Christina Aguilera admits to loving big productions and over the top makeup, all can be found in the video for “Not Myself Tonight,” the first single from her album Bionic, but for the album’s second single, the smoky ballad “You Lost Me,” Aguilera wanted there to be fewer antics and more focus on raw emotion.
“For this particular song, it was really important to me that I really interpret the simplicity of the raw emotion that takes place in the song itself and not any sort of theatrics involved,” Xtina told VH1 on the video’s set.
Xtina, sporting longer, strawberry blonde hair, took VH1 behind the scenes of the video. Even though she wants the video to be less like “Not Myself Tonight,” she still got dirty — literally. The production staff used over 200-pounds of charcoal to make the gritty surroundings that would be the stage for Xtina to play out a painful breakup.
