambert’s fault. They have turned a talented guy into a compete joke.
No one believes you, your hidden agenda didn’t work. No one with a thinking brain lets whoever or whatever have more importance than his own opinion or preferences. Poor you Aaron, but it’s your choice. Here’s a thought: take a lesson from Adam, he dosen’t blame, make excuses or complain that’s for losers (hello,Aaron, lol )
Anon,
It is certainly your choice, but I have to tell you, it’s your loss. It would truly be worth it to suck it up and just go to a concert – he’s awesome! No one can turn such a talent into a complete joke.
Wanna bet?
Every person attending is paying to be there. Old, young, gay, straight, bi-sexual,etc. You either embrace the whole fan base, or you have no career or income. Adam Lambert is a smart entertainer, and he is aware of this. Thats the price of FAME.
I’m a big fan of Adam but obsessed entitled fans aren’t helping Adam. You want him to be successful but you are scaring off potential fans. This event was at a gay members only club, they booked him there for their regular cliental. If this was in a trendy club old or ugly or fat people wouldn’t have been given entry there either, sorry but it’s reality. The world does not revolve around Adam Lambert you are allowed to have other interests. Be a fan but no need to be all entitled and embarrassing.
exactly. the voice of reason speaks. i worry that some of these people dont have a life! actually maybe i dont either when i am on here in the office instead of working! (this is much more fun tho..)
This fight inside the Adam’s fanbase dont does anything good for him and this is hapenning because Adam is at the begining of his career and he or his manegement has no the image of the dimension of the place where he perform . In time that will be fix , but for now people who loves Adam are so diverse , are growing in number and is hard to controle this situation. All we have need Adam and Adam needs of us , he dont reject anyone and respect all his fans . Adam say in all his interviews that he dont wants to split the human comunity , he wants to reunite . I think he no needs another struggle , with his fanbase , is enough with haters and homophobs . If you love somebody you must to let him free to decide himself what is good for him and what isnt and help him if you can . Adam and his fanbase is studied in Psichology Today by specialistes and i dont want a label like ‘crazy’ , ‘rude’, ‘uneducated’ and so on because i am an educated women , engineer, i raised and educated 3 children , i am polite and i love very much music especialy rock and i apreciate the huge talent of Adam , his beauty inside and outside . About discrimination i believe isnt good whatever is negative or positive . How about again place for straight people and place for gay people , place for arian people and place for nonarian people , place for white people and place for black people , schools , hospitals , jobs and so on. Please , is 21 century, no offense please.
Soooooooo all you posters you’ll all be at his concerts right?????? Such a feisty bunch. Get some of that anger out and go to a Adam Lambert concert and “dance your ASS off!!!! We need an EXORCISM here.
It’s so sad that Adam’s fans are fighting with each other. Let’s take a page out of Adam’s book, shall we?
“No matter how old you are, no matter who you sleep with, no matter what the color of your skin is. We can all party together.” Adam Lambert
“Love overcomes hate. Love has no color. Love has no orientation. All is love.” Adam Lambert
“I love you all. If I could touch you all, I would touch you all.” Adam Lambert
see, this is the kind of weird behavior that we are talking about. Jeez, hes not the mesiah – get a grip! stop quoting him like he’s some kind of god! you people are so creepy.
LOL, thnx for putting my thoughts into words.
Wierd to quote the guy? ok. Go check out a Muse fanboard mostly all under 25 if you want to be creeped out. The question is why are YOU here? Cook or Aiken? lmao.
These are not Adam fans fighting with each other for the most part. They are mostly Lambert haters from the American Idol subculture who resent his fans and his success. OR idiots who assume that because he used AI as a platform to get a record deal that he is lacking in talent. lmao.
geez believe me. middleaged women don’t want to be middleaged women. Middleage is not something that is chosen..it happens and it will happen to all the beautiful young girls/boys here who are bashing them. what is going on outside rarely reflects what is happening on the inside. I hope Adam’s sentiment of “why can’t we all just party together” can be embraced, although i do believe there is a time and a place for this togetherness.
Sheesh.. im over 40 and an Adam fan. I also have gone to gay nightclubs when i was in my 30′s. now im not so sure if i’d be welcome :( but i knew where I was and I showed a sense of respect for the gays there by acting properly. I never felt unwelcome. I want to see Adam in concert and would not want to NOT be able to see him coz im over 40. that would suck!!!! Reading all your posts tell me something.. people and culture are different over the pond, and I also believe that people in europe are more health conscious than over here in the States, and i can see why they would perceive Americans to be fat and old, coz overweight is not attractive. However, i would hope that Adam does attract more cute gay bois at all his concerts. Adam needs more of a male fan base AND more gay fan base. I know gay men are very conscious of “their type” and looking good. Well, men are men, and many men seem to judge beauty on physical looks, whether homo or hetero.
I am interest in knowing if young, ugly, fat people both straight and gay are allowed at Adam’s performances. If they are, do they need to stand in the back with a bag over their heads???
No, I think it’s just the older ones. However, if they are REALLY ugly and REALLY fat, the young ones might have to stand in the back along with the older ones, but maybe without the bag if really young. Check your venue’s requirements before attending the concert. It may be left up to the artist, though. I am just wondering if the bags are supplied by the venue, or if people have to bring their own.
I think it is the BEHAVIOR of certain fans, not age, looks, etc. that is an issue. I call myself a Glambert, and I am a 29 year old lesbian. Certainly not old/ugly. I have buddies from Adam sites that are NOT overzealous, juvenile, entitled, etc. We might fantard on the sites, but we keep it respectable at concerts. However, I HAVE found ENTIRE UNOFFICIAL FAN BOARDS of Adam fans that are over invested, obsessed, and way OTT. That certainly does not apply to his entire female fan base, and those of you that are perpetuating the idea that it does, you really are misinformed. Of course he wants cute young gay boys, but that’s not the only demographic he attracts, and he knows it. I think the worst thing we can do for Adam is to start a rift online between different groups/demographics of fans. As he said, ‘our diversity is what makes us beautiful.’
yo yo i am alexis iraheta i’ve changed ma name 2 alexis lambert! can u help me immafun1??????????????? i cant find the whistle!!!!!
