Ciara‘s new album, Basic Instinct, has finally gotten a firm release date, and it looks like it’ll have some steep competition.
The R&B star’s fourth album will be released on August 24, she announced on Twitter.
Led by the sexy groove “Ride” featuring Ludacris, Basic Instinct will go head-to-head with pop star Katy Perry’s long-awaited sophomore album, Teenage Dream, being released the same day.
Perry’s collection of sticky sweet pop tunes has already got a leg up on the competition. Teenage Dream‘s first single, “California Gurls” featuring Snoop Dogg, has spent four week on top the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
Basic Instinct is the follow-up to Ciara’s album, Fantasy Ride, which was released last year to lukewarm sales.

Nothing new from her same ass shaking, weak ass vocals , and nothing innovative!
Perception is reality. If she releases the album and it fails to go to #1, heads will consider her career a wrap.
She needs a release date that guarantees a #1 debut, because ‘Ride’s’ failure to chart top 10 is already a setback.
