After being shut out of last year’s tribute to Michael Jackson at the BET Awards — at the last minute, to his surprise — it seems R&B superstar Chris Brown is finally getting a chance to publicly pay homage to the man he says made him want to do music in the first place.
BET blogger Gyant, who is in Los Angeles covering the awards show, has learned that the network will include Brown in its tribute to the King of Pop to mark the one year anniversary of his shocking death.
The details surrounding Brown’s appearance at the show has yet to be confirmed by BET execs or Brown’s own team but Gyant assures fans his source is “VERY reliable,” though he’s unsure of what Brown will perform.
It’s still unclear why BET pulled the plug on Brown’s performance last year. Rumors of meddling by Jay-Z, Rihanna, or show sponsors have been denied.
The BET Awards will air live Sunday, June 27 at 8PM EST.

i am very happy also that Chris will be able to perform i was disappointed that i didn’t get to see him last year. I think it was wrong and hateful to not include him last year he should have been there.

After watching the tributes to Michael Jackson all weekend, I was overjoyed to find that Chris Brown will be “allowed” to perform at BET’s tribute. BET should be honored to have Breezy. I’m sure Michael is happy. It’s about time we forgive our own. Good Karma to Chris Brown.

I am thrilled that Chris Brown will be performing at the BET Awards tonight. I hope this is true. Last year was the most boring BET Award Show to date…a total DUD, which is sad because it should have been the best. The tribute to MJ was lackluster and the performers did not capture the true essence of Michael. It was a rushed show…and it showed. It was in the poorest of judgement to not let Chris Brown perform. I was so looking forward to seeing him to perform and was stunned that he did not. No one can pull off a tribute like CB would have. If rumors are tru that JayZ had some influence in this decision…then shame on BET. JAY Z needs to sit his OLD ass down, and let the YOUNG people do their thing. …anyways…You go Chris…You are still one of the the BEST Male entertainer out there. You’ve paid you dues for what U did [and rightfully so]. It’s time for EVERYONE to move on and out of your way so you can life your life and do your thing. My prayers & support to ya!!

I’m happy he’s performing, especially if it’s the MJ tribute. I’ve been to every Chris Brown concert in NYC and at each show he did an MJ tribute, and this is way before MJ passed away. Chris Brown is the only artist that recognized MJ and his true talent. All of these artist started recognizing him after he passed, and that just isn’t right. So GOOD LUCK to Chris!

Oh My Goodness, I just watched the tribute to Michael Jackson, and Chris Brown was phenominal!! It was like the spirit of Michael came down for one last performance…and Chris Brown much PROPS!! It truely a sad moment when he had to sing, Man In The Mirror, it just shows that even a year after the June 25th,2009 death of Michael Jackson it’s still a hard pill to swallow. But still a heartfelt moment…
