American Idol season 8′s 4th place finisher, Allison Iraheta, and her recording home, Jive Records, have officially parted ways. The split was confirmed this morning (September 8) via a record label representative.
Rumors of Allison’s departure from Jive Records began to swirl when fans noticed her images and information was plucked from the record label’s homepage. While Allison is no longer with Jive Records she remains signed to 19 Recordings, according to Entertainment Weekly. 19 Recordings is the label attached to Idol’s producers, 19 Entertainment.
During Allison’s time on Jive Records, she released her debut album, Just Like You. The album, released in November of 2009, has sold modestly. It debuted at No. 35 on the Billboard 200 in its first week of release, selling 32,000 copies.
Allison is currently on tour with Adam Lambert on his hugely successful Glam Nation Tour.
This is just such a shame. Allison Iraheta can out sing most of the female singers at the top of the charts today, yet she has been totally overlooked. What has Jive been doing to get her played on VH1, radio stations, etc.? Where are Justin Bieber’s promoters when you need them? I have never heard any of her music even mentioned in Seattle, and she has already performed here at Glam Nation. She will be in the area again this month. Thank goodness Sony approved her being the opening act with Adam. I saw her. She was amazing. She and Adam were the only reasons I watched Season 8 of American Idol. I hope Allison’s day in the sun is near and that she will realize her dreams of a singing career, but she needs some promoters who are serious about making her a star.
Alison was competing with Kris Allen, both being on Jive. Secondly, she had the toughest competition when her album dropped. Miley, Gaga, Britney, Swift, and Riri had HUGE SMASHES surrounding her timeframe. Radio gave the girl 30 adds in 4 months with NO spins. Conversely, at the same time, Orianthi, another newcomer, got 28 adds day one with a ton of spins. Allen only got 9 adds the first week with LLWD. NO way could they have Allison, 4th place finisher, top “The Winner”. Radio is a ho. And Jive either didn’t bother to get radio to play it or radio flat out refused to and Jive kept it (why) some big “secret”.
OH GOD, I forgot to add also KESHA was in that month. Ali never had a shot.
Jive Record has not been distributing Allison albums broadly. I live in Atlanta, and I was looking for her CD’s, but I could never find it. Now they blamed the 18 years old and dropped her? This is ABSURD!

Allison got screwed! I have never seen so much talent go to waste because her damn lazy ass record label wasn’t really doing a good job of promoting her. I can tell you right now that Allison is one of the best kept secrets out there. She is atleast just as good, if not BETTER than a lot of these artists we hear on the radio these days. The only reason that a lot of people will say that they have never heard of Allison & that she sucks is because her record label, JIVE never promoted her that well & when they did they marketed her very poorly. They tried to push her into the teeny bopper pop direction, when really & truly, she is the next female rock star. She should have been this generation’s Pat Benatar, or Joan Jett, not just another manufactured Miley Cyrus! Allison has got that “IT” factor & someone just needs to give Allison a little more of a push & give her a little more freedom as an artist. She has got mega superstar, rock star talent!
