By now everyone’s heard of Bieber Fever. Today, New York City caught a case of Drake Delirium.
The NYPD was forced to shut down a free concert starring the Canadian rapper/singer at the Seaport when the crowd became unruly — fighting and rioting — causing safety concerns.
According to WABC in New York, the crowd for the concert, which also had the singing band of brothers Hanson on the bill, swelled to 25,000 people — more than double the amount authorities had planned for.
WABC reports that arrests were made and non-life threatening injuries were reported.
Despite the shut down, Drake planned on taking the stage. He tweeted: “Police are shutting down the show at South Seaport! I’m on my way anyways…Drizzy Hendrix Woodstock 2010.” His rebel actions were canned when NYPD refused to allow him on stage in any fashion.
“I am so dissapointed [sic],” Drake tweeted. “To all the devoted fans that came out I wish you could have seen what I had planned! Until next time.”
The concert was in support of Drake’s highly anticipated debut album, Thank Me Later, which was released today.

I think that if Drake wants to perform at Seaport than the NYPD should allow him. Today’s his day, and would make it speacial with his new release of his album Thank Me Later!
i was there and my life was threatened. people were getting too out of control and started to throw chairs and potted plants off a balconies. I’m lucky i left when I did, it probably would have gotten much worse.
I really would have loved to see Drake perform, I only waited four hours -__-
I LOVE YOU DRAKE! and screw the people who threw chairs. newyorkers dont kno how to act
I THREW 2 CHAIRS… AND GOT HIT BY ONE.
Man, 25,000 people sure missed a better show in Red Hook tonight.
So i started by the uno entrance and ended up about 10 ft or less from the stage. People pushed and shoved with intense power! It was soo aggravating. Im so surprised that adults acted so immature it was so rude too drake and his true fans! Unrest started as it passed 6 and drake wassnt there. But there was uncalled for nonsense! People were smoking illegal drugs, stomping on people, fights broke out & it was soo hard to exit the premises. Water bottles were being thrown and almost hit me. The people on the hut would not come down, too me thats what started all the unrest. They should have just listened when told nicely and im pretty sure things could have gotten on with. The beginning was ok they played music and everyone was pretty calm.
All in all it was a fabulous evening, thankfully we are thrilled we overlooked this stupendous affair. Let’s hope Drake reminds us to turn up next time he drops by along with the 69 000 people who will be there too…
