Katy Perry and Snoop Dogg - twitpic
Looks like Snoop Dogg joined Katy Perry in the studio back in March to give her more than just a couple of lessons in swagger. He also laid down a verse on her new song “California Gurls.”
The track, which will appear on Katy’s as-yet-untitled sophomore album, has hit the internet.
Katy penned the summery, 90′s-inspired ode to Cali to sort of rival Jay-Z and Alicia Keys‘ massive hit about their hometown, “Empire State of Mind.” She told Rolling Stone magazine: “It’s so great that ‘Empire State of Mind’ is huge and that everyone has the New York song, but what the f*ck? What about L.A.? What about California?”
Along with the 90′s house music vibe, Katy says she and the song’s producer, Dr. Luke, were inspired by the funky sounds of Prince.
Can “California Gurls” stack up to “Empire State of Mind”? Our guess is no, but only time will tell. If anything, the song will surely blast through a few rolled-down car windows on the highway this summer.

I don’t like this song or her voice. She needs a hotter beat to keep me from turning this when it comes on the radio. On a positive note: She looks beautiful on the cover. Nicki and Katy are one of few people who can look good in cartoon colored hair.
who is nicki?
