Rihanna Calls ‘LOUD’ “The Perfect Rihanna Album”, Plots Duet With Katy Perry

Rihanna called her fourth album, last year’s near-flawless, critically acclaimed release, Rated R, her most personal album, but her forthcoming set, LOUD, is the album she’s most excited for fans to hear.

In an interview with BBC Radio 1’s Scott Mills in London yesterday (October 1), the pop goddess couldn’t help but brag about her “perfect” fifth album. “It’s just the perfect Rihanna album,” she said.

What makes it so perfect, she says, is that every song is tailored to her and no one but her could pull them off. “I wanted songs on there that were all Rihanna songs that nobody else could do. I didn’t want the generic pop record that Ke$ha or Lady Gaga or Katy Perry could just do….I wanted songs that only I could do. [Songs that] had a little West Indian vibe to it, had a certain tone, a certain sass and a certain energy.”

So far, Rihanna has music videos lined up for “Only Girl (In The World),” LOUD’s first single which has peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, and the second single, “What’s My Name.”

Whether or not it will be done in time for the album, Rihanna is making plans to duet with her pop star BFF Katy Perry. “We’re actually talking about it right now,” she told Mills. What kind of record could two spitfires like Rihanna and Katy deliver? “Something fun. Something out of the box,” she said.
