M.I.A. could really use a time out…
In a new interview with Time Out magazine, M.I.A. goes on the attack against pop star Lady Gaga — again — and takes the queen of all media, Oprah Winfrey, down with her.
Discussing the recent Metropolitan Ball in New York, she said, “She [Oprah Winfrey] made this huge speech at the ball praising Lady Gaga and about how she is helping Americans to be the best of themselves. There’s millions of other Americans who represent that for me.”
“Is [it] about numbers? About how much you’re selling? Is it truly about the journey?,” she continued. “Because [Lady Gaga's] journey isn’t that difficult: to go from the f*cking Upper East Side to a f*cking performing arts school and on to a stage at the museum of f*cking wherever. That journey’s about four miles.”
The “Paper Planes” performer went on to gripe about Oprah seemingly giving her “the cold shoulder” at the event. “She was with [supermodel] Iman. Iman was always dancing with me, hugging and kissing me, but Oprah seemed really pissed off with me.”
M.I.A., who is currently out supporting her new album, MAYA, previously made headlines when she called Gaga “a good mimic.”
actually. mia might be on to something. i always agreed with her about her views on gaga. but if oprah was actually being a bitch to her, thats reality. oprah praising one female whos exploded in 2 years time, over a REAL ARTIST, and acting shitty torwards her? wow. cant say anything else. just ironic.
I think MIA is bitter. Yes, everyone had their own struggle, in reality we don’t know all she went through. Gaga has only been in the public eye for a short time and has made a huge impact.
M.I.A. is envious of these hardworking people. Marrying herself into money has made her this way. Just because your rich, doesn’t mean people will follow your bitter ways and comments. Your a mother now, grow the fuck up and set an example for your son. Poor kid…
