American Idol winner Lee Dewyze has been busy making the promotional rounds since his big win last week. The promotional blitz brought him to NBC’s Today Show yesterday (June 2) for a performance of his new single, the U2 cover Beautiful Day.
Unlike the busy, jumbled performance he gave of the song during the Idol performance night finale, Lee stripped the song back and made it more of his own. Now mostly guitar driven, it gave Lee a chance to display some fine vocal work.
Maybe if this version was the one for his official studio version of the single, it would fair better on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Lee’s Beautiful Day currently sits at No. 24–a fairly low debut for an American Idol winner’s single.
Im a big fan of LEE , Im so happy he won. I just wish he had sung this version on finale face off with crystal so that there were’nt so many negative comments about his performance. This is mush better version and he should have recorded this too, it may have reach no1 spot in billboard. But i love you lee
