Crystal Bowersox is the last girl standing on American Idol season 9, as Siobhan Magnus, the quirky former glass-blower with vocal range and personal style out of this world, is given the boot in the season’s most shocking elimination so far.
Siobhan had been called the “dark horse” of the season since wowing the judges with her big voice on soulful songs like Aretha Franklin‘s “Think” and Stevie Wonder‘s “Superstition,” but she also proved she could slow things down with her gorgeous and haunting performances of “Wicked Games” by Chris Isaak and the Beatles‘ “Across The Universe.”
But in recent weeks, she had been standing on somewhat shaky ground in the competition. A couple weeks back on Elvis night, Simon Cowell called her performance of “Suspicious Minds” “erratic” and “screechy.” A limp try at “When You Believe” by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey last week inspired Kara DioGuardi to tell Siobhan, “I’d wanna hang out with you more than buy your record ’cause I still don’t know who you are.”
She made a turn-around Tuesday night, with the judges declaring her back in action, but it was too late. After Michael Lynche and Casey James headed back to safety, and it was revealed Siobhan would be going home, the crowd voiced their disappointment in boos and showed their support with a standing ovation.
Before taking her final bow, Siobhan treated America to one last sassy performance of “Think” capped off by her signature scream.
Next week, the top five singers will be mentored by Harry Connick Jr. for a Frank Sinatra theme.
She just screams, nothing big about that… and not so shocking.. glad she is going home.

Exactly!!! Crystal is light years beyond the others and in a league all her own!! This woman sings from the bottoms of her feet all the way through her heart! She IS music.
They voters got it right this week. However, did anyone watch Shakira play the harmonica? The sound was still coming out of the harmonica she took it away from her mouth. Also, her lipstick was untouched. Did they really need to do that??? Really?

Well, that’s the beauty of music and art. There is something for everyone and just because one person doesn’t like something doesn’t mean that others don’t. We can all enjoy something.
I’m with you I’m sick of Crystal! She is like a cheap immitation Janis Joplin. She has always bugged me!

I don’t think you understand, these final 12 are all excellent only one will become this year’s winner. The others will most likely have wonderful careers , they are all very talented artists. Siobhan hs an incredible talent, I wish her well! That being said, I do hope Crystal will win. Let’s just be respectful to all of the other contestants.

Its about time she heads home. She is by far the worst singer of the bunch. Just because she can screech like a banshee doesn’t make her a good singer. Good bye to her!

I get goosebumps when Aaron sings! That’s how I judge if I like somebodys voice or not. There is something about his sincerity that comes through his voice. He is a country singer and I love watching him perform. He seems like the most real one of them all! Crystal seems like a fake!
I thought Siobhan was going to end up in the finale with my girl Crystal! I’m really sad with the results
I think it was Siobhan’s time to go. Her performances had been inconsistent.

Any one with some music education would realize Siobhan was the best and the most unique singer of the 12 contestants.
Simon gave her such a tough time every week, obviously he wanted her out.
Sorry to see her gone, the show will not have the same quality for the rest of the season.
She will be successful no doubt about !
