Siobhan Magnus on The Ellen Show
Her elimination from American Idol Wednesday night (April 28) was a shocking one, but Siobhan Magnus is dealing with it “one day at a time,” she told Idol judge and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.
Appearing on The Ellen Show, Siobhan talked about her elimination and the contestants’ tradition of having one last intimate dinner with the fallen Idols. “We each take turns saying nice things, or really mean things about each other. Depends how you wanna go about it,” Siobhan said. And like with her dare-to-be-different wardrobe choices, Siobhan opted to be the person to make everyone laugh rather than get sappy. “I kind of took it upon myself to be the one to instead of making everybody cry I’d try to make everybody laugh. And that might mean roasting each other or saying embarrassing or mean things about the person. But we’d all rather laugh than cry.”
After her interview, Siobhan hit the stage to perform, revisiting one of her finest moments from Idol with “House of the Rising Sun.”
There are only five more contestants left in the competition this season. As we get closer to the May 26 finale, take a look back at memorable moments season 5, which included another shocking elimination when Chris Daughtry got the boot, every Saturday in May on American Idol Rewind. *stands up clapping* Siobhan is THE best vocalist of this season
True!
Absolutley!! I fully agree with you!! Tom
This girl is one of the best. It is mind numbing and hard to understand how she got eliminated. Myself, like millions of others were angry and bitter at first. We wanted to see more her for at least a few more weeks. Never the less, I would like to thank the American Idol for discovering Siobhan Magnus. American Idol has provided a stage for budding new stars to showcase their singing talents. In Siobhan’s case, her performing talent was showcased. American Idol has opened the doors for her and for others and changed lives. This golden opportunity for her is what I am extremely thankful for. I have always said from the very beginning either way; win or lose. She will always be my American Idol.
I fully agree with you! THANKS! Tom
Siobhan IS the BEST – and I have so much trouble understanding HOW she was eliminated from the running – when I contrast her with her peers on the show. There must be ways for other contestants to electronically rig the voting for this type of event to occur. I know that if the judges would have had another opportunity to reinstate someone, she would be it! I have only recently watched the show with my wife – and now I’m not sure it’s worth the time knowing that something doesn’t work in terms of fairness. Maybe the judges should be able to revoke an exclusion more than one time per season. I certainly expect that she will do well in her future career! MY BEST TO HER!! Tom Harlan
I watched Magnus on Ellen. Liked her a bit on the 2-3 Idol episodes I had time to see and thought she was particularly good on one song. Thought she was interesting, so as Friday was a day off I thought I’d see how she was in another venue besides Idol.
What I saw was a young woman that beamed charisma and positive personality in chat with Ellen, looked beautiful, and then did a sensational job on stage singing “House of the Rising Sun” to a standing ovation by the audience.
I think she will be a star. Siobhan Magnus.
Her time on the Ellen show was far better than a “fallen Idol courtesy visit” – this was a person you hope will not only be on other shows as “former Idol” but rebooked on the strength of their guest appearance and how favorably impressed the audience was with them.
Tom H. – I know that many believe that Idol wanted all the women but Crystal Bowersox eliminated. I know that the surprise elimination of a contestant with huge buzz, fan base, and never in Bottom 3 was unfathomable.
It just seems so insane though, to think that Idol producers have gotten so fixated on record sales and the piddling money they will make off “ready to put out an album contestants” but are not the ones the audience tunes in to watch – that they threaten the shows ratings – which make up 98% of their revenue. And part of it is apparantly enlisting judges to impose different standards on Siobhan, Didi Benami and other contestants that the audience (not the speed text voters) liked and wanted to see more of. Insane. But that does appear the case. Even rigging the voting seems less conspiracy than what may have happened in keeping Big Mike – low vote getter in every poll and dialidol report.
Ratings are being hurt. Simon Fuller better be looking for some producer’s heads after this season.
I really liked Siobhan. I really liked her. She can really sing and we will probably be buying her records even though she did not win. I am a fan of Crystal and she has been my pick from the start. I don’t think the votes are rigged. I think that Siobhan should maybe think about not screaming (as Simon put it) on every song. She has a beautiful voice and we don’t always have to hear that.
My favorite of all time, Constantine, also went home 6th and look where he is now. He’s the star of the hit Broadway musical, Rock of Ages and was nominated for a Tony for Best Leading Actor in a Musical. So, with that said, 6th is the new 1st, in my opinion! Although I would have liked Siohban to have gone much further, she joins the ranks of the other 6th place finalists and they are a very honorable group. Big Mike may stay, but in the long run, he’ll fade quickly once off the show.
the votes were rigged the number to vote for her went to aron kelly and not here no fair…let her back on
sioban got her fans glued so the sudden elimination led us to a shock, a majority believed to be seeing her till the end, well, it’s not our show, people can just do anything for bad or good, i hope it’s good for sioban.she got the x factor in drawing fans which is good for the business.perhaps they’re in a hurry, hahahaha.she’ll be sailing ahead of the rest i assume and so sooner than we can imagine her on the stage.good luck sioban…God bless
