Katy Perry Sorta Explains Calling Lady Gaga’s “Alejandro” Blasphemy

Katy Perry - NRJ

Katy Perry had the twitterverse’s panties in a tight knot last week when soon after the controversial video for Lady Gaga‘s new single “Alejandro” premiered she tweeted: “Using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling a fart joke.”

Perry made no mention of Gaga’s name, but the mass assumptions and no follow-up from Perry to deny them quickly turned rumor into fact.

So, did Katy call “Alejandro” blasphemy? According to the merry-go-round of a response she gave French radio station NRJ, yes…and no.

“Everybody was assuming that I was directing [the tweet] completely towards her and if I was directing something I would write their [twitter username],” she said. “Lately I’ve just been seeing some things that are kind of like, I don’t know, in my own personal feelings, a little bit like not something I would do I guess.”

Perry, who dropped Madonna and her fiance Russell Brand into the mix of those using blasphemy, quickly took aim at those who say she’s the pot calling the kettle black since she made a name for herself kissing girls and using other blatant attempts to shock. She admits to sometimes being a “very hypocritical person” but says “most of the time — you can disagree or agree — spirituality and sexuality are two separate things and then when you decide to put them into the same subject, it gets interesting.”

Despite having a “different viewpoint,” Perry says she’s “one of the biggest Lady Gaga fans.”

Are you kidding? As a Christian, I think what Lady Gaga did was disgraceful, BUT Katy Perry’s I Kissed A Girl song is blasphemy as well. Homosexuality or it’s desire is considered an abomination in the Bible. Katy better get the log out of her own eye before she judges others.

That is one point of view not all peoples though.

      • anonymouse says:

uh-oh another anti-Christian facist – why are you anti-spiritual people so intolerant?

        • Anonymous says:

That wasn’t anti christian or anti- spiritual or fascist. It’s just that MOST, NOT ALL, MOST, Christians such as yourself think any view other than your own is wrong, blasphemic and immoral. Just because someone is gay does not mean they are a bad person. The “anti-spiritual” people are so far from being anti-spiritual or intolerant it, amazes me that you would think that. In point of fact, the most racist people, the most homophobic people, and quite often the most intolerant people in general are the Christians. So shut it.

CRAPP, stick your bible up your butt along with your homophobic rants and genocidal lunacy tendencies. You Christians are bloodthirsty maniacs, pedophiles and rapists, nothing more. And in English, people who went to school instead of having being beaten on their heads with your shitty bible write “its desire,” not “it’s desire,” you illiterate imbecile. Go marry a cousin, brush your tooth, rinse with moonshine and go to sleep in your swamp, you filthy degenerate.

really, quoting the bible, to justify hatred? I know of one or two reverends and many a catholic priest that have made into the news lately, that can quote many more verses of hypocrisy. peace, love and good will to all men and women.

Ignorance leads to religion. Religion is all mythology. Go to school and actually learn something. Stop blindly following stupidity.

Stop preaching contradictions such as “an unconditional loving God hates homosexuals.”

I hope next time she wears a crown of thorns and carries a rainbow painted cross while wearing her bubble dress surrounded by men in speedos.

It’s religious idiots like you that started the 7 crusades and the holocaust. Stop spreading hatred.
      Long live GaGa!!!

      • Anonymous says:

I think you mean “an unconditional loving God hates homosexuality”
now try and argue how God doesn’t hate sin. That would be fantastic.

ima very spiritual person and i respect peoples opinions as long as they dont force it on others but i believe that god does not hate homosexuals. i think that god loves all men and women no matter color, sexuality, race or other. and i think its about time someone would just stop being so negetive and bashing each other. i just hope that one day ppl wouldnt be so inferior or hate each other because peace can go along way if we just do the part

While I personally think that the use of certain religous artifacts in a sexual manner in a music video is distasteful. I think this was blown out of proportions. I also wanted to say something to the person calling homosexuality blasphemy and a abomination according to the bible. It depends what bible you are talking about. There are so many different versions. But if you refer to the one that is considered the oldest and true bible. Then that statement is slightly inaccurate. I wont start a war on which bible by which religion is right but I do believe that Katie has done enough in the terms of shock value to not be judging anyone else. I think however all this was is a cheap publicity trick that katie and gaga came up with.

