The Devil tried and failed. ‘Takers’ beats ‘The Last Exorcism’ to become the No. 1 movie in the country.
Despite being behind just slightly in estimates over the weekend, ‘Takers’ came out on top, earning $20.6 million in its first weekend in theaters, while ‘The Last Exorcism’ earns $20.4 million, according to new box office numbers reported by ComingSoon.net.
The flashy heist flick more than likely has its strong cast, which includes two big music stars with uber-supportive fanbases, T.I. and Chris Brown, to thank for the great starting position.
Brown, who also serves as an executive producer on the film, thanked his fans all weekend long via Twitter for supporting the movie — his third film role. “Thanks to everyone who is supporting my movie takers. I love yall. Means a lot to me,” he wrote.

No numbers are not wrong. Even Sunday when there were estimates The Last Exorcism was falling off in sales while Takers increased and The Last Exorcism only had a 300k lead in the estimates so no surprise really Takers took the number 1 spot. And The Last Exorcism sucked ass Takers was the shit!

LOVE IT! See what can happen when we stop STEALING from each other (by bootlegging)?! It was breaking my heart this weekend to see so many BLACK people, especially black men, tweeting about making/buying a bootlegged copy of Takers or buying a ticket to another movie but SNEAKING into TAKERS, when young black men WROTE & PRODUCED IT. Those were estimates from yesterday morning. Both made less than what was estimated. Takers 20.6mil and The Last Exorcism 20.4mil

The numbers that are online that haters wanna think are right, are the projection numbers not official numbers from box office! So Takers is number one! Haters….give it up :)
Other websites are really DRAGGING their feet on updating the info! They wanted Takers to lose, soooo badly! They had their headlines all ready to go!
Relax. Sometimes the actual numbers aren’t finalized until Monday afternoon or even Tuesday and this one seems to be very close. Right now Takers is at #1 based on the studios estimates but Exorcism has it’s estimates too so we’ll just have to wait for the actual count to be announced.
Hey, the movie wasn’t even playing in my hometown theater in Virginia. So much for the support of a VA native CB. Takers was shown in fewer theaters because of the predominetly black cast–always happens. Anyway, Takers came in #1 so—TAke that!!!
Well really Takers performed better than the industry expected. It wasnt really expected to sell this much over the weekend at all. One reason being with Chris in the movie they thought no one would see it (so much for that lol). And movies around this time of the year dont do too well. So I very happy with these numbers.
I can see why the other websites are slow on updating the numbers cuz they are shocked they really wanted Takers to flop and it didnt. The fuck is a Last Exorcism anyway? Lol…jk…Takers was awesome though!

I’m so glad for the cast of ” Takers” mainly Chris Brown, I read so much garbage this past weekend, that people wouldn’t support the movie because of him, most movie critic’s gave it anywhere from 1 start to 2 stars… well it’s plain to see that people use there own judgements on going to see a movie, most gave the demon movie 3 stars, yet after Friday everyone was giving it a D for grade and was it wasn’t worth your money.. Well the numbers don’t lie… #1 movie in America….. Chris Brown has talent that you can’t deny, he has the fastest moving single on the radio and billboard for the first time since 1999, when Destiny Child did it.Not bad for over a year and half ago people said his career was over, I guess those people finally realize they weren’t God!

I can’t say I was impressed the movie even following a well trended path couldn’t come together.
The plot itself was stupid and the writing was only good in a so bad its good way.
Some bits like that bit with the helicopter seemed more like something that would fit into a parody than a real movie.

My whole family went to see takers. We all are in agreement takers was spectular and Chris performance was as great as his MJ performance on the Bet awards show. You are a great Man Mr. Chris Brown. I’m so happy for everyone involve in Takers that it took the #1 spot last weekend.I’m especially happy for Chris Brown! Love that kid and he has dealt with so much judgement from his fellow flawed human beings but the love his fans have for him canceled out the judgement from other imperfect human beings.
I’m also happy that so many people came out for the movie.Make no mistake the various fan bases of all the Black men as well as Ray Hernandez involved in the movie is what took it over the top.Not saying that the white men involved didn’t bring out fans but lets be real,only Chris,Idris,Tip and Michael promoted the movie….
The bottom line and not being racist is that white america didn’t want this movie to be succesful… Even now if you google search ” Takers” most of their sites haven’t been updated. Now that Takers is number one, some of the reading is ” it barley made it etc. but, yesterday it was a different story. Takers was given 1 and a half stars -2 stars by the majority of the critic’s, The Last Exorcism was given 3 stars by crtic’s and open on more screens than Takers. They can spam all they like, it won’t change the fact that ” Takers” is the number 1 movie in america and Chris “Breezy’ Brown has the # 1 song!!!!

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED THIS MOVIE AND WILL BE SEEING IT AGAIN THIS WEEKEND! Chris Brown’s action sequence was amazing! Great job boy! Hayden Christensen surprised me I really liked his charcater as well! The overall movie was just great and I am glad that ppl didn’t allow the DEVIL(S) TO WIN! They were trying to sink the movie but the supportive fans wouldn’t let it hapepn!
