Video: David Archuleta Performs “The Other Side Of Down” And “Elevators” On Fox’s New Year’s Eve Live

David Archuleta

David Archuleta spent the last few minutes of 2010 on stage performing for a packed crowd of party people at Fox’s New Year’s Eve Live bash.

Archie took the stage to perform the title track from his sophomore album, The Other Side Of Down. It was great to see Archie up on his feet and having a total ball on stage.

David also got the chance to close out the evening with a performance of Elevators. There were some minor vocal hiccups here and there but let’s be honest, a “bad” performance from David still slays 95% of other artists on their best days.

Take a look at the performances below.

  1. Yeah minor vocal hiccups, but in his defense it was soooo cold, he said that he was barely able to move his mouth on twitter……In general he id AMAZING!! glad to see him in TV and i love the outfit too :)

  2. What hiccups?? I did not noticed anything wrong!! To me he was perfect!! Wow!! He amazed me with his vocals and MOVES!! Loved to see him on tv again!!

  3. Care to be more specific about these “hiccups”? Maybe he wasn’t in top top vocal form throughout, but I certainly didn’t notice any “hiccups”.

  4. …still, as live singin’ goes…there is NO better than the Archuleta! :-)

  5. I did not notice any vocal “hiccups” in Archuleta’s performance. The song’s name is “Elevator”, not “Elevators”. Still love ya NL, and thanks for the coverage!

  6. Considering it was below freezing and David was singing songs which are vocally challenging under the best of conditions, he was fantastic!

  7. Hmmm, I didn’t hear any hiccups. David sounded great and looked soooo amazing! It was freezing in Vegas so it’d be understandable anyway. Thanks for posting!

  8. I simply loved him! Is it ok to drool over him??! He is keeping me young forever! Great job Arch!

  9. I was blown away by David’s performance last night!! He was such a star and “rocked” the night with brilliance!!! NOPE….I heard NO hiccups at all!!! He is such an outstanding “live” performer…unmatched….IMHO. Way to go David!!! Shine your stuff!!! 2011 is just waiting for you to take it by storm!!

  10. Confused by the “vocal hiccups” reference..have watched & listened umpteen times (can’t get enough of the Archuleta..haha) & find both performances to be spot on, especially when you consider the freezing temps..has to play havoc on a singers voice..I saw nothing but self confidence & killer vocals. Way to go, David! What a way to “sing us into” a brand New Year! BEST of the BEST!

  11. Great performance by David and he gave the crowd what they came for and sang live in the cold unlike others who pre-taped their performances. Bravo!!!

  12. I watched on Live stream and on TV and didn’t notice any hiccups!!! Do you have a good taping of the songs??? He sang the songs for various pre-tapings and live broadcasting and thought his performances were the best of the night. David sang Live vs country taping was from earlier this year and Travie was lip syncing!! David is great Live performer and in spite of cold did fantastic!!

We appreciate your support for David!! Just puzzled about your comment!

  13. David didn’t have hicupps last night. He likes to add some oohs, aahs, oh,ohs, yeahs and so on.. The HA
you heard during The Other side of Down is something David added to the song.

  14. I didn’t get your mentioning of ‘hiccups’ and also another article said something about a technical glitch when he performed. In Illinois, my whole family didn’t notice any technical issues. So, I didn’t understand what they meant. But I think at one moment I couldn’t hear his voice well when he used falsetto during Elevator. If that’s what you meant, maybe the cold weather bothered projecting his voice out on falsetto. just guess. Anywayz, he’s better than 97% of singers out there when it comes to live shows.
I was disappointed at Travis, BTW.

  15. I thought he brought it, big time. Jazzed up OSOD and Elevator excellent.. David’s new album, The Other Side of Down is great. Hope this performance helps people discover David. He is one talented and special guy.

  16. OHMYGOSH! david was soooo incredible last night! He really did an awesome jobs with tosod & elevator!!! I l

  17. I thought David did great! I didn’t hear any vocal hiccups and certainly didn’t think it was a bad performance. I don’t know what you guys were listening to. But thanks for posting the vids anyway. :)

  18. I thought David was incredible last night. I didn’t hear any vocal hiccups at all. David just shines when he’s onstage. He definitely looked like a rock star. Totally polished and professional. His band sounded great too. I don’t know why David doesn’t get the attention his talent surely warrants, when you compare him to some of the other performers out there who don’t have even a fraction of the talent David has.

  20. Thanks for the write up! David was fantastic last night, loved watching him on my TV! I’m afraid I didn’t hear one ‘hiccup’ from David, he sounded amazing to me. Loved the little extra runs and soulful sounds he adds to his songs, soooo good! Even better than I expected considering the freezing temps. Way to go David. He looked and sounded wonderful!

  21. I honestly didn’t hear any glaring vocal hiccups. Many of the performers on t.v. lip sync so when someone is live of course there will be slight imperfections. I thought he sounded FANTASTIC though, and as close to perfect as one can be singing live. Keep up the Archuleta coverage NL, love it! Happy New Year!

  22. I’m a little confused, too. Elevator uses alot of falsetto, which isn’t David’s strength, so I don’t usually expect him to do great with that song. But for the number of times he’s done the song, I thought this was one his best. There was one brief time that I thought he went a tad off, but that was just a few words. And while it did seem like he was a little out of breath with Elevator, it was the middle of the night on the coldest night in Las Vegas history, and David couldn’t even feel his face, lol…Under the circumstances, I didn’t think it was a bad performance at all…But I do agree with Neon about the slaying part, lol.

  23. David was AMAZING! What are you talking about hicupps? Again, always looking to find something wrong with this incredible talented young man. Enjoy his performance people. Our whole family stay tuned and could not wait to hear David Archuleta perform. Despite the 29 year degree cold weather he was still AMAZING! Could not share the same enthusiasm about other peformances who seemed very boring to me. David WAS THE SHOW and I am no teen either. :)

  24. I watched both of David’s performances on television last night. Didn’t hear the vocal hiccups you were referring too. He looked and sounded amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, David has turned into a major hottie over night! Not to get down on the other performers, I thought David’s performances were the best of the night!

  25. Yes, definitely David was the best of the night!!!! He looked absolutely great in black. And I believe he’s aged a little…..he looked closer to his 20 yrs. than usual. But he’s still a cutie! Sure David performed in the cold. He’ll perform anywhere he’s asked to. And we want him to be asked a whole lot more. And thanks to that big crowd for standing there in the cold with him to listen to him. WTG!!!! We just can’t get enough of our sweetie.

I was so happy to see David Archuleta performing his new songs! Love his new cd!
David ‘s new music is so fresh, and good. Fun, real songs, that have such a positive message.
Loved his performance! and by the way, he
looks gorgeous!! Still got that beautiful smile we all fell in love with on Idol.
I didn’t notice any “hiccups”…what are you hearing? Best performer of the night! thanks for posting his performances

  27. They were both great performances by David. David had energy and confidence. He looked and sounded really good. I did not notice any “hiccups” You must have been watching the ABC NYE’s show with Ryan and Jenny.

  28. Story~ Would you mind elaborating on what you thought was “bad” about the performance, because another site mentioned technical issues, and those of us who watched the show on TV are all kind of stumped. Like I said earlier, David seemed a little out of breath at the end of phrases during Elevator, and I think his mic could’ve been louder at the beginning of TOSOD. But those are the only two things I’ve noticed…
