Khalil in "Girlfriend Ringtone"
Ever since Chris Brown entered manhood, started singing about sexing women down, and (let’s keep it all the way real) put a nasty little blemish on his squeaky clean image, the rush has been on to find a new R&B/pop upstart with the voice, the looks, and the dance moves to try to pick up where he left off. Breezy is doing just fine, thank you very much, but that doesn’t stop record labels from trying.
Enter Island Def Jam Records and their new signee, Khalil. The 15-year-old California native is getting his start in a big way with the help of the summery Sean Garrett-penned single “Girlfriend Ringtone.” The video was released today, and if it doesn’t conjure up memories of a fresh-faced Breezy, we don’t know what else will.
From his styling down to his voice, you get the mental image that storyboards depicting Chris Brown’s rise to fame were laid out on a boardroom table in the marketing meetings for Khalil’s launch. That’s not to say it’s a terribly bad thing. To mimic such a talent, you have to have the talent. We’re just hoping a clearer identity is shown as Khalil matures in this business. For now, Baby Breezy is what they’ll call him.

I wouldn’t compare him to Chris at all. They BOTH do their thing when they’re on stage and that’s what matters when it comes to their talent. Doing good on stage wood mean they both sing and dance well.
Khalil will have just as much fans as Chris .

ummm khalil, i respect him cus he made it. but no he should not be compared to CB, its tooooo early. He barley danced in this video, i dont even think he can dance. Eehhhh I don’t feel it, man. The chorus doesn’t do much, it’s like Sean Garrett just filled up the chorus with as many notes as he possibly could and it never really hits home or goes anywhere. I think the only kid who will give Chris Breezy a run for his money is Alejandro from Warner Bros. Records.
I think Khalil is a really good singer, and he is quite good looking as well…. but in this video he dosent look so hot.