    • Kae says:

I hate to disagree with you. There is only one Bible and it makes it pretty clear about homosexuality. It’s people like you who wish to dilute and water down the gospel. Don’t believe me, learn Greek and read the original.

  4. katfish says:

Her stuff is so overproduced you cant even tell which instruments you are hearing. Anyone ever see the episode Smelly cat smelly cat what are they feeding you-on Friends? The final commercial production on that episode reminds me of Lady Gags crap. Too much bells and whistles and pyro technichs when the music is abysmal. Its like when you ad too much hot sauce to the food. You dont nitice it taste like puke cuz your mouth is burning. Same analogy with this broad’s stuff.

  5. katfish says:

Oh! and yes I heard Lady Gags piano playing. Nothing special. Let me say that her attack is way too harsh on the keys, her melodic structure is bleak and abysmal, her chord progressions are depressing and dark, and all of her crap lacks originality. I would even go so far as to say that her material plagerizes itself either that or the musical patterns are too similar.

Is she a drug addict too like WineHouse? Her music listens like she just shot up some bad black tar heroin. THis would explain her lack of style when it comes to fashion. Does her 3 year old neice dress her when her drag queen friends cant? Lady Gagg on Crap it is not you that disturbs me as much as the society where by I am held hostage.

    Lady Gagg blaspemizes music-Yes

This just in from her illegitimate daughter:

“Mommy why are you such an embarrasing talentless slut? Please dont pick me up at school anymore. The other kids pick on me and say Im going to grow up to be the Devil’s Bride just like you. Please Satan dont take my momma to hell with all the other prostitutes that think they can sing.”

    • missV says:

AHAHAHAHAHAHA!! WOW I don’t think I could’ve said it better myself :) lady gaga is LAME. She tries so hard to be original but she ends up looking like a bad joke and sounding about the same. My two year old uses her name as an insult. Since she’s obviously not allowed to use bad words, she’ll call people “lady gaga” when they’re being idiots :)

      • Anonymous says:

omg shut the fuck up seriously. u ppl are pathetic. talking about gaga and saying shes lame and judging her performance, grow up. u ppl have some nerve 2 talk. i dont see u up there making music, getting awards and being successful, stop bashing people like u know them in and out, just really fucking pathetic

You are the good type of christian, my friend.. and your words were very uplifting. Thank you for promoting peace and not hate, may other people take a page from your book. ?

  7. peaceplease says:

I am a Christian and I believe in practicing peace and love toward every human being. I love and accept heterosexuals, homosexuals, blacks, whites, Republicans, Democrats, and everyone in between. No where in the Bible does it state that God hates anyone. God loves all of His children and so why should we not follow in His footsteps? You don’t have to agree with what someone is doing or how they are living their life, but don’t harbor resentment, hatred, or evil in your heart by thinking less of others and judging them. Worry about yourself and being the best Christian you can be. Spreading peace and love will open more people’s eyes to the truth than hateful words that bash other human beings. We are all sinners. There is only one perfect being and He is the most peaceful and loving of all.

    • Love&Peace says:

I absolutely agree with you, I wish more people would have this perspective on things like this.

We should all be pulling for each other to know Christ and be saved, hope I see you in Heaven.

  11. Ada Mina says:

Maybe Katy Perry is more sober here, even though I saw a picture of her in California Gurls as a crazy cartoon character, more in touch with her roots so that’s why she isn’t making another single about queerness anymore. That’s why she got shocked by Gaga’s Alejandro video.

  12. Open-minded says:

You all don’t get it. Lady Gaga is defending women & catholics. Fucktards.
    Do your research.
