Katy Perry let the sparks fly during her performance on The X Factor today (October 17) in the UK. With a dazzling set and dancers shooting off sparks backing her, Katy performed “Firework,” the latest single from her new album, Teenage Dream. At one point, pyro went off and the X Factor’s London stage looked more like the US on the fourth of July.
It’s a good thing she had so much going on on stage. A distraction is exactly what most will need from the extremely rough vocals Katy displayed. Her quivering voice could be blamed in part on nerves (the other part on just not being a very good live vocalist — SNL anyone?).
After the performance, Katy was asked how performing on the show compares to playing guest judge as she had in the beginning of the season. “It’s still nerve-racking because you’re kinda being judge still!,” she said. “How did I do?” The question resulted in thumbs up from the judges’ panel — even from notoriously harsh critic Simon Cowell.
