Nicki Minaj in "Your Love"
The Harajuku Barbie, otherwise known as Nicki Minaj, is in rare form in her new video for N. 1 Billboard Rap chart hit, “Your Love.” The Lil X-directed clip finds the highly anticipated female lyricist dialing back her usual facial theatre and Crayola box wig case in homage to love and war, Japanese-style.
In the video, Minaj finds herself playing the role of student to actor Michael Jai White’s sensei. Although a love connection is sparked between the “geisha” and “samurai”, the green-eyed monster rears its ugly head in the form of one of Minaj’s martial arts classmates.
With sexy kimonos and Asian fashions, colorful silk and satin production designs, and kick ass girls peppered throughout, Minaj proves that a simple, demure, yet tough Nicki is just as captivating as a flamboyant, unpredictable, multi-colored wig wearing Nicki. And sometimes… less is so much more.
