New Video: Lil Wayne Is Sorely Missed In Drake’s “Miss Me”

Lil Wayne and Drake in "Miss Me"

Drake‘s “Miss Me” is a clear stand out on the Canadian rapper/singer/songwriter’s platinum debut album, Thank Me Later, but its video, which premiered on the internet and on MTV last night (August 19), isn’t exactly one of his best.

That could be due to “Miss Me”‘s featured guest, Lil Wayne, having to appear in the video projected onto objects like a wall in Drizzy’s apartment or a chain-linked fence in a yard.

Weezy’s scenes in the video, directed by Anthony Mandler (director of Drake’s “Over” and “Find Your Love”), were shot before he began severing time in prison, and we can only guess at the time of the shoot, Mandler didn’t exactly know where he wanted to take the video, and that’s why as a collective, it doesn’t make much sense. What’s clear is that the Young Money camp sorely miss their boss. Many in the YM fam gather in the yard to rap along to Weezy’s verse.
