Katy Perry - Rolling Stone
Katy Perry is crazy in love with her new husband, Russell Brand (maybe a little less after he tweeted this photo of her), but in a newly leaked song, she’s lamenting a break up.
In “Part of Me,” a song some speculate is a leftover from Katy’s latest album, Teenage Dream, Perry sings to a lousy ex, “Days like this I want to drive away/Pack my bags and watch your shadow fade/’Cause you chewed me up and spit me out/like I was poison in your mouth.”
But, as Katy sings, “that was then and this is now.” No more dwelling in the past, she’s got the strength to move on. “You’re not gonna break my soul..this is the part of me that you’re never gonna ever take away from me.”
The track is supposedly produced by Dr. Luke and Max Martin, which we wouldn’t doubt. It sounds, in some parts, a lot like another one of their Teenage Dream productions, “The One That Got Away” (just listen to the intro).
