NL Interview Bits: 12 Random Questions With Robyn

Things you might already know about Robyn: she toured the US in support of her new album, Body Talk Pt. 1, with fellow pop star Kelis, she’s Swedish, she debuted years ago with the still-just-as-awesome-today hit “Show Me Love,” and she’s performing this year at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Things you might not know about Robyn: what her favorite dance currently is, what the best meal she ever had was, what her favorite hip-hop song is.

While Robyn was in Ireland talking up the press as she was preparing to release the second album in her Body Talk series (it’s in stores TODAY!), we crashed the phoners with our almost-famous 12 random questions. Check Robyn out getting random below:

1. What’s the most common misconception about you that you’d love to clear up right here and right now?

I’m not Robin S. with the song “Show Me Love.” Do you remember that song? Literally people still ask me if that’s me. I spell my name with an I, but that’s actually why I changed the spelling of my name because both of our songs came out at the same time.

2. What’s the best meal you’ve ever had?

That’s a very good question. I think mostly my dad’s food. He makes amazing food. I think his Bearnaise sauce with french fries is probably my favorite.

3. What’s one thing on the tour bus you really wish you could do but can’t?

Have a dump. You can’t. It’s very bad for the toilet. It’s very bad for the rest of the crew as well.

4. You’re performing at the VMAs, which we’re super excited about. What do you have planned for your performance?

I’m performing “Dancing On My Own” with Deadmau5, and he’s doing his own version of the song. It’s still in the making. I can’t tell you too much about it. But it’s going to be interesting.

5. You collaborated with Snoop Dogg for your new album, but what is your favorite hip-hop album of all time?

Favorite album… Wow. That’s a good questions because there’s so many good songs but if you have to choose an album it’s a different story.

Well, what’s your favorite hip-hop song of all time?

I think it would be “Kick In The Door” by Biggie. Notorious B.I.G.

6. Who are you looking forward to running into the most at the VMAs?

I don’t know…Maybe Snoop.

7. Have you ever been in a fist fight?

Hmmm… nope. I’m a lover, not a fighter. [laughs]

8. Who are your top three pop stars you’d love to duet with?

I won’t tell you that!

Why not!?

Nooooo! That’s for me to know and you to guess or wonder about. [laughs]

OK! Fine!

9. Is the red carpet something that’s fun for you or is it just part of the job?

It probably can be fun. Definitely. If you feel pretty and are in a good mood, it can be great. But if you feel like you don’t want to meet people that day, it can be quite intimidating. It depends on what kind of mood you’re in, I guess.

10. When you’re dancing on your own, what’s your preferred dance to do?

[laughs] Same thing I do when there are people around, I think. I think…right now, it’s just shaking my ass, basically.

You can never go wrong with a good ass shake.

Exactly! [laughs]

11. What is your go-to karaoke song?

“True Colors” by Cyndi Lauper

12. What’s your current guilty pleasure?

I don’t have guilty pleasures. A pleasure is a pleasure. I will never be guilty.
